I LOVE yoUR MUSIC
wonderful job. thank you! you are amazing! (hint) but I still have to say Erroll Garner.
All of them were my favorite
And a woman’s hands finally
what if 'Misty' was played by one legendary youtube pianist?
Yesssssss
HAHAHAHAHAHA LOL
Actually tho we really wanna hear your version Jimin!!!
True!
She is really THE ONE...impressive !!!
This is absolutely amazing.
Ladies and gentlemen, THE world famous Josh Turner!!!!
@@dsnaggsh1842 yeah haha, hi Josh!! :)
Josh's version is great too! Check it out if you haven't!
Wasn't expecting to see you here
The man himself
You can feel Bill Evan's heart and soul in every song he played. It's so sad that his life fell apart from drugs and depression then died at the age of 51.
it’s so sad because it’s the same case with many other jazz legends
@@jasonhernandez8303 really? Now I wonder who else
@@slowcuber_aze Charlie Parker, Chet baker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Art Blakey and other musician’s had drug problems that affected them badly
@@jasonhernandez8303 ohh... that's so sad. Thank you for information
@@jasonhernandez8303damn thats sad
The Bill Evans voicing were spot on, it felt as if he was there playing the actual tune. Bravo!!
Truth be told everyones impression was spot on. Timing, dynamics the whole 9. But on the Oscar and Tatum impression the only lacked the hand strength and sheer finger weight to key velocity. But those guys could literally crush your hand if you shook it but this took time, effort and study. Well done bravo!!!!☺️
and adam neely just uploaded his “what is the misty chord” video!! the timing 😌😌
You should know that Erroll Garner was born in a day just like this, in June the 15th
Siii... Justo iba a decir lo mismo!
And my teacher just told me to start working on Misty...this is indeed great timing!
Great minds think alike…
Las grandes mentes piensan igual…
Funny because she played the misty chord for Barry Harris but not for Oscar Peterson...
This is truly a fucking incredible display of musicianship at the highest level!! I am truly blown away!

Oh my god. You are unbelievable. You are literally preserving the history of the greatest American artform.
Thank you so much. This means so much to so many people.
고맙습니다
I wish music like this would come back. I truly believe that people in general would be a lot happier. The pop music of today is so depressing. They either whine or they scream and shout into a microphone, singing about really crude and depressing stuff.
This is ridiculous... the amount of knowledge you had to have learned in making this must have taken your playing to the next level!
This reminds me of Nahre Sol's "Happy Birthday in the style of" series, but while hers is with classical composers, yours is with jazz pianists. This video fills in the gap that she doesn't cover, love the arrangements!
I thought this too
I’m just amazed that the human brain can even think, let alone play, such incredibly beautiful and creative music! I’d love to see more of these. Great job.
As soon as I saw the first chord on the Barry Harris version, I knew just how much time and effort you've spent listening to these great players and absorbing their styles. Major chord a half step under a major 7 chord is quintessential Barry Harris, and he talks about that very chord and style in his masterclasses about this song.
Really great job on this, Jimin. I'm blown away by the versatility!
The Bill Evans one got me
He puts so much feeling into his music
SAME
Agreed.
진짜 아티스트 한분한분 연구한 티가 나고 그루브와 강세까지 표현하려고 하신 정성이 대단하시네요.... 항상 많이 배우고 갑니다!
wow the Evans one; that progression with upper structures from 1.52 to 2.03 made me literally cry.
wonderful job 👏👏👏
OMG, the Barry Harris and Mulgrew Miller examples are so spot on. The two biggest surprises to me, no doubt.
You and Walk That Bass are some of the most underrated jazz pianist channels out there. Phenomenal job as always!
Honestly, it looks sped up.
How insane is it that it is real time?
@@rockplay100 nope... That isn't sped up at all. Accept that she's got some great skills.
You remind me of people who see magic and say ''it's camera trick'', or something in the sky = ''it's a UFO''. Haha
A SHARED sentiment my friend
@@rockplay100 go watch anomalie lol
that plagal cadence on the V chord in the OP one was slick
Jacob Collier vibes
Hi Casey
@@ConnMannMusic you don't need to be here you already know how to play like this
Wow this is so amazing. Even though Erroll’s version is quite known you still made a different version that he would indeed play. Great stuff!!
Each time I hear something that’s in the style of Bill Evans or the man himself playing.... it sounds really sad yet so full and round in tone, it’s completely beautiful
this is my first time commenting, but heck- more of these please! It's c r a z y helpful having you not only show us how each style sounds, but the characteristics of each style in theoretical terms. I've been following this channel for a while and while all of your other stuff is already amazing, this is definitely a whole other level imo. Thank you so much for this!!!!
Please do a part two to this! I would love to hear some others, like Hank Jones, Wynton Kelly, Thelonius Monk, Herbie Hancock, Duke Ellington, and more!
MONK KNOW
Yes, I kept waiting to hear the Thelonius Monk arrangement: _'Look at me, I'm as Helpless as a Kitten up a Tree'_ variation! 🎼 🎶 😹 🎄 - j q t -
This girl is incredibly talented.
Thank you for a wonderful summation of what makes these players great. Their harmonic interpretations are theirs not just a replay of someone else's. A lesson in music improvisation not regurgitation - to quote Miles Davis "you can play anything so long as you remember where home is"
これだけの分析は、凄い!誰もが語り得なかったお話しです。感謝します。
First, I was emotionally moved by listening to this. Second, your knowledge of jazz pianists is very good, only exceeded by your musicianship.
You understand the theory so well behind each artist and have such a flawless technique that it is almost disrupting. You're a piano chameleon! It questions the musical identity. You are a genius :)
What a beautiful pianist you are. Wish this kind of music would come back. People would be so much happier. Eorll Garner is my favorite. He looks truly happy when he plays. So much feeling. They all are great.
이 콘텐츠 진짜 대박인 것 같아요ㅠㅠ 다른 스탠다드들도 시리즈로 해주세욥...
I was just literally practicing Misty and you came out with this video. You're such a huge help, thanks a lot Jimin!👊
This was so breathtaking and amazing, Im truly speechless. I think I impulsively shouted "oh my god" at the beginning of her interpretation of Barry Harris. Honestly this video should have WAY more views. This is just gorgeous.
This is so beautiful! I love that you show the licks unique to each pianist, yet connect them all with a common thread. Thanks for honoring them, and us,with your remarkable and heartfelt talents.
YOUR CHOPS ARE INSANE. YOUR MUSIC IS INSPIRING. Oh my lord, every video you upload is such an amazing experience hahahah
Amazing. You did such a beautiful & accurate job of capturing these legends' unique styles. Buying the PDF right now, what a great resource!
This is amazing. I wish things like this would be done more often. It's great to hear different ways of playing the same tune.
This was such a treat to listen to. Not only that, you explain all the chord progressions and music theory and it’s so great for me as I start to learn what all of that means. Thank you!!!!
And then there were 9 legendary pianists
I absolutely love Red Garland’s “Over the Rainbow.” He was such a beautiful jazz pianist.
This is so beautiful, playing on repeat 😍
This was GREAT! Thank you for this.
I love this. Please do more of these. Love your channel.
Absolutely wonderful.
You covered nearly all my all time favourite pianists. And you really nailed them!
Teachers always taught me to study the greats, but they never could demonstrate it themselves quite like this... I thought nobody could, untill now. You nailed it. R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!!
so happy to see how jimin’s beautiful playing has brought the jazz community together on youtube. there is so much knowledge to be shared and pass down!
Wow, this is amazing! Great job!
You are a true student of the art - thank you for sharing your gift with us ♥️
Amazing playing. Just brilliant
One of the most informative and well done videos I’ve seen in a while. Thank you.
That was awesome. Thanks for that!!
Arghhh this is so amazing! I feel like I could take this and analyze it all day and learn so much.
Thanks for the video!
A fantastic study and so flawless!
I love your playing got me in tears thank you
This is incredible. Soooo well done. It's inspiring me to go back and study the greats again!
That was absolutely phenomenal. Inspirational. So much understanding and technicality. I will eagerly wait for the "What if 'Misty' was played by Jimindorothy?" video.
My favorite was Barry Harris. Nicely done!

I prefer Bud Powell :)
@@bialowolski Tomasz! Yes brother!
@@bialowolski Barry Harris learned from Bud.
@@musical_lolu4811 of course. This is why I prefer Bud Powell example, for me it’s the same as Barry Harris style
I LOVE YOU FOR PLAYING AND DOING THIS FOR US, Dorothy !
Thank you, its really helpful to see all these different possibilities! 😊
WOAAAAHH! Great stuff... Also, very clever choice of the ordering, leaving the more bouncy b section for Tatum and Peterson.
Wow, this is incredible. Most of these are pretty convincing. Especially the bud powell and the art tatum ones. Amazing work👍
Awesome! Explaining the nuances that the different players styles used is so helpful and fun to watch
I am blown away by ever performance and arrangement you post. Your playing and feel is absolute perfection. Love this
Loved it! A surprisingly comprehensive (not to mention enjoyable) introduction to the fundamentals of Jazz in under 4 ½ min.
Thank you. You honor the talent of so many, and in so doing, honor yourself. Your playing is superb, but also the work of putting together this video is over the top.
I feel Misty.
Bravo! Thank you! I enjoyed that so much!
So inspiring. This is amazing!! Nailing it
This was EXTRAORDINARY!!! The Peterson and Tatum arrangements were mind blowing!
재즈에 대한 지식은 없지만 지민님 채널 그냥 듣고 있으면 너무 좋아요ㅜ
There’s a lot to dissect here! Thank you!!
this was wonderful, thank you
Listening to this was like taking an “E” ride through Piano Fantasyland. Thank you !🙏🏽
It's so beautiful, and soooo true (for the pianists' styles)!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Love your channel and videos!!!
You NAILED it!! Wow, a round of applause for you!
What a masterpiece compilation. I could only dream of hearing this on the acoustic piano.... Thanks for another great video!
A good challenge would be to get the sheets and practice it yourself on an acoustic piano! That’s what I want to do :)
Girl you're a genius!!!!
This is a fantastic video, thanks!!
This is so so impressive - could be a jazz piano course on its own! And fantastic playing (as usual).
선생님덕에 재즈가 너무 좋아졌습니다 정말 감사합니다.
This simply marwellous, spiritually inspirative - and wonderful honor for all pianists, whom gived us a big pleasure by these ritch table of the taste of music, wich presented by them. Fantastic video - and really joyful, pleasureful caleidoscope about the different instrumental language by different jazz pianists.
You're by far my favorite pianist and youtuber. Thanks for your amazing work!!
Wonderfully played, and I like your captions
Following names are for my list for harmonic originality-Bud Powell, Barry Harris, Mulgrew Miller, Art Tatum, Bill Evans.
Bud Powell is my number one for his creativity!
I’ve never been this early. Thank you for reinspiring my love of piano
Amazing, perfect and very illustrative!
This is fabulous. Amazing!
The Bud Powell arrangement reminds me of him on It Could Happen To You which I’m transcribing at the moment.
The original “Erroll Garner”
I laughed at that too ahaha. Brilliant!
I have no words.
That's amazing!!! amazing 🔥
Wow. Brilliant. And very instructive! Thank you!
Erroll Garner impression was on point! Props to you 👏👏
빌에반스가 화려하지 않지만 가장 마음을 울리는 해석이라 좋다
동감합니다
this deserves so much more recognition. beautiful playing 👍
You are amazing, Jiminy. I absolutely adore your beautiful skills and truly belive that you must have had some great affection for these masters that you pay tribute too
Erroll Garner’s will always be my all time fave piano piece.
Misty 는 존재가 사기인 곡인듯.. 안좋은 버전이없네요ㅠ
곡도 그렇지만 이 대가들의 연주를 레퍼런스로 잡은 연주인데 안좋을 수가..
Thank you for that beautiful music lesson!
Videos like this make life worth living! Thank you !
Sheesh. Just sheesh. That accuracy of nailing these other musicians. Now one more. How would YOU do it?! I’m interested.
Bill Evans has been summoned. I must pray
Gotta love these Tea for Two arpeggios that you played, truly amazing
I just want you to know how talented you are. It is amazing and inspiring. I really couldn't ever expect to be in the same category as playing like yourself or the artists you covered but go in my own direction.
