The Season 3 episode "Tale of the Yokai" was actually an inspiration from the 1998 movie Mask of Zorro. In that movie, Diego de la Vega (played by actor Anthony Hopkins) is Hamato Yoshi and his archenemy Don Rafael Montero (played by actor Stuart Wilson) is Oroku Saki. Diego's beloved wife Esperanza is Tang Shen and their baby daughter Elena is Miwa. Don Rafael Montero, the corrupt governor of California, had Esperanza unintentionally murdered and took her and Diego de la Vega's daughter Elena to raise her as his own. Just like how Oroku Saki accidentally murdered Tang Shen and took her and Hamato Yoshi's baby daughter Miwa/Karai to raise her as his own. I suggest you watch The Mask of Zorro from 1998 to see for yourself.
Damn! I never knew the episode “Tale of the Yokai” drew inspiration from another media. Although, I read that Thor and Loki’s conflict from Marvel is pretty similar to Splinter and Shredder’s. Thanks very much for sharing this. “Tale of the Yokai” was my favorite episode of the series, so I definitely will watch “Mask of Zorro” one day. 😊
@@muhammedcamara7670 one difference: Loki just wanted to be Thor’s equal and attainable his father’s love. Shredder just wanted to beat Splinter and steal his girlfriend
@@jamestolbert1856I agree that Shredder was primarily motivated by jealousy over Splinter’s marriage to Tang Shen, but the discovery of his true heritage also played a role. Being adopted by his enemy clan (which Splinter was born to lead) triggered his general contempt for the world. He settled for using Splinter as the scapegoat for that contempt since he successfully won Shen’s love.
I say screw 2003 shredder this one i believe is a guy who will take over the world with his bare hands and will make everyone fear him also shows how skilled both are considering how the turtles described shredder after fighting him and seeing both him and splinter equal shows why they are top dogs
You watch Splinter fight Shred-head and come to the realization that the goes far too easy on his sons! He doesn't fight them he only trains them--holy mac, it you blink you miss most of his moves! I think I didn't breath thru the whole vid! 😄 Definitely (this) SPLINTER fan 💖 He knows A LOT!
A feud all cause of a woman. But the entire time Splinter was trying so hard to not fight. Splinter aimed to be the voice of reason. Shredder didn't want to listen. jealousy is a virus that takes control and makes people blind. Shredder really blocked his mind to not allow Splinter to try to talk some sense to him. jealousy turned to pure Hatred. TMNT is a crazy series but this show put it out in the open and made it very serious if you pay close attention compared to the old 80s cartoon even if their some comedy. But watching these two fight it's very serious. The contrast between when the Turtles fight Shredder compared to when Splinter fights Shredder. It shifts so much.
Their feud is my favorite part of the show. While I’m annoyed by how petty Shredder’s motivation was, I’m glad that he at least had a motivation that is somewhat relatable. Make no mistake, jealousy over a love interest doesn’t justify obsessively trying to commit fratricide. I like how serious their rivalry was and how much of the series was driven by it. Finally, I love how much of a foil they were to each other when it came to their war. Splinter learned to and succeeded in making a new life for himself to overcome his grief. Shredder used his thirst for vengeance as an unhealthy coping mechanism for his grief leading him to unnecessarily prolong their pointless feud. Simply put, Splinter managed to become more human than Shredder himself and even in death, Splinter was still superior to him in the moral spectrum. The creators have confirmed that Splinter reunited with Tang Shen in the afterlife, so who’s laughing now, Shredder?!
So true! The problem was Saki already had boiling jealousy towards Yoshi for winning Tang Shen’s heart. The discovery of his true heritage was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It’s also implied that Yuta entrusted Yoshi with the secret of Saki’s true heritage, which further pissed Saki off. Simply put, every misfortune of Saki’s was attributed to Yoshi in some fashion and instead of taking it better, he chose a vengeful crusade. Finally, Saki already killed Yuta to avenge the death of his birth father Oroku Keiji.
I like how this show flipped the trope of the heroes being “honorable”. Splinter has no issue fighting with underhanded tactics because he’s a ninja and that’s what they did, and it’s perfectly fine for him to do that because he’s trying to defend his family. Meanwhile Shredder constantly loses due to his insistence on fighting fair and equally, not because he respects his enemies, but because his pride won’t let him accept anything less.
Brotherly rivalry turned blood feud fueled by petty jealousy. As much as I want to deem that an outdated cliche, the drama it comes with is pretty captivating.
0:19 to 0:32 Moments like this from the villain good perspective really shows how terrifying it is to fight the Ninja Turtles. They're human-sized turtle creatures hopping around kicking your ass and laughing the whole way through.
Bro, that was actually the whole point of his Character. the 2012 incarnation of him Was always about him being obsessive with Defeating Splinter & wiping out the rest of the Hamatos. There is a video on UA-cam, Talking about this matter, It explains the 2012 Shredder's story in a much better way.
You’re not wrong. Lol! While Shredder remains my favorite villain and 2nd favorite character in this series, I do have 3 critiques against him. 1. Petty motivations for his villainy 2. Intense victim mentality 3. Narrow minded obsession with vengeance
A tall splinter a cool shredder aweasome fight scene super good story a crying death super cool turtle évolution April is a mutan this show had just everything
Fun fact: franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman considers this series to be the best adaptation of TMNT and I agree with him. He also voiced Ice Cream Kitty and wrote the Season 5 episode, “Lone Rat and Cubs”.
I like how this show makes it incredibly clear Splinter is a much more skilled fighter than Shredder. Shredder only ever beats him when hes distracted or weakened, from behind, or through raw power as the Super Shredder. Splinter fighting Shredder in the Season 1 finale is one of my favorite fight scenes in the whole show.
I think they are equal as fighters, but Shredder insists on fighting “fair” because in his mind that’s the only way to truly prove himself over Splinter. Splinter is much more of a ninja because he doesn’t care about fighting in ways that are unpredictable and give him a bigger advantage.
Very VERY clear Spinter was always the better fighter. Shredder could only win with cheap tactics. (Ie Super mutation and attacking when splinter wasn't aware.) One on one shredder was no match.
Rewatching the series I noticed something very interesting; if you analyze it, the three reflect Leo, Karai and Raph. Raph and Saki, both being temperamental, with problems related to their anger, in addition to having rivalry with their brothers, with the difference being that Saki let his anger and revolt dominate him. Leo and Splinter, the two being the opposite of their brothers, calm, thinking a lot about their family and very responsible. And finally, Karai and Tang Shen, who according to Splinter, is just like her mother. But she also has a bit of a resemblance to Shredder, as both were also deceived about their real family and followed a path of revenge, but she discovered the truth and freed herself from his control.
You know Splinter is a better master martial artist when Shredder had to rely on mutation to gain the upper hand. And even then, he still has to rely on underhanded tricks to win.
Their fights are similar to Optimus and Megatron's from Transformers Prime. Heck, Shredder even looks similar to Megatron and his voice actor voiced Bulkhead.
From me watching this whole series over and over I finally get it now, Leo is a reflection of splinter and Miwa is a reflection of tang shen because splinter even stated of karai was just like her mother.

Let's be honest. Shredder only one the last fight because he got lucky and Splinter dropped his guard.
I’ve seen the movie and indeed the episode and the conflict between shredder and splinter is like the story of zorro
I’ve seen it
Or rat and man
Remind of Optimus prime vs megatron
You watch Splinter fight Shred-head and come to the realization that the goes far too easy on his sons! He doesn't fight them he only trains them--holy mac, it you blink you miss most of his moves! I think I didn't breath thru the whole vid! 😄
Definitely (this) SPLINTER fan 💖
He knows A LOT!
I miss watching this show.
Bro the choreography cooked in this show
A feud all cause of a woman.
Saki had a right to be angry at Yuuta not Yoshi and Yuuta was already dying so Shredder got his vengeance a long time ago.
I don't know much about ninja turtles but I'm getting optimus prime vs megatron vibes from these 2
Splinter did pretty good with super shredder but his attacks were i bit weak
I like how this show flipped the trope of the heroes being “honorable”. Splinter has no issue fighting with underhanded tactics because he’s a ninja and that’s what they did, and it’s perfectly fine for him to do that because he’s trying to defend his family. Meanwhile Shredder constantly loses due to his insistence on fighting fair and equally, not because he respects his enemies, but because his pride won’t let him accept anything less.
Steal their souls through their 0:55 😂
Darth Vader (but irredeemable) vs Obi Wan
Es increíble la animación alla envejecido tan bien xd en serio, está serie estaba fuera de cualquier nivel
Hamato Yoshi/Master Splinter is Mufasa
Oroku Saki/The Shredder is Scar
Brotherly rivalry turned blood feud fueled by petty jealousy. As much as I want to deem that an outdated cliche, the drama it comes with is pretty captivating.
0:19 to 0:32 Moments like this from the villain good perspective really shows how terrifying it is to fight the Ninja Turtles. They're human-sized turtle creatures hopping around kicking your ass and laughing the whole way through.
I'm glad the executives at Nickelodeon didn't meddle with this show regarding the violence.
The one thing I abhor of this Shredder is that he has no other goal except to best Splinter because he couldn’t get the girl. Such a whiny little baby
@@Belugamale8738Got a link for the video? I’d love to see it.
You’re not wrong. Lol!
While Shredder remains my favorite villain and 2nd favorite character in this series, I do have 3 critiques against him.
1. Petty motivations for his villainy
2. Intense victim mentality
3. Narrow minded obsession with vengeance
@muhammedcamara7670 it's on UA-cam, Called "The obsessive journey of the 2012 shredder" by The Turtle nexus

Best Nick show.
2:02 At this point Shredder left his respect for his brother becoming his enemy, while Yoshi fights dodging Shredder using brutality and hatred.
If legends never died this serie is immortal the only 100% perfect ninja turtles serie

I almost shat myself when i watched the episode where splinter actually finally dies
Very tragic indeed. Splinter was my favorite character in the series.

That Is Really Sad When Master Splinter Died
Very VERY clear Spinter was always the better fighter. Shredder could only win with cheap tactics. (Ie Super mutation and attacking when splinter wasn't aware.) One on one shredder was no match.
"Thats right ninja we yokai will steal all of your souls.. through your butt! muhahahahahahahah!!!!" - Tmnt 2012 Leo
Splinter and Shredder trained together as kids.

Epic defeat. Bravo Splinter!
3:20 splinter would have finished shredder, bro is so lucky Karai saved him
Such brotherly rivalry between Splinter and Shredder. But Splinter's death still broke my heart 😭

Althought i don't like 2012 tmnt i love the fight scenes
You know Splinter is a better master martial artist when Shredder had to rely on mutation to gain the upper hand. And even then, he still has to rely on underhanded tricks to win.
Why is a yokai an urban legend when it literally steals your soul through your butt?

Their fights are similar to Optimus and Megatron's from Transformers Prime. Heck, Shredder even looks similar to Megatron and his voice actor voiced Bulkhead.
