For the Windscreen Wiper trick, some models don't have this hidden feature but...there is a workaround!
1) Keep your driver's door open slightly
2) With your ignition on, set the windscreen wipers to 'rain sensor' or 'on'
3) As soon as the wiper arms are vertical, relative to the engine bonnet, switch off the ignition
I own a 2010 W212 and it allows me to simply move the wipers into the change position when the ignition is off. I dunno if that's supposed to happen but it does.
When I want to change the blades, I just slide the wiper up and out of the recessed position. And when I'm done, I push it all the way down into the recess. But I'll try this button push method. Feels more 'correct'.

When i am alone seated/Driving in my a class the “Passenger airbag 2 OFF” is constantly illuminated/lit, is that normal? When my husband seat on the passenger it changed to “ON”. When i am alone the Passenger Airbag 2 OFF is in orange light constantly. Kindly let me know if it is normal please.thanks

Yes it’s completely normal, it’s unsafe for an airbag to go off if no one is there so it’s turns off automatically.

Started thinking what a terrible design with the wipers on my C43. The passenger side wiper can be fully lifted away from the windscreen, while the driver side wiper can only be lifted a few inches before bonnet cover prevent further movements. Great tip. Cheers.👍

Just bought a gle350 and the first thing that I've learned is that everybody just expects you to know what all it does and how everything works. It’s a very very basic video though, it only shows the really simple things to get you going. We’re talking key, gears, wipers indicators etc, almost like a mini handover from a Sales Person. In addition to the windscreen wiper, when in service mode (vertical), the wipers would go back to down to normal position should you pop open the bonnet.
Been trying to figure out the wiper blades thing. Washed my car 2 weeks ago ago and tried to follow the instructions in the manual which aren’t clear at all. I followed your instructions and it worked first time 👍 thank you

Great video Nick. I knew of many but some I didn't. Didn't know about the handy wiper service mode without having to go into the computer. The sending locations from the Mercedes Me app is great and I use that especially if traveling abroad with unpronounceable addresses (I would otherwise normally speak the address into command).

Oh my goodness Nick, that boot button is a godsend, I have a very low roof in my underground car park at home, so now I can set the opening height of the boot and not have to worry about breaking the glass, thank you very much

Nick, I've just taken delivery of my GLA 250e after an 18 month wait, super excited for it! However, it's been specced down to a manual tailgate since I ordered. Any idea if it's possible to restrict the opening height for unpowered tailgates?

Hey Merce ... um Nick, great video! :) Thanks a lot for this. - I send addresses from various apps to the car. For example from the Google Maps app. Simply call up the desired destination there and use the share function to send it to the car via the Me app. Of course, this also works via the share function of the contacts. - In addition, "what 3 words" is still a great tip as a voice command. Great video Nick. I knew about most of them not only from Mercedes but other manufacturers also. Today I was browsing used E Class coupe and came across an 11-month-old E 300D and I was completely taken aback by the colour of it. It was Rubelitte red metallic. I was that taken by it I drove for an hour to see it in the flesh and I was not disappointed it is an absolutely stunning colour. I'm interested in your opinion.
Ah yes I’ve seen that colour before! It looks stunning! It’s almost black at night time but then when some light shines on it, you’ll see the red 🤓
Hi Nick, with the multi beam headlight you can just push the left stalk forwards too and that will deactivate it quickly. Don't know if mine is playing up but I ha e to do this on motorways and even now and then on country lanes because they just don't shut the light off quick enough. Its an awesome feature but I don't think it's quite ready yet considering I get flashed from other drivers 2 times out of 10.
Absolutely you can deactivate it quite quickly!
It is a very clever system with countless possible scenarios where you don’t have to do anything but yes there may be the odd occasion where you’ll have to operate it manually.

8: If you are briefly in manual mode and want to switch back to automatic you can also move the gear selector in drive and that will do it immediately. No need to hold the shift up paddle for a couple of seconds.
Never tried that before! But I guess it would work, dynamic select also changes it auto too 🤓

Nope haven’t done it yet, waiting to get my hands on one that can do it. Sadly no, it’s only on a couple of Mercedes models such as CLS & S-Class.

Thanks for the video! Is there any easy way to find out which features are in which model? The manual is a common one for the class and its not very clear, atleast to me, which options are available in any one specific model.

Best thing is to check the eBrochures on the website. On each of the models Mercedes-Benz sell, it can be updated from time to time so the eBrochures are always a good place to go.
If you have a Mercedes, you can speak to your local dealership and they can provide you with a spec sheet listing everything it has.

OMG,,, I HAVE BEEN PULLING MY HAIR OUR TRYING TO GET THEM INTO THE SERVICE POSITION PER THE MANUAL ... It says to turn on the ignition and turn it off then hold the button for 3 seconds. Twice I have sprayed my whole car with washer fluid inadvertently and can't get it to happen in my 2021 AMG CLA 35. Gonna try this method . I was trying to figure it out so that i could show the detailer how to do it when i took the car to get ceramic coated. i searched and searched but never saw this video. hopefully it works when i get it back from them. i love you videos by the way. very informative

Absolutely, when the sat Nav talks to you, just press the mute button! 🤓
If you do it when music is playing, it’ll mute the music, but do it when the sat Nav talks to you and it’ll mute that :)

Hi Nick. Thanks for all your videos. I wonder if there’s any way to get the driver wing mirror to drop too? Really useful feature when parallel parking on the left but if I’m parking on the right I need the driver mirror to drop, not the passenger.

Loving these tips and tricks videos! I got my C Class in July (2021 model) so it has been very helpful. Just 2 questions: is it always possible to link the steering wheel and mirrors to the heated seats or does this require a special option? And I have been unable so far to upload contacts from my(old) iphone. Any advice please?

If you have memory seats on your car, then you can program the seat, steering wheel and side mirrors onto the Memory 1, 2 & 3 on the door. The heated seats don’t link onto anything else as they’re just a button on the door with 3 heat settings.
If you’re iPhone hasn’t synced the contacts across the only way to get it going it to delete both pairings from your car and phone and start again.
This can happen if a notification on your phone comes through while you’re in the middle of pairing and is quite common, just a simple pair it back up again will sort it 🤓

I must have looked at 20 videos, read the online manual, scoured MercedesMe but find no instructions at all on how to do it ! I’m in Switzerland and its COLD !! I so miss paper car manuals :)
Hey Beverley, no sadly you can’t link the heated seats to memory.
The memory seats are just for the seat position, steering wheel and mirrors.
The heated seats are just 3 heat settings, you just press this button to put it on straight away 🤓

My first MB estate was a 300D in1983, followed by 9 upgrades over the years. Great to be back with such a great car. Thanks for the tips. @@npoleary Yes I have Command but thought I should consider fitting a dashcam for a photographic record in the event of an accident. Have looked at The MB model but it is rather expensive. Just wondered if you had considered dashcams for a video. I shall certainly be following your future videos, so well produced and easy for anyone to understand. Great work, thanks!

Hi Nick, The 2021 GLE we have has the air freshener option. I'm perplexed along with my family as to if it is actually working. It's not in my view. Do you have a video on it? I've ensured it's on and max level with the ionizer on and off in trying to get some sort of scent out of the vents, nothing. Do you know of any factory / dealer prep that should have been preformed prior to delivery or any troubleshooting for this feature?
Hey Robert, sadly no video on that feature I’m afraid! It’s a very rare feature in Mercedes but yes sounds like you’ve found the right menu for it.
There are couple of settings ranging from low, med & high for the air freshener. If it’s not working as you’d expect, I’d get in touch with your local dealership who might be able to help diagnose what’s going on.
Hi Nick. Can you make video on how to access owners manual on the screen in the car when a fault appears and it asking to refer to owners manual. Also a video on few common trouble shooting faults. Other day a fault appeared on screen for 48V Battery and asking to refer to owners manual.

Yes the “see owner’s manual” just refers to the section where it can be explained in more detail. So the interactive manual on the car is just a basic version where as the book as everything that you’d need to know 🤓

Hey Ted, sadly no all cars these days start in their default mode which in Mercedes is Comfort.
Of course you can change it after starting 🤓

Hi Nick I have a 2016 SLC 43 the NS mirror will not go down when in reverse I did as you said but nothing worked and I tried the Mercedes me app for the destination on the sat nav, it all worked on the app it said it sent it to the car but nothing happens on the car. Is the sat nav an older version? Many thanks Chris

Sounds like the NS mirror trick isn’t on your one :(
Honestly with those sorts of things, you’ll just have to try it with the vast majority of models specifications on Mercedes models out there.
With the sending of addresses, it does depend on your Sat Nav system. In SLC’s you can either have Garmin Map Pilot or COMAND, do you know which one you have?
Hello Nick - I have a 2019 A class. The rain sensor for the intermittent wiper action is not working. Is there a quick fix or test I can preform?

On the indicator stalk, there’s two dotted lines which are the rain sensor position, does it not wipe at all?

ive just resently bought a 2017 e class amg line. is there any way that you can physically turn off the radio i know how to mute it but its becoming a pain every time i get in the car .
the same goes the navigation voice can she be disabled .

Hey wilf, best thing to do is just select the Media button and make sure you’ve selected something that’s not in use like a USB port or something. That way the radio won’t come on when you first turn it on. 😀
With the Sat Nav prompt, no you will have to mute it each time, just press the volume button in when the Sat Nav talks.

Thanks very much. Some useful tips. I have noticed and you may have mentioned it but the dipping rear view mirror in reverse. Mine was set too low so I changed the height while it was in reverse. The next time I used it the car had stored this setting so the mirror still dipped but to the height I set.. One question I have is about individual mode. I like my car set to comfort but with the sport steering as it is a little less light and gives more feedback however when I restart the car it has gone back to comfort as the default. Can you set the default to individual on start up?. Many thanks

In answer to your question unfortunately no it can’t start up in an individual mode due to emission regulations. All cars have to start with start / stop enabled and the default mode which in Mercedes is Comfort. Shortly after starting you can change this to your preferred mode.

Thanks for very intuitive videos. I’m about to collect my new Mercedes CLA 250e Shooting brake on Tuesday. I’ve been waiting now for three months. It’s first time for me to own a Mercedes. So I’m looking forward to drive it home.
A question though .... do the steering wheel and seats change position as you change profile in MBUX? Does it change by using each key as well? Or do you always have to change seats and wheel manually or by preset buttons?

Hey Paul, honestly it does depend on the model with regard to the seat saving etc. I haven’t been able to memorise them all! 😅
Some models save it per profile but what I’ve seen more commonly at the moment is that it’s more leaning toward the memory buttons on the doors with the saving of the seat position.
Both keys will be the same so it won’t be saved on there.

Hi Nick, does the wiper maintenance mode work on all models? On my 2017 E class it seem not to work. When I need to change the wipers I switch the contact on, press the wipe once button and when the wipers are in vertical position I quickly switch off the contact. Bit of trial and error unfortunately. Maybe there are different ways for different models?

Thanks for all your useful tips. I don't know if you covered this in an earlier video, but I managed to change the red triangle icon on my Garmin map pilot sat nav to the icon of a black car. Since updating the sd card, I can't remember how to do this. Can you help please?

Sadly the newer versions of Garmin Map Pilot do not offer this, I noticed that as well on my previous Mercedes. That changed quite a while ago, it was something that Garmin had done on their latest update.
Is there a way the sat nav can alert you to speed cameras? 68 plate c class.

It’s not allowed where Mercedes-Benz are made in Germany. There’s usually some form of speed limit assist in the car though that let’s you know the speed limits for the road you’re on

Hi Nick. You say that a double click on the key to lock my EQB disables the key such that it cannot be scanned when the key is in the house. But if I go out to the car with the key in my pocket then I can unlock the car by touching the inside of the door handle. If the key is completely dead then how can this happen? Thanks Michael
Hey Mike, (just deleted my previous comment as I’ve just found this out! 😅)
Since producing this video, newer cars have changed how the keys switch off KEYLESS-GO.
Double tap the lock button is the old way but some newer cars now have a newer way.
Hold lock and immediately press unlock twice to turn these keys off
