      In the Studio with Michele Webber that’s funny!! I probably need to do that! The struggle is getting real here too! I counted yesterday as a win as I was able to score some toilet paper at the store!! The upside is that with my clients canceling their appointments I have stayed home and painted a lot!

    Oh wow at the various techniques, especially scratching the paper before putting down the colors. Definitely need to find my craft knife & add it to my painting box. I also need to remember to do a background wash first before doing the animals. I have guilty of doing that backwards😬. No wonder my painting are a mess. Thanks for breaking down the various techniques for doing fur. Got to do another fur painting soon.

    A few things:
    1) What’s the purpose of scratching the paper when you’re doing dry brushing over the top? It covered up all the little lines. Also - in the first image, your scratches looked darker than the surrounding area, but on the second sheet of paper, there were lighter areas streaked throughout the painted area. How is that?
    2) Love your nails!
    3) Celine Dion is a goddess.

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  2 роки тому +2

      It's an old video, but I will try to answer. 1. The scratches just add to the overall texture of there being multiple lines, they do make a difference in real life even though they may not show on camera. Light areas may be white gouache, but more likely there's a thing that happens sometimes with the knife and even with a watercolor pencil where the point actually moves the paint out of the way, leaving a light area. 2. Thank you. 3. Celine is fab but I would rather listen to metal ;-)

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Curled hair tends to sit in clumps, you don't need to do it all over, just an impression of texture with some curls at the edges and around the face, neck perhaps.

    I'm working on a kitten right now ---- maybe I'll try and incorporate this technique (I wanted it to look loose but sadly, I haven't achieved it). I think I'll use a cut-up store card for making the scratch/fur marks - don't trust myself with the knife.

    Hi Michele. I found this video very informative so I will be trying these techniques of yours. Michelle the paints at the beginning of the video looked so juicy and wet, ( which paints are they). (Do you wet your paints and leave them for a time to let the water soften the paints). 🐶

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  4 роки тому

      Sometimes I do pre-wet but I didn't this time. They aren't one brand, I have lots. About two thirds are Talens Rembrandt, but there may also be some Daniel Smith, Winsor and Newton, SAA and White Knights ☺️ I am glad you liked the video!

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  3 роки тому

      Not a curly dog but portraits yes. The hair tends to sit in clumps as it were, so it helps to do one large area at a time.

  • @fionabromby4546
    @fionabromby4546 2 роки тому

    With utmost respect white watercolour and white gouache are not the same. White will not show up as the colour of the ground will show through. Gouache is bound with heavy gum and is very opaque. So will paint as individual hairs. By the way hair in fur is pretty irregular not precise

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  2 роки тому

      White watercolor is generally Zinc white, White Gouache is usually Titanium white and is more opaque as you say. But some manufacturers sell Titanium as watercolor so the lines are definitely blurred.

    Hello. First. Thank you for the "fur"How To.
    I am a bit confused tho on why the bashing of Celine Dion. If you don't like her that's fine but why use your video to make Celine fans feel uncomfortable? My heart literally hurt and I had to replay 3 times just so I was clear on what I heard.. It was really unthoughtful and insensitive and I stopped watching your video after confirming thst I did hear what I thought you said.
    I did get a couple tips from your video though and I am sure the rest of the video is very informative on watercolor fur. I just don't want to be slapped in the face again by something else said off subject..
    Hate is a waste of time and effort.

      Dislike is not hate. We are free to dislike music, this video is several years old. I like Rammstein, you are free to dislike them and say so publicly, it doesn't matter. I teach art, nothing else.

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  3 роки тому +1

      I am aware I pronounce it incorrectly. Unfortunately I grew up in London, there's no French word we can't kill, just listen to us pronounce the S in Paris so it rhymes with Harris :-)

    • @ShanaSephora
      @ShanaSephora 3 роки тому

      @@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I grew up in London also, so I am still a little confused to what you are trying to say 🙈 the English language pronounces it still as gouache. We don’t kill the French word, we simply pronounce it (any word in any language) we the rules of ours; which is the case for any one using a word from another language.
