What a little gem of a film. They were different times back then. Everyone wore their best Sunday clothes when on holiday. A charming film that preseves the memory of more happier and simpler times. Thank you for sharing such lovely memories.
Thank you so much. I’ve just lost my Dad, and this brought back so many precious memories of lovely holidays in Blackpool in the 60’s with my late Mum and Dad. Even though I shed some tears, it was a lovely memory of much happier times.
It was such a pleasure to watch your short film of Blackpool....... I enjoyed it very much, as it transported me back for a short time to my own childhood memories growing up, when the world felt like a very different place.
My Dad drove coaches at the weekend for Goodwins coach firm in Chorlton, Manchester during the 60s and 70s. We used to sneak on as kids and go to Blackpool every weekend with him. Great memories
Remember going in 1960 although i was only five with mam dad and my two older sister's from South Wales in an Austin A 30, this video brought back so many happy family holiday memories. 👍
In the illuminations you can see the trees. I particularly remember how colourful and animated they were. A harbinger of the Autumn season The balloon trams were perfect for the light tours especially on the upper deck Had to keep wiping away the condensation on those cold nights
Great video. Everywhere looked a lot cleaner in those days, no litter like now. Ive a love/hate relationship with Blackpool. Loved it when I worked in the 'mill in the 80s and we went for day trips on a bus from work. Then hated the place as it was just a run down town. Now Im on the trucks I sometimes park in Lytham and cycle to Blackpool. I love it now, its just one of those places where I think of when I was a kid and we went to see the illuminations with great family times. Thanks for posting.
A lovely video, which has brought back memories of all the times I have been associated with the town. As a small boy visiting with my parents. as a teenager and young adult growing up and in later life as a pilot and flying instructor operating out of 'Squire's Gate' aerodrome. I have spent many happy days on the Isle of Man, again as a young boy with my parents and in later life flying in on a regular basis - but from Liverpool, not Blackpool. The world seemed so simple then and all the days were sunny ... lol 😀
We went there in 1960 when I was 10. Look how smart we were back then compared to today. It was mid summer and packed. The thing I will never forget was a ride on the Wild Mouse. Bloody hell! Thanks Blackpool, thanks Britain for the pleasure you have given me for all my life. What on earth has gone wrong nowadays. I certainly saw your best years. er
Amazing video! Thanks so much, me and and family would go to Blackpool each year from Glasgow in the late 70's and early 80's. It was a magical place for a child back then, the lights, the arcades and of course the Pleasure Beach which blew my mind at such a young age. So many great memories and love and laughter, sights and sounds. All the best!
Where's the place at 8.44 and 9.5o where the little fort is please it looks lovely with the rocky beach ,great video and loads of lovely memories with my parents thank you
@MARKETMAN6789 The little fort is at Castletown on the Isle of Man. We took a day trip flight from Blackpool airport to Ronaldsway airport. Castletown is within easy walking distance of the airport.
This is a lovely little trip into the past, now, here's my question: In the days before Mods, Rockers, Skinheads, Suede Heads, Rude Boys, Punks, Casuals, Ravers what on earth did teenagers do?
Back when the sea came right in at St Annes from the aerial footage. Blackpool didnt change much right through to the 80s then it changed for the worse.😢
hey time for me in blackpool was in the 60s/70s then 80s for my own family,it started going worse in the 90s....all we can do now is think what it was like in our hey day...would,nt entertain blackpool for the rest of my life....just keep on 👣

Thank you for your lovely comment. It is much appreciated.
They were indeed very beautiful cherished people of our past. We need to consider a return to a simpler way of life. Its far too modern these days.
Home filming back then was so rare and very expensive. These films are so important, and I'm so thankful for this being shared
