I would definitely be taking Rodney everywhere I go so he could sniff out the rats! I really enjoy your monthly tours and harvest videos. Thanks for sharing.
I wondered that you know but I definitely have had flowers off it, would the other cultivar ever flower? I'll have to google over the winter. Maybe it was too stressed this year to flower otherwise.
Lemon verbena doesn’t like cold so if temps drop below 5C it says to cut down to a few inches as they will lose all their leaves anyway and put in the greenhouse or inside. So odd seeing empty beds but you have had a great year. 13:39 trail cam to see what’s eating the potatoes 🥔 and peas 🫛. Yiu definitely can see lots of future meals still to come. I cut off the tops of my brussels sprouts and eat like a cabbage. Perhaps you had sunglasses 😎 on 🤣🤣 last time you wandered about. Good luck with the garlic 👍, have a fab day, Ali ☔️🇨🇦
Thank you Ali, I'm going to do that this w/e and harvest what's left on it. such a change to the garden without the structures as you say. I think, hope, this food will last us a good while. Fingers crossed - I'll be reporting back. Take care and I can't wait to get stuck in to your seeds!
I'm happy and annoyed at the same time! Happy I found this channel and annoyed UA-cam hasn't notified me of local channels! Subbed and can't wait to binge watch a local channel! 😁
I saw a video recently that had artichokes loosely wrapped in bundles. Like stooks of wheat or corn 🌽. Looked like soft cord wrapped around to help stop them drooping/spreading out over pathways. Might be worth trying this method to keep yours more manageable. Looked very smart.
I really appreciate the feedback, they seem to be working for the most part! When I remember to turn them on haha! So lovely to be planting for next season and planning ahead.
Hey there Tracy! Been having a binge watch to catch up on the last few videos and you’ve both outdone yourselves. Great content as always. You’ve had a fabulous summer in the veg plot - so productive. All that hard work over winter certainly paid off. 👍 Steven’s butchery vids were epic and so informative. I might add the filming of those was excellent too - different angles and close ups to show the viewer exactly what he was doing. 👌 80% moved in to our new home, soon we can resume our normal viewing habits and tune in more regularly to our favourite smallholders in the North. 😉 xx
Ahh so lovely to see a comment from you guys. Thank you, its all gone a bit bonkers! We are so pleased with how the garden has gone, always can do better but enjoy what's worked hey? How very kind of you for the videos, Steven is feeling much more comfortable and I'm loving the videoing (is that the right word haha). I have been thinking of you moving!! I hope it's all going well for everyone xx
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure gardens and nature in general always teach us it’s a work in progress - yep, enjoy what works and learn from the rest. 😉 Can’t wait until we are fully moved but it’s all going better than we dared hope. 👌 Moving all (at least we hope so!) the potted plants and veg this weekend! 👍 xx
Another great video.... am i jealous of your cauliflower...hell yes! It's so good to see your subscriber numbers grow so quickly 😊 I think the cherry tree should be printed in July or August would be worth checking before doing it. We've fine am apple, blackcurrant and rosemary jelly and plan on making apple and sage this weekend
That sounds delicious!! Thank you on the cherry tree, a few people have said that but I thought it was any time in Autumn so I shall definitely check that! Subs are all down to Ste's butchering video, it's fab (and a little unnerving LOL)
Good catch up on the garden still lots of food left, looking at the corn it reminds me that this year half of my was eaten by mouse 🐁 some one told me for next year to put socks or crisp packs on them definitely will try that next year 😊
Cauliflowers! They look amazing. We’ve never been able to grow them successfully, they’ve always blown and gone yellow before they’re ready to harvest. Loved the whirlwind tour 😊
just an idea for next year, i used bachelors seeping peas ,you know the ones for making mushy peas and the crop i got was fantastic i had to spread them out over the year to harvest at different times .One box will last two or three years depending on how much you want to grow ,no prep just drop them into a hole and watch them grow.
I bought the "Ivory Belle' pumpkin seed for next year. It's from the butternut family, but suppose to grow faster and harvest is more early (the thing with butternut that is always a bit of a problem is that they are a late to ripen variety)
Lovely little walk around and good to see those amazing cauliflowers (thinking cauliflower cheese) for Sunday lunch. Garlic is in here as wanted to get it in before the storm came over the weekend. x
Sutherland kale ,we live on it all winter, made into crisp like with sea salt or fried with leaf lard ,garlic, onions etc in an omelette...feed of kings 😎👍🏻 everything looks great ,its getting used to the abundance thats challenging...#winning
Hi, loving the channel, hope you don"t mind me asking but what breed of dog is Rodney? as i am after a pup and think your one is just the right size for my home, many thanks.
Vermin will stay were their food source is. They know that area always has food in for them so they'll stay close by. Get some garden cats to get rid of them.
Thank you for this! I thought Autumn was good for this but I shall hang fire. Was hoping to tidy it up a bit as overhangs the path but maybe that will cause problems too as would be basically the same as pruning!
I would definitely be taking Rodney everywhere I go so he could sniff out the rats! I really enjoy your monthly tours and harvest videos. Thanks for sharing.
That is very kind, thank you. You're welcome :)
The carpet of camomile could be the cultivar used for camomile lawns. Try walking on it, Tracey; see if it releases a scent. 😊

@@OurSmallholdingAdventure haha sorry !
You have a wonderful garden full of life😊. Your video was so fine and I am amazed so many vegetables you grow. All the best to you.
That's very kind of you, thank you.
Your cauliflower and sweetcorn were fantastic well done
Thank you! feels good !
I take my lemon verbena to the greenhouse overwinter. I have lost outside ones even down here in the South.
Thanks Karen, seems to be the theme so I shall do this too.
Ooh Apple Mint Jelly, yes please I’d love to see that.
❤️

Agreed, that sounds like a very sensible approach. I'm sure someone is planting more when I'm not looking.
You sound great with the mics on!! I'm pulling my garden for the season also and work starts on the new garden area.
I really appreciate the feedback, they seem to be working for the most part! When I remember to turn them on haha! So lovely to be planting for next season and planning ahead.
Great video as always. Best to bring in your lemon verbena. It's not warm enough here to overwinter it outside.
Thank you Lorraine - I shall get on to that this weekend.

Thank you Andrew - I've heard a few people do this and I'm intrigued! Might give it a go, did you sow in Spring?
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure I planted early spring and about every two weeks after that this way you get a constant supply for most of the year

I'm going to do this! Thank you!
Here in France French beans are beans and runner beans are Spanish beans.
Love that!
use the comfy for making organic nutrients
Thank you, absolutely! It grows so fast
This year is just going to fast I can't believe it's already October
I know, right!?
If you had an overflow of let’s say…. Lemon balm, mint or nettle….perhaps there is a local soap maker, tea market that would buy the excess?…🇨🇦🍄🟫🍂🍁
We have looked in to this for some of our veg so may do for this too - thanks for the idea

How kind, thank you! Rodney has cairn terrier in him, however he's a mixed breed and believe it or not, Buster the other small one is his brother!
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure thank you very much
Hello it is best to prune stone fruits like cherries in the summer time of the year, not in autumn.
Thank you - I am glad people have said, much appreciated
Where abouts in the north east i am in county durham (newton aycliffe)
We're from Stockton originally! You'll recognise some of the places we video as you're close by the sounds of it :)
Vermin will stay were their food source is. They know that area always has food in for them so they'll stay close by. Get some garden cats to get rid of them.
You're right - it's strange though as food sources in all the beds, maybe they just like that one the best haha. Thanks Lisa!
Please don’t prune your cherry until next summer. You will make it prone to disease. Great produce 😊
