Isn't it nice when all the old crops are taken down and removed , a lovely rich bed off manure on the top and sweet dreams about what to plant next year . Enjoyed it.

Love your videos. Recently purchased a 3 acre smallholding east of Carlisle so probably same climate as you have. Good to see how someone a few year on is getting along. Gives me hope 😂

A productive couple of days and the beds look great all mulched for winter. You’ll have beautiful soil in there next year. Those stone slabs must have been so slippery to move but it looks smart and hopefully will do the trick. I usually order from DT Brown too, but have just received in the post a seed catalogue from Kings Seeds. Thought I might give them a go as never used them before. It’s lovely that your children help outside too. A great family effort.

Hi, loving your content, we have a large allotment and preserve our bounty every year. The only live stock we have is 30 chickens, and soon, hopefully, bees. We planted an orchard 9 years ago when we acquired the land. I'm envious of you owning yours... just another thing you could do is apple syrup and birch syrup made exactly like maple 🍁 syrup. You just boil it right down until thick. If you have birch trees, you tap them for the sap, and the apple syrup is made with the apple juice. It's just another product to add to your pantry shelf.xx

Thank you kindly! We only have 1 or 2 birch but love the idea - best of luck when you get those bees!!

I never grow my pole beans on teepee poles. I use PVC-coated Steel Wire mesh. I just put a couple of big poles in the ground (about 1,7 m high) in a U shape and hang the mesh between them (I use 1 m high mesh and put 2 above each other and flip the last half meter over (like a little roof). The U shape makes it a strong structure. Makes harvest much easier because the beans can grow next each other and form a wall. I've seen people grow them on cattle panels also, but I just use a cheap fence mesh wire with big holes (so I can put my hand trough the holes).
My favorite pole bean is Monte Gusto, a very nice yellow bean. Easy to grow, nice long (up to 25 cm) tasty beans and little to no thread, great to put in the freezer, you can collect the seed if you want for next years harvest. And a very long harvest (even during fall if the weather is good and the bees are still around). I saw them in pots in april and plant them outside when the last frost is gone (in Belgium that is May 15), every 5 cm or so. I think I had my first beans in June this year and had them till oktober. And harvest almost every 2 days when the weather is good.

Hey. A good solution and also it will overtime be more fertility in your bank , just get a couple of loads of tree surgeons wood chip dropped off and cover all the ground in the duck pen . And top it up when needed , more compost for the future and nice clean ducks to boot.
