I often use an “if and then” contingency in place for my kiddos which will be based on what their EO is. Sometimes it is hard to know what a child will work for. When they ask for an activity or attention, the contingency is that when they complete a known expectation correctly they will receive the activity or attention. When they begin to engage in problem behaviors during the expected contingency I will ask them what they are working for to help them get back on track or when they ask for the activity/attention, I will remind them that they have to complete their work first. Antecedently I always give them the information that they can earn the things they want when the complete the expectation. It was suggested that this might be bribery. Can you help?
