One thing about the condo developers, they did not forget to add lights, they built your unit (and the hundreds of others) to the absolute bare minimum code requirement. In Canada ceiling lighting only required in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms (not closet!) and hallways. You are permitted to install a switched receptacle (plug) in living rooms & bedrooms & you are code compliant. Some developers opt to include a junction box in the middle of your bedroom so that you can choose to install your own ceiling lighting. Otherwise great video.
Well, if you claim this to be the BenQ killer, why are you comparing it to a brand NOT BENQ? It seems like a great product, a great alternative to Quntis. But after comparing Xiaomi to Quntis for the entire video, I wasn't able to see how you came to the conclusion of "this is the BenQ killer". There are other videos on UA-cam which did a fair and thorough comparison with BenQ and their final thoughts were at least a bit different than "BenQ is just soooo over priced and it is a rip off"

I'm sorry to curb your enthusiasm: the magnetic connection design is flawed, a fact you'll only notice with time. I bought this product back in October 2020 and, after a year or so of use, the lamp started to frequently flick due to bad contact of the metal plates. I was usually able to fix it by moving the bar a bit, but the problem only got worse and now, after two years, it's almost impossible to use the lamp. I suspect this problem was caused by the metal cylindrical body of the lamp having its shape microscopically distorted due to weather variations so that now it won't fit perfectly with the monitor support, affecting the magnetic connection and the proper touching of metal contacts. I'm a big fan of Xiaomi in general, but in this case, the experience was very disappointing!
Awesome video. Very informative. Thanks. Can you confirm if this light bar will retain last used mode (brightness + temperature) if the power source is cut off? I have a baseus light bar that's plugged in to a USB port on the monitor now. If I turn the monitor off or unplug the USB, when turning the light bar on again it would reset to full brightness and white color. Kinda annoying. Thanks.
Can I use it when I have 38" Dell U3818DW? First possible issue is that it's curved, second possible issue is that top is like 3cm thick because it contains some vents and becomes thicker downwards (slope is not huge, maybe five degrees) and last issue is that screen has 1mm wide frame (then half centimeter or so is black, but it's only foil covering whole screen. so it has to clamp to the edge only.

You are one of the few people I've ever heard talk about "how our eyes work". I work in a fairly dark studio, and I've had a lamp behind my monitor for at least 15 years. Even at home, when I watch TV, for over 20 years I've had a lighting preset that illuminates the whole wall that the TV is on (Yes ,I've had smart lights for 20 years). At work, in the studio, I've been trying to focus the track lights over my head to only illuminate the desk, but not the put glare on the screen. I've had very little success. @@TheLP98 I have an NEC PA 271Q. It just barely fits. I wish I could post a picture here, but I'll try to describe the problem. the bezel isn't too thick, but about an inch down from the bezel on the back side, the case protrudes out another inch or so. The counterweight on the light touches that protrusion which causes the lamp to tilt forward and spill light onto the screen. For me, it's acceptable. Why bother in the first place? So you could blast your monitor with light coming from it and look at the glare produced by the light shining above your monitor... Great, now bin it and get a brighter LED lightbulb for light fixture.
Thanks for the great review and especially the addition of bias light - been doing that bit for years and it always helps! Why bother in the first place? So you could blast your monitor with light coming from it and look at the glare produced by the light shining above your monitor... Great, now bin it and get a brighter LED lightbulb for light fixture.
The light is deflected downwards so it doesn't produce glare or become harsh to your eyes. It's a good spacing saving technique imo
Thanks for the great review and especially the addition of bias light - been doing that bit for years and it always helps!
Can you say whether the light works even if the monitor is off or in standby (as it draws power via USB of the monitor)? I sometimes work at my desk without the monitor on but still need a desk light.
Can you change its color temperature? Not really a fan of daylight white light.
yes!
@@JSyntax Oh, alright that's pretty cool then. I'll pick one up.
Bro have u heard of led tubelight?
I use a backlit keyboard.
Great review! Just wondering if xiaomi bar could be used instead a regular desk lamp for reading and writing or is rather an additional source for computer use purposes?
This has to be my best purchase this year. Everything on my desk has enough light now and there is much less strain on my eyes. Everyone should purchase one really.
I know right more light for my light screens
RGB KEYBOARD/BACKLIT KEYBOARD
I like this light bar. However, I live in an area where there are regular power outages and every time power comes back on the light bar lights up by itself. Would someone know of any way to prevent this besides pulling it off the magnetic stand?
I got mine probably a defective version. It keeps reducing brightness on its own to the lowest.
Maybe it's not getting enough power?
@@StardustLegacyFighter Nah, some issue in soldering pins. I returned it for repair recently.
Can you turn on the lightbar if the remote is broken? Can you buy a replacement? TIA!
