The year I started watching baseball with my family. To this day I still research stats about those teams from 1996 to 2000 and watch regular season, post season and World Series games. My four favorite athletes will always be in no order Jeter, Bernie, Mariano and The Warriror. Some would say that I am obsessed with those teams and that era of baseball LOL
The thing that was amazing was that the Yankees won with their farm system and cast-off, not big named free agents for the most part.
You know what’s this team had that our team doesn’t?

My father took me to my first Yankee game I been a loyal fan ever since 27 years 16 AL East titles 7 pennants 5 World Series Championships 8 AL Wild Cards

While the 96 team started the dynasty man that 98 team was something else. Growing up seeing that as an 80s and 90s kid I definitely took them for granted when you think they'll win that much every year. Nobody does and man do I miss Mariano.
As a Yankees fan this means nothing to me. We consistently cant get it done in the modern days 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I agree I told my sister recently that 20 years ago people told me it was hard being a cubs and Mets fan it's the opposite today irs hard being a yankee fan.

I cherish that 96 team. The first championship i witnessed in my lifetime. Yeah I love all the championships. However the 96 is the close that is close to my heart.

Growing up as a Yankees fan during a Yankees Dynasty is something else.. it's like nothing you can experience as a sports fan. These yankees are my yankees.

Braves fans should forever be salty about being up 2-0 winning both in the Bronx handily only to lose the next 4 despite their stacked roster. Even after winning in 2021, it doesn’t feel complete until they beat the Yankees.

Outside of 1996-2000, the Yankees have ONE ring since 1979!!!
George being suspended was critical to this dynasty happening in the first place. He really wasn’t that great of an owner beyond his desire to win.
@@yankeefan1018 Yep, Gene Michael and his front office emphasized rebuilding the team through the farm system and keeping young talent in the organization. In the 1980’s they traded away a lot of good young talent like Doug Drabek, Jay Buhner and Willie McGee. Without Steinbrenner around they were able to keep Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera in the organization and then add talent around those guys through shrewd trades and free agent signings.

Good old time. Cashman wasn't the GM. Gene Michael built it. Cashman sunk this team with Hal Steinbranner. Elon Musk or Jeff Bazos needs to buy this team. Give Hal Steinbranner an offer he can't refuse you know either his brain or his signature 😉.
You say "sunk this team" but outside of the 1996-2000 window, the Yankees have a mere ONE ring since 1979 - that's 43 years(!) with only a 5 year window where you were actually as good as you said you were!

@@romanboxing3959 Plus there's no defending Cashman's refusal to fire Boone after 2021 which further exacerbate the problems, if this keeps up we may see Judge turning into Mattingly 2.0 given that they have already wasted a generation and ruined the promise they had going in 2017.

Can’t win them all if there are better teams out there. The Yankees didn’t get enough pitching which is Cashmans fault.
@@romanboxing3959 It's his job to build a better team and the Yankees were expected to contend for the title, not simply be satisfied with making postseason appearance. The guy had made some questionable acquisitions like Donaldson, Roden, and Gallo never mind Boone had made moves at that time defies common sense which got worse when the team makes it to the postseason. Not getting enough pitching isn't the only problem as the line up would have too many inconsistences and injury issues which even Judge gets hit by as well. That's not the team that would go far if these weren't addressed.
