I'm retiring next week and will be taking up watercolour painting as my main retirement hobby. This is a much bigger subject than I'd anticipated which only excites me even more - so much to learn, so many ways to experience triumph and disaster! Can't wait to paint my first "proper" painting, but will start very slowly for now, lots of studies, build my confidence and experience - and keep your wonderful videos and generous advice close to hand at all times. I'm a total novice but your videos are immensely helpful to me - thank you, and thank you again😊 If you're ever giving a workshop in Yorkshire, please let me know.
I would not consider lifting with tissue a mistake. It makes beautiful clouds. Used properly, of course. Blotting randomly over paint layer is a case of a beginner or a child probably.
Gold Coast in Australia during the pandemic. Our blessing and silver lining is the sky at present. The prettiest sky blue you will ever see. Am experimenting with colours to capture our sky. Thank you for your tips Michele🙏🏻💖💖
Sounds a good place to be. I come originally from London, and have always missed it, but currently I think I am much better off out in the countryside!
Ah the sky in Australia is awesome. Skies that until recently have been covered in smoke haze. Now it's just overcast with major rain. Thanks for all the awesome tips as usual Michelle. Much appreciated.
Thank you, Michele, for suggesting a touch of pink added to the cooler blues. I never thought of doing that, but it will solve a delimma I am currently having. I tested both Cerulean and Pthalo and they looked too cool for the floral I'm painting. Adding some of the pink I'm using in the flowers should do it. Your videos are always so helpful. I appreciate the time and effort you put into doing them for us.
Multi colour skies with clouds please, sunsets, stormy, white fluffy clouds, rain clouds would be great. Thank you for all your advice and for demonstrating these great tips and techniques.
In the Studio with Michele Webber Wonderful, I’m so unsure about these techniques, what to do and at what point. I’ve been painting for 18 months and more recently in water colours following Anna Mason technique but I really want to spread my wings a bit now. I look forward to seeing how you do multi colour skies especially sunsets 😊
In the Studio with Michele Webber Yes she is an excellent tutor and I have learnt so much in the school, it’s very specific though, detail on hot press which I love but want to experiment more 😊 too much time on my hands now I’ve retired 😂
@@juliedavies3481 A lot of botanical artists use hot press. You get precision but it's not an easy way to work, as the paint is far more likely to puddle if you are inexperienced 😏
As a covid incarcerated absolute beginner of water colour painting, I would love to know how to paint a wild stormy sky and a dark moonlit sky. I have been binging on land and sea scape utube tutorials. Thank you for all the lovely tutorials and words of wisdom.
Love all your tips! As Sassy Cat, I am also in Australia. Now the rains have come and we should see some magnificent skies and landscapes. The tress that weren‘t burnt to a crisp are now starting to shoot again.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I remember back in the day when I lived in England my skin would become so pale by May that all my veins would show through making me look rather ultramarine bluish all over lol!
Thanks Michele for sharing your talent again, the sky is where I've struggled with many times. Enjoyed this video as always which I can get info to help everytime. Greatly appreciated stay safe.
Oh I love love love your videos. So interesting and informative. Your voice is so southing enven when your speeding up the pace at time, it’s conducive to learning. Great tips. Now going stretch watercolour paper.
I will definitely be experimenting with a big sky study very soon. Although I use holbein almost exclusively, I did order the RT Opera Rose you spoke of for mixing. Pthalo , cerelean, and Prussian blue will be on my list as well. I saw your great video on mixing green and will swatch those as soon as I can. Holbein has a really beautiful line of greens also and if you or your students have never tried it, the holbein quinacridone gold is like having 4 or more different colors in one depending on the water added. Take care and thank you! You don't look at all like a corpse that was just dug up, you are very pretty English Rose 🌹
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber you don't need to, what you have is top notch. They just happen to be what I went with instead of monkeying around with a bunch of beginners sets
A stormy type of sky tutorial interests me here in Seattle. 😉 Seems like lately its just been day after day of gray then more gray followed by even more gray. Ugh
Michele is like having a Michelangelo as a Tutor, lots of experience and tips, and we have been told how NOT to do it. Tough love. We cannot secretly cheat ,Michele just knows.
Ha, I have just been blotting my clouds with kitchen roll, thought I had discovered an easy way to do it, oh well, have to scrap that then. Onwards and upwards.
I'd love to learn how to paint stormy clouds with a bit of sun rays coming through. I try, but the results look more like an apocalyptic meteor shower.
thank you Michele , that was fantastic...Ive been making the mistake of wetting the paper too much. Your tips are SO helpful.
So glad!

Good luck with your retirement! Exciting times :-)
Excellent sky tips. I like your reasoning for painting complex skies in layers. I promise not to dab my skies with paper towels, you've convinced me!
Dark stormy moody skies would definitely float my boat.
Stormy skies added to video to do list!
I have made all 10 mistakes painting skies and probably more, video so helpful thanks Michelle.
I am impressed by your comprehensive coverage of mistakes :-) Seriously though I am glad you found this helpful!

Thanks, that is good news, we are sick of rain in the UK everything is flooded, it's crazy that you needed it and we had too much :-/
Really useful thanks. Big brush a good tip.
Thanks!
Great video! Especially the scary part about the paint pools sneaking in under the tape when you're not looking, and ruining your painting! 😄😂💕
Glad you enjoyed it, scary paint lol
Another brilliant video thank you x

Excellent tips. Stormy skies are my fav.
Thank you 🙏

Very useful, thanks
