Cyberattack blocking insurance payments across country, including Oregon

- For nearly a month, providers who use a third party called Change Healthcare haven't been able to collect insurance payments. The company pays out claims to doctors' offices and other service providers. Those claims make up a large portion of payments for many providers. Change Healthcare works with some of the biggest healthcare companies in the Portland metro area, such as Providence and Kaiser Permanente, a medical worker said.

@@joecamel4006 define modernity. I mean, I appreciate indoor plumbing and not having to light my home with oil lamps. I also like getting reimbursed for claims in the same month as the charge.
I get it. A lot of 'progress' is just modernizing things that don't need to be simply because they can. But to blanketly reject everything modern is, well, dumb.
@@dougsholly9323 It worked fine for me and got the job done without many headaches. The Internet has become dangerous with so many scams and hackers out to take our money and with everything about a single person now available online somewhere to look at and conveniently set up to be attacked at the whim of criminals. Plus I get tired of having to keep that cellphone charged all the time and when the power goes out, I'm stuck.

There’s a risk with everything. This could be potentially mitigated or avoided all together by having a secured system and doing your due diligence.
A company of this size and importance should have had better cyber security. you get what you pay for.

@@dougsholly9323I don't think there is much time for thoughts in the news industry theses days as the load of work on a reporter is so much these days. Not sure in this case for this station; though these days a lot of them are shooting their own shot and editing the story themself so there is no second person looking at it for a lot of cases these days. Just seen (elsewhere) a story repeating a press release line saying ~2 AM this past Sunday when there was a time change for daylight savings time so there was no 2 AM as it jumps to 3 AM (maybe for a second though). As this reply digresses between keeping ST and DT I would prefer standard time to be permanent and not what was just switched to (in most of the U.S.A.).

Who did this must be someone tire for being paid the high monthly payment on the health insurance around the county, and not receiving the benefits for those quote and even not proper service. And the immigration across the border, receiving better benefits the legal people under this administration.
