Come ride the one that USED to be the tallest until Orlando stomped on us.....At Six Flags over Texas. It's 400 feet tall. I faced my fear and got on it, so can the Woo.
Wait till Jackson is old enough for rides like that...Tim will be so thrilled to take his son on all the rides with him. Hope Jackson does not end up being like some of us who say, "I'm not going on that".....his parents will be so sad.
That looks great. I'd definitely ride it. The rides I won't ride are every one of the traveling carnival rides. If a ride is permanently planted, most likely it's going to be properly maintained. That's what I tell myself over and over as I get on them anyway.
BBQ Head...that's me..Im dying for them to get the roller coaster that is similar to the stratosphere in Vegas and the jump you can do. But small coaster that is taken apart every week...I'll pass.
Susan Burris, Great Adventurers think alike, Internet High Five! When I lived close enough to get to Vegas from time to time the Stratosphere was always worth taking the time to ride the rides they have. If I really want to scare myself I'll head to a good boardwalk amusement pier.
Brian L, Sorry for the long delay in responding to you. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. The large traveling carnival operators that are hired for State Fairs and the like are reasonably safe. It's the smaller traveling carnivals that show up semi randomly in places like mall and grocery store parking lots for a week or a weekend and then pack up and move on to set up for another week or weekend that I don't trust enough to feel safe riding. As for the boardwalk and pier locations, it's the harsher environment of being seaside and the metal fatigue as well as the condition of the supporting structure, the boardwalk and pilings, that concerns me there. It's not enough of a concern to stop me from riding though. It's enough for me to think about which is why I said I'll ride them when I'm looking for that extra adrelaline I don't get from the large permanent locations/ parks that have large dedicated teams of inspectors cross checking each others' work and very well documented maintenance schedules and records.
Funny you should mention Virginia, that's where I am now. The small operators often use independent contractors that own their individual rides. That's where the trouble lies. Some of those contractors are barely making enough money to get to the next location and almost have to risk running a 'questionably' safe ride to be able to pay for the worn parts that should be replaced. But, like you said, you're entitled to your opinion. Really not trying to argue with you. I don't do that in the comments. Just wanted to be a little more clear about what I meant in my first post. I'm talking even smaller than county fairs. I don't really expect to hear back from you again since I think we understand each other's views at this point so don't feel obligated. Happy to read if you want to add anything more though. Thanks for the conversation. It's always nice to talk with civil people such as yourself on YT.
The lack of restraints to keep a person from coming out is a little crazy. It's a hell of a steel structure. I wonder how many lighting strikes it takes. This is the lighting capitol.
Wyld and I Went on this two days ago, loved it. Notes for first time riders: -the ride is at the top for 30s -dont look up, at the center, or down the shaft -if you wear slip ons or loose shoes, take them off
I rode it on Monday night and I'm terrified of tall swing rides and droptowers though I made myself do it. You definitely feel the g-forces and feel/hear the wind rushing past you. It was a nerve wracking 4 minutes though it was an incredible buzz especially as Orlando all lit up looks stunning.
It's amazing how quickly this went up. I was in Orlando late last summer and don't remember seeing the structure built. On the drive into Orlando from I-4 it looked pretty impressive.
True, and whats the odds of another chain breaking if something did go wrong. If it doesnt snap from the weight and its just a broken link then you would just hang too the side a little depending on which chain. Would be scary asf but probably wouldent die.
I havent been on this ride but i would say im just afraid of falling off not afraid of heights cause tbh when im high above i look and i see its soo pretty but when being in a rollercoaster i so scared of falling
Just rode this one 3 times yesterday, here are some of my impressions as a guy who is not a roller coaster addict, just a regular guy who didn’t want to look weak in front of his younger girlfriend * The build up is scarier than the actual ride. If you have some mild fear of heights, this can get you when you look at the structure from below, it’s quite impressive and you are so close to it. The chains and the seats look so thin and small, but it is pretty solid and well done, each pair of seats are together and there are 8 chain links in total for both. They look very well maintained. The metal rod doesn’t really restrain you to the seat, it’s more so you don’t squeeze down on purpose or as a handle bar. The seatbelt is the actual thing holding you to the seat, and the force from spinning. The actual ride was so peaceful and relaxing until the spinning hits maximum speed, then the wind on your face makes it quite fun. The seats will rock sideways here and there and that is very exciting. At night was lovely to do because the city at night is beautiful, but i prefer during the day, it feels taller when you can see the city better and see how small the houses get. The fear of heights didn’t kick at all when riding it or when looking down from the top, the ride feels so smooth compared to a roller coaster (I rode Mako and Manta a few times that day at Sea World) so it actually is pretty gentle. However the moment i was on the top spinning fast and I looked up to the tip of the structure, vertigo kicked in and i felt dizzy for like two seconds. I would totally recommend for a good time, even if you are not into roller coasters, the build up is way scarier than the actual ride. And if you are a thrill seeker, still worth it for the view and the wind. But if you wanna make it more exciting, do what I did, go in the morning, on a windy day that makes your chair turn on place, and look up. PS: don’t try to take your phone and hold it in your hand to record, the wind gets pretty strong while spinning and turning so you will lose your grip, and if it falls on someone from that height, you will hurt someone pretty badly, there is no safety net underneath. Also, you won’t enjoy the view while you battle the wind. She wanted to record from the top, so we went to a close Best Buy, we got a GoPro camera with the strap, secured it tightly on her and went up again. We did not hide it or ask before hand, they saw us with it and nobody said nothing.
Your a brave man Tim. I’ll give that one a miss the next time I’m on holiday in Orlando. The view looks spectacular, but I’d have a fear induced heart attack for sure.
Every time I ride the world's tallest swing another one gets built. First Six Flags Over Texas, then Six Flags New England. Looks like its time to ride the Orlando one on my next visit. Thanks Tim for a great video. Looks like you do twirl around a bit like the other ones I have ridden. During high winds on the Texas one, your seats twist so much that you are practically going side ways.
I went on the star flyer twice last weekend, I honestly loved it! It was very intimidating at first but then I decided to face my fear. So glad I did! Such a awesome feeling!
Just rode this. Super super fun. Would recommend. And it's only 12 dollars to ride. 7 dollars to go again. Was scared at first but took a shot before hand. Thats the way to do it.
My hands are sweating... I always imagined that the chains on the small version break and thought about my survival chances 😂. I was a weird kid - No way I'm gonna do this.
That's what I love about Orlando, you got this kiddie park Disney World but then right around the corner you have the Star Flyer 450 feet in the air and 60 mph swing.
OMGEEEE! Were you about to say it was relaxing? EEKS! As I watched your video I was hanging onto the armrests of my recliner. LOL! And you sound so calm afterwards. Amazing! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Most definitely rode it tonight . Intense @ first . Very therapeutic atop like you said. Rode it around 9. Then watched someone fall off thier bar stool @ the bar there. Was freezing. Great review.
Windseeker freaked me the hell out even WITH the sturdiness. I was expecting it to feel super sturdy, but it still felt "wiggly" to me. That ride was a one and done for me. I'll stick to coasters, Prof Dilbert's, and Power Tower lol.
If you liked all the nice, calm parts of this ride, I recommend riding the Windseeker at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. I don’t think it goes as high as the star flyer, but it goes pretty high and gives a beautiful view of the theme park and the city, especially at night! It’s pretty slow and very relaxing. It’s still not great if you’re afraid of heights, but it’s the kind of ride I could fall asleep on. Super relaxing!
I'm guessing it was to focus on the area around and including the ride rather than just one ride. Orlando Eye would be the ride, ICON Orlando would be the "park."
Okay, so... we watched this the day you posted, and it looked like a steaming cup of NOPE. My husband came home early from work today, asked if I wanted to go somewhere, and I said yes. This is where he drove me. X-D We rode twice- the second time weather was blowing in and it was nuts! Thanks for the inspo.
I'm afraid of heights, so there's no way I'd go on the ride, but thanks for showing us what it would be like. I can't believe you were so calm and looking all around. I'd be hanging on for dear life and not moving an inch.
Its terrifying to look at, we went to a steakhouse (Charleys Steakhouse I think) and it was right next door so we had to park right behind the area to ride this and i looked up and got hella sick lol!!!
Great footage Tim. I am there soon and was wondering what this was like and this really helps us decide if we are going to do this. Again, you give us a great true look at what to expect. ...Thanks.
I'd have to be sedated to ride this. SO afraid of heights, especially when not feeling very "secured" and "safe". Locked in tight, maybe, but not this flimsy belt and all of the space around. Kudos to you Tim!
Wow! Great video! Awesome!!! I’m coming down to Orlando in a few weeks and I’m definitely going to ride that a few times! I can’t wait. Thanks again!!!
I've only recently discovered your UA-cam videos. I'm loving them! I'm currently saving up to head back to Orlando for the first time since 2012. All these NEW experiences I'm gonna have!!! 😁 Keep the videos coming! 👍
I can’t wait to see this star flyer! I will get on that someday!!! Wow Tim thank you for this video! Gosh amazing🌼💙. Not bad price I better get down to Florida before they jack up the price! Fun fun I love this ride! I’ve been in this Icon Orlando in Vegas though it was a 30 minute ride in Vegas. How long was the Orlando I ride?
Holy cow!! You are way better then me. I have been on the windseeker swings at carowinds which I believe were around 300ish feet high. I was scared to death lol. The swings at carowinds seem more stable because they do not swing from chains and the seats are larger. I dont think I would be able to go on this star flyer because I may have a heart attack if I do hahahahhhh. Thanks for showing the food at the Paris cafe. that looked amazing and I have been wanting to try out some of those places to eat around there and I will be sure to check that one out !!
I knew you would do this ride!! Wow! Amazing! I went in the Orlando eye at night which was very cool, but my knees were shaking after!! You are a very brave soul!! I don't think I could do it!
I'll be the first of many to say thank you for filming this cause I won't be . Holy cow no :-o

The moment Tim casually says "That whole time that I was up there, i didnt even realize.. -can we talk about how small these chains are?" @ 6:31 😅😂

I’m coming down to Orlando in a few weeks and I’m definitely going to ride that a few times! I can’t wait.
Thanks again!!!
Nope nope nope nope. Way braver than I am. I am glad I can experience though you Tim but i will not be doing it myself.
Looks amazing and plan to do it. Thank you for the vlog.
My husband keeps saying hell no.
My Hub's 6' 350 frightened tremendously over heights!
I was a bundle of nerves the whole time watching you ! But you gave a fantastic feel for what it's like! Great video!
There is absolutely no way I would ever, and I mean EVER ride that swing of death. 😱 You are brave, my friend.
You wouldn't die under no circumstances
I've only recently discovered your UA-cam videos. I'm loving them! I'm currently saving up to head back to Orlando for the first time since 2012. All these NEW experiences I'm gonna have!!! 😁 Keep the videos coming! 👍
My ideal vacation to ORLANDO would be 30 days in Orlando. This way I wouldn’t need to cram everything in like 7 days - 10 days!
the fact that you can hold that Go Pro and still stay on the swing is amazing.. Great footage, good job, thanks
Ramon Mota Thank you! 🌴
I saw this thumbnail and seriously said “oh no! They DIDNT!” You sir, are brave.
When Tim was panning the camera around my feet were crushing from the inside while sitting in my chair. Not sure if I could do this lol.
Great video! I love how much effort to put in to delivering a amazing video every day. K x
Tim can u and Jen go to Old Town please???
i'm pretty sure they did back in December 2017
Bridget Clement Old town yes! I go there everytime I visit Florida.
Dena Osterberg I found video of tim visiting old town after i posted that. Thanks
NO WAY LOL......my 11 year old and my husband would love this
Holy macaroni. Uh, no. I wouldn't ride! But, loved your camera views.
We been there last weekend and I never tried to ride that. I just go in ferris wheel nice video I loved it
How on earth can u ride that and stay so calm about it
I know and has a conversation with us!!!! I think IF i managed to get on id be screaming or mute with fear
You da MAN, Tim! Thanx for sharing this with us!!
What about bird strikes?
Grimace The Menace Yeah, but you're not moving (at 60 mph!) on the tower...
holy macaroni! I love your attitude when you talk to us your viewers on youtube!
I literally sat down on this, looked up, then told them to get me off of it 😂😂
LOL
These swinging rides give the impression of tipping over. You forget how strong they are. Its not the heights that get you.
I knew you would do this ride!! Wow! Amazing! I went in the Orlando eye at night which was very cool, but my knees were shaking after!! You are a very brave soul!! I don't think I could do it!
