I am struggling to find my own "style". After 22 years in the military, I follow instructions well. Perfect for tutorials! I had a great result from one of your classes and hung it in my living room. I took it down after friends and family gushed over it. "Why?" they asked. My reply, "This is me following instructions from an exceptional teacher, so it's me copying her work and style." I have ventured into flowers, buildings, animals, & even bugs. My skills are improving, but I still feel like I'm copying another artists style. LOL, I just felt like grumbling a tad for the ALGORITHM!🙂 Thankyou for be YOU!💖
Put the painting back up I would say, it's a joint effort, you couldn't have done it if you didn't have any skill, I didn't reach through the screen and paint it for you :-)
Absolute beginner here, and I found your free rose tutorial absolutely fabbydoo. Great tips on how to achieve those light and dark areas properly and very well taught. Thank you!
Wow Michele! I have only just discovered you. Thank you so much for your generous sharing of so many techniques. I'm in my 70's and have only been watercolour painting for a couple of years, although I had art as a main subject at teacher training college in the dark ages! I too am from southern England but have lived in Oslo for almost 50 years. So much to learn and so little time!!! Best wishes, Sue :-)
Michele greatly appreciated your brilliant video explaining 20 tips to improve faster, possibly won't make me fast improvement but it will stop me making early on mistakes, thankyou.
I'll be using lots of these tips in my art and junk journals....I painted a rose yesterday and will be using watercolour in my February Journal Spread. Great tips!!! Joie 🌿❣️
Wonderfully informative and so well organized, and I now have solutions for some of my problems. I just discovered you today and am already a fan! Thank you so much for all of your time and effort. Greetings from St. Louis, USA!
Hi! I just you found your channel and I really enjoy your content. I just started a few weeks ago painting and your content is really helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I use both sides of a cold press paper to paint on for practice. I use only 3-4 colors per painting and I try to determine a color scheme prior to painting.
Thx af in 4 a fab video again with great tips. A question, isn't it an idea to use a pen that erases when you warm it up , just a heatgun on it and... No more lines? Not a brilliant udea? 😂🤭😉, or am i missing something...
I watch UA-cam on my firestick. It doesn't give me the option to "like" a video. I hope there are some statistics to show that I am enjoying many of your videos. I have subscribed so that is done.
I do too, but when I go on my computer, I go into my history, and like the ones that I have watched. It takes a little time, but, I figure, as much as Michele gives of herself, I can take ten or twenty minutes a week to get caught up.
Was it you Michele, who ironed a finished rumbled watercolor painting ? I believe I saw you use a towel and a very low iron to press out the waviness. So my problem is that I had a huge piece of watercolor paper that I taped down, sprayed, and let dry overnight. I did not mop up the excess water puddles. Needless to say, its got hills and dales. Since there is no paint on it, I’m going to try to iron it. I may even lightly spray it first (mist only…….no floods). Otherwise it will be unusable. Should work.
'fraid the link just 'added me to the audience', which is great, but no 'download' link available? Thanks for your care though, as usual I needed to revisit a lot of the tips, mostly because I'm absent-minded! Diolch yn fawr, Den
Thanks Michele. Great video tips here. Top stuff. I love your channel. Where abouts in the UK are you? I'm holding a Workshop over there in Norfolk this coming October. :)
Hey Tony, thanks for subscribing, assumed you were American until I clicked on your videos! I am on the Suffolk/Essex Border, Suffolk is next to Norfolk, but it's still quite a distance as I am about 200 yards from being in Essex :-)
Thank you 🙏 unfortunately Amazon links pay so little and break so often that I no longer include them in recent videos. Hopefully you can find any products still available via Google
Marion, the PDF link will come to you via email. If you don't get it just email me art@michelewebber.com. Nothing bad will happen. You go on my email list but if you don't like the emails just click unsubscribe.
Hi Donna, it's a downloadable PDF, not a video. If you click the link in the comments and put your email address in, you get mailed a link to download it. If you still have problems let me know and I will check it's all working correctly 🙂
I guess I am asking for a printable list of the 10 mistakes. I listened to the video, it was most informative, so it would be nice to have a list. I can rewatch and make my own list, I suppose. Thank you.
Great Channel...I subscribed...listened to a few...now I feel...kinda "not that great" Seems like you like to kinda...be kinda rough with your beginners...thanks anyways...was looking for something more calming and less of a military approach, like I seem to see here...best wishes..Janis
Hi Janis, sorry you feel that way. I hope I am never unkind, and opinions differ on art. I am just sharing my experience of years of teaching beginners. I am probably not the most calming person, my hobbies include martial arts 🙂
kookatsoonjan good as Good advice is rough with beginners? If you are too sensitive to listen to advice about watercolour tips, you must be in a terrible state in the real world!
Good grief! She's not sitting down for tea and scones with you! It's a 20 min time slot! Not sure about anyone else, but I just want the information in the most succinct way possible! No waffle! Excellent job Michele!
Do share your own watercolor tips below to help your fellow artists ☺️

Thumbs up on your advise for beginners to avoid Ultramarine. It's in every beginners kit. Which is confusing. Great starter video.
It's a great colour -but it needs a little experience I find. Keep it for later :-)

I was told to use 2 water pots. One for the warm colours and the other for cool colours.
That's a good idea too :-)
So many good tips in just one video! 🥰

Great ideas Deborah, a limited colour palette is a great exercise!
Love your vids Michele thanks so much from New Zealand
You are very welcome, thank you for watching!
Thank you! I always wondered why Ultramarine was recommended yet so granular.
It's a great colour and useful for many things, I might do a video on it soon. It's just not great for skies :-)

I don't know, I use them for sewing... I wonder if it would affect the paint, perhaps I will experiment!
Sorry this is off-topic but I LOVE YOUR HAIR!

I buy Styrofoam plates to use for pallets.
I do use lots of scrap watercolour paper....for checking colours
Well done, it's a good thing to do!

The SAA paper is listed as unavailable on Amazon. Do you have another suggestion for practice paper?
Bockingford is very good.
The link to the masking fluid and ruling brush is no longer a valid link. No big surprise to me, but I thought you may want to update the link.!
Thank you 🙏 unfortunately Amazon links pay so little and break so often that I no longer include them in recent videos. Hopefully you can find any products still available via Google
Hi thanks
You're welcome!
Instead of paper stretching, is watercolor canvas or board better
Depends what suits you I guess, I have always enjoyed painting on paper, I will even paint acrylics on paper!
Oh...masking fluid is liquid rubber...wow...that's knowledge
So glad you found the video useful :-)
How do I get on your FB page?
The group Nancy. It's In the studio with michele webber. Just click join.
The free PDF did not download. I'm very sorry that I entered my email address.

Can I just get a list of your 10 mistakes?
Not sure what you mean Nancy. I have a 10 mistakes drawing video, and some watercolor mistakes videos if you search for them :-)
I guess I am asking for a printable list of the 10 mistakes. I listened to the video, it was most informative, so it would be nice to have a list. I can rewatch and make my own list, I suppose. Thank you.
Tip number 21; if you speak a little more slowly, your presentation will be received much easier. It's not a race.
But if it was a race, I win right?
I prefer her current speed. She gets to the point.
A bit rude
She is great.
