Sandwich bags. You can always get fruit and a sandwich from the boat and take them with you to the port to eat while are on shore. Saves money on buying food at port.
We bring those individual size drink packets. Small & easy to pack. Gatorade, Crystal Light, etc. Bring a refillable water bottle, get some ice & water at the buffet, and you have your own soft drinks.
Opposite of your topic 😃. At end of cruises or any vacation, I like luggage as light as possible and/or to save room for souvenirs. So I leave my toiletries behind for crew/hotel staff (toothpaste, floss, body spray, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, fem products, etc) (of course not deodorant). I warn room attendant and they appreciate items
We also pack a pop-up laundry hamper for dirty clothes, and we have a tiny portable washing machine so we don't have to pack as much. We also pack our detergent pods or sheets, to save money. If you are flying, make sure to have a charger plug. Don't use the public charging stations, because they may or may not be safe. We charge our phones by plugging them in, or using a portable charger. I loved her tip about the empty backpack. We've been doing this for years and it is always helpful.
Benadryl and Benadryl Cream. I have bad allergies so I always have an abundance of benadryl (liquid and Pills) and benadryl cream with me. Every cruise I end up giving some to several different people. Most didn't even know they had an allergy or got bit by bugs. Always cary Benadryl.
For cash I would go to the casino because it charges to your room then you just cash out from the slot machine. It worked great and saved money from the ATM.
I always take a brita or lifestraw water bottle with filter on my cruises. Then i dont have to worry about quality of water i am putting in it. Just a little extra care in case i end up somewhere and have to use questionable faucet.
Being an over packer, I pack all that you stated and so much more, lol. I don’t like traveling somewhere and I end up being uncomfortable or have to pay for something I could have easily brought along with us. I would suggest people bring a compact water bottle. I brought some on our last cruise and it saved so much space in our bags. I would also suggest compact sunscreen, like the sticks. And my daughter introduced me to these which are laundry sheets. This is great for travel & take up less space than a liquid and you don’t have to worry about it spilling or meeting tsa regulations.
Hi, I am new to this channel, and I just started watching your videos, I actually do take tide pods and a small thing of fabric softener I also put dyer sheets all in one Ziplock bag that way it's all in one bag and they don't get lost or leak out. I hope to take my first cruise in the next year or 2 but I love watching videos like this to get an idea of cruising, Keep up the great content and videos.
Great tips, as usual! My wife is sensitive to the sun, we pack a travel size umbrella for port days & on long trips a travel pillow is nice to have (the boys need their naps!~😂) ❤👍
Just found your channel. LOVE IT!! Our last cruise was for 10 days. We overpacked so much that they probably thought we were smuggling ball bearings. It was ridiculous. There is definitely a sweet spot with packing. Thanks so much for the advice. We are heading out again in a couple of weeks. We will be much lighter this time 😅
For my phone, I have two cases. One has a sturdy cross body strap, one has a stretchy wrist strap. Saves accidental dropping, and deters the snatch and grab thieves as well.
Packing cash will also save a lot of money negotiating with shore vendor discounts. Cash is king👑. I use a security money belt. //I have this theory that packing lighter saves money. Because the less you carry, the less tired you will be, the more energy and value (hours saved from resting) you get enjoying your cruise.
Use your foldable bag as a packing cube. I use mine to keep my smaller bags together so that they are not jostling in my carryon. Tip. Pack 2 weeks before, determine what you are missing. Weigh all bags. Then 1 week before, make a goal of reducing the weight by 10%. Get realistic about what you truly need for excursions. Tip: pack a 2 or 3 Oz bottle of hydrogen peroxide. It has multiple uses like disinfectant, mouthwash/teeth brightener, stain remover for certain fabrics and stains. I like my mouthwash so I use a small spray bottle too, a three to four squirts and I've freshened up. It decreases how much mouthwash you need. Tip: pack some clothing to leave behind, pitch in trash or if lucky, place in donation box. I bring a few items that are going out of style or cannot justify mending anymore. It makes more room for souvenirs and you don't have to pay for overweight. Definitely capsule wardrobe, use scarves, belts, accessories to change it up. Tip: bring leftover bubble wrap, tape, and lightweight boxes broken down if you think you may buy something breakable. Tip: This only helps if you bank with a major bank. Chase, BoA do not charge a fee for foreign currency purchases. To protect my card number from getting hacked, I'm a cash person is possible and you can haggle. I make a budget for what I'm willing to spend in port and get the currency. I only use my card as a back up. Also, download an app that will calculate the currency to your country currency. This will help protect you from overspending, not getting the right change and even being overcharged. Also, pay cash in airports. I had to friends that got their card numbers and didn't find out until they landed in another country. Tip: use a disposable container to pack low sodium/low sugar foods to eat on plane. Keeps you from bloating too much. Then you can either pitch it or in my case, I put my smaller breakable in it. Tip: at end of trip, make notes of what you used and didn't use. This way, if you do thesame or similar trip, you know what you need. Tip: It's OK if you run out. Rarely do we go to a port that you can't get it. Don't be that hard on yourself to bring everything.
Suggestion. I buy water at the cruise port before I get back on the ship. I am not sure how much you can take back on. I normally take 1 or 2 large bottles to hold me to the next port.
If you like to spend some time in your cabin relaxing it's a good idea to bring a tablet with you preloaded with some of your favorite shows and movies on it because there isn't much to watch for free on TV on cruise ships these days so having that could save you from doing pay-per-view movies in your room or worse spending hundreds of dollars on high-speed internet to stream Netflix lol
Most if not all of what you said is spot-on. My wife and I do Mexico cruises quite often. We will usually exchange dollars for pesos at a currency exchange near our home. When you do it while shopping down in Mexico they will typically give you a lower exchange rate plus they won't have enough change in dollars or pesos so you end up getting shorted twice.
For security, we opened a separate account with our bank and only keep as much money in it as we need to for our trip. The only debit card we take with us is for this separate account that is not attached to our regular savings and checking. We have also set up the travel credit card that we use to alert us any time a charge is made.
Great video! Last cruise I removed my travel cup at the last minute, but realized I wish I had it. My little Hurley cup went through the Panama Canal so I don’t think I’ll lose it❤😂
I like bringing my own stuff. So what I did for my first cruise was to get the little silicone salad dressing container from the Dollar Tree. It worked great for the thick face cream but not for the thin face wash. I will try it again with a face wash of thicker consistency.
We packed some snacks for our kids on the cruise because they like certain things. One kid really likes Pringles and another likes pretzels. Those snacks are really pricey on board. On our Carnivval cruise, I saw plenty of "food" but not a lot of "snacks."
Having a first aid kit and OTC meds will save hundreds or even thousands of dollars for simple medical situations such as cuts, scrapes, blisters, tummy upset, etc. If you go to the medical room on a ship, YOU pay the bill immediately. They do not take insurance. Get all the paperwork and try to get your health or travel insurance to reimburse you when you get home. Most cruisers are shocked at the cost - to their credit card!!!
Pack your toiletry horizontal instead of vertical; you can fit more. Trust me. Pack solids instead of liquids. You can find nowadays almost everything solid (shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, sunblock, etc) Don't bring the whole thing if you don't have to, cut it in half. They last a looooong time and don't have to worry about the "3.4 oz liquid rule".
I pack water additives..Ice tea mixes and use them in your water bottle. You may also want a few clips to hang wet bathing suits in the shower to dry. I also have lanyards for my cruise card so I don't lose it.
Careful with those clear case lanyards in the water. Waves were ROUGH in Hawaii & so many almost lost their goods as they were being tumbled around by the water. Spend the $ to protect your valuables, friends!!
If there’s no self-serve laundry available, we will do this sometimes. I prefer to wash in the washing machine but if it’s smaller items, like underwear, bras, and socks, we will do it on occasion.
Great tips, couple of things to consider. Plastic water bottles are not good on cruise ships anymore, so refillable only. Also cash is good to pay some vendors for food , clothes or art. They operate on tight margins and are happy for cash sales.
You don't need to save space in your luggage, fir sodas.. thats taking up wayyyy toooo mych space. Who would do that. But your self a bungy cord. Put your sodas on top your case. And bungy it on top !!! HELLO !!!

Love this!
Wonderful idea!! Thanks!!
Survival food for embarkation morning and debarkation afternoon before your flight is an underrated packing essential.
That's true!!! Those are busy days!
Bring a few ziploc bags and snag some stuff from the buffet

What a wonderful idea!! I’m headed on one this Saturday and I’ll be sure to do that this time!
I am glad to hear someone else does this.
Just went on my first cruise and I left my girl a bottle of wine, collapsible hamper, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
I like this tip! 😍

Thanks, Laurie! LOVED your latest river cruise video too my friend!
I love packing cubes.
Me too!
My favorites to take on cruise ships: activated charcoal, enema bag, flavored drink mix, usb charging dock, water shoes, hats, Bluetooth speaker, cash
Playing cards
My husband’s prescription eye glasses lost a screw. We now carry a small repair kit
GOOD ONE!
I am making a note for that.
We do that also! We also bring a small sewing kit.
For cash I would go to the casino because it charges to your room then you just cash out from the slot machine. It worked great and saved money from the ATM.

I like my Brita water bottle. It makes me feel better about the quality of water im drinking and helps it taste better.

Wine opener for opening wine😊
Yes , I had to go to the bar for them to open my bottle 🍾
You r right about extra light folding bag, I had to buy one on the cruise paid too much .

Can you buy snacks at the store and go thru security? We snacks at the airport is expensive.
Usually YES! As long as they are not liquid.
What are your thoughts on hand washing some laundry items in the cabin bathroom? Thanks :-)

Pack feminine hygiene products! They are ridiculously expensive on the ship and hard to find in port sometimes.
EXCELLENT tip!
We cruised twice last year on Carnival and they made us empty our cups before exiting the ship for an excursion/port visit.
You don't need to save space in your luggage, fir sodas.. thats taking up wayyyy toooo mych space. Who would do that. But your self a bungy cord. Put your sodas on top your case. And bungy it on top !!! HELLO !!!
Just get on your home scales holding your suitcase.
How much soda are you typically allowed to bring on board?
According to Royal Caribbean, 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom. Other cruise lines may differ.
Well I’ve heard many stories about people bringing their case of soda & they still confiscate them from you
You only use pashmina for shawls made of a specual kind of wool, not for shawls in general.
Can I bring my playstation4 on board?
