    Not one to leave reviews but this video is exceptional. Articulate, extremely thorough, and very well presented. This really helped decide on which one to buy for my business. Thanks for taking the time!

    You're right that it depends on perception of value. I have found that I seldom regret a higher up-front price for a marginal improvement in quality in something that I'll use for years (hopefully!). Thus the adage "buy nice, or buy twice". But ultimately it depends on how much $70 is worth to the individual.

      Very well stated. Longevity is a great point and something that’s always difficult to forecast. But we do the best we can with the information we have! It sounds like you own the BenQ monitor? How long have you owned it exactly?

    I got the Baseus cause it's cheaper. Found out that the clip doesn't go as far as the thickness of my 4 year old Samsung monitor. So for those considering this, they need to consider the width (thickness) of their monitor. If it's to clip onto a laptop, it shouldn't be a problem.

    -I’ll got with baseus. It’s pretty close to benq but for the price baseus is the better buy. Also, take in consideration if you have other sources or light ..ambient or anything . One source lighting would be backed up by other lights you might have on at the same time.

    Thanks for honest review.
    Should I worry about this light bar's reflection on top of the monitor?
    Does it haze the blacks or cause contrast issues?
    Any differents between BenQ, Xiaomi or Baseus in terms of blocking reflections?

    So the point of these is to light up the area in front of the monitor, maybe so you can see your keyboard keys? Or you could just use a keyboard with its own lights.

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 роки тому +3

      Correct! They’re designed to add additional lighting to your workspace to assist with eyestrain that arises with hours and hours of use. Especially if you’re reading a lot of content online. Backlit and rgb keyboards are great, but they don’t provide sufficient light on their own. Table lamps can also do the job, but Monitor light bars emit light that is much more evenly distributed. Not to mention that they don’t add any clutter to your desk.

    I've bought the baesus one, i already knew it won't fit my monitor , but i soomehow used my engineer brain to build a workaround and fit it! so now its fine, it gets a bit warm while using. and i didn't like the cable. Overall good for the price.

  • @SianaGearz
    @SianaGearz Рік тому

    Mhm the diffuser wouldn't be consuming half the light, rather a lot less! Bet around 5-10%. There has to be another explanation for the difference in spec brightness.
    I'm not convinced that i want to clip anything to the monitor though, because i don't want to crack the screen and cannot afford the cost of a replacement monitor. I have attached a 3D printed GoPro mount at the monitor's VESA mount points, and an extension arm is attached to that, with the final GoPro mount at the top carrying a modified PS3 Eye, with all these pieces being 3D printed but i validated their strength and ageing behaviour. I can attach a T-piece as well to this whole arrangement to carry a monitor light, but i can't imagine it being easy with these lights. On the other hand the very shitty ones which have a borderline non functioning mounting solution, may just be easy enough to adapt for me. But i'm not convinced that they have the bare minimum feature of having good light which doesn't shine up the monitor, so i may have to build my own or scavenge for some sort of idea.

    Thanks. This is very informative. I was going to buy the Baseus but was worried that it might not clamp onto my BenQ PD3230u monitor that has more than 2 inch thickness. Guess I’ll have to go for the BenQ light bar then.
    Btw, what’s the led strip you used at the back of your monitor? It looks great!

    How can you tell color temp and brightness level for the BenQ sceenbar? There is no indicator and no software that can tell you this info.

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 роки тому

      Agree it would be nice to have an indicator or software for more precise tracking of this. But we know that there are eight color temperatures available (2700K-6500K) and that there are 14 levels of brightness. So one can deduce roughly a specific level by toggling through the levels from top to bottom or vice versa

    i hate how the crappy clamps are probably what's going make me go for 100 dollar benq version.

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 роки тому

      I feel that. That clamp system imo is the biggest advantage. I have seen a virtual duplicate of the BenQ bar on Amazon though. Literally can hardly tell them apart with the same clamp system, but I haven’t tested it

    my monitor is a curved monitor with a 2inch thick top..do you think it could sit on top without falling over? any way i can rig it with velcro or something? is it good for thin bezels?

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  3 роки тому

      Hey man, for a 2 inch thickness you’re going to need a clamp system similar to BenQ. That would really be pushing it for Baseus. However, Baseus is more ideal for very thin bezels

    • @michaelsimmons9324
      @michaelsimmons9324 2 роки тому +1

      @@MrTekSuggest i ended up getting the benq.. i then used some double sided sticky hooks that i use to hold up LED strips and I mounted them to the top of my monitor and let the clamp on the light bar clip to that rather than the front of my monitor. It came out well and is sturdy.. even have my logitech cam on top of the light bar.
