Heres how I've heard the story told multiple times from BOTH Eric and Russo...
The entire writers room decides Book should be champion..
Vince wants Book to lose to Kanyon, and Jeff to beat Hogan clean mid show, and then Jarret faces Book in the Main looking stronger than ever and Book gets the surprise underdog title win.
Hulk says losing clean in a title match on ppv doesn't work for me Brother.
Eric and Vince argue, Brad Seigle steps in and says do what Eric and Hulk want to do.. so they sit down and try to work out how to accomplish both hulk not losing and Booker getting the surprise title win to close.
The agreed upon angle is Jarrett lays down for hulk, they blur the lines, hulk and Eric get pissed and leave, Vince cuts a promo and Book v Jarrett happens, Book wins, then Hulk comes back and wins a unification match at Halloween Havoc.
Everything goes down as planned except for, Hulk and Eric say they didn't know Russo was gonna bury Hulk.. and Russo says he was always supposed to cut into them but didn't have the promo written out and admittedly got caught up in the emotions cause he was legit pissed they didn't do what he originally wanted and it had to be a whole back n forth.
Hulk and Eric land in Miami to messages from the boys that Russo cut a scathing promo asking if it's a shoot.. then hulk see people on the Internet and dirt sheets shitting on him and praising Russo, thinking the whole angle was real, now hulks starting to think, wait a minute did I just get fucked here?
Vince claims Brad Seigle called the next day and asked what was going on, Vince tells Brad it's all part of an Angle, I'm supposed to call Hulk tonight to start talking about what's next, and Brad allegedly says, well actually don't call Hulk just yet cause we can't afford any extra dates.. and Vince doesn't call, and Hulk gets even more pissed and files the lawsuit..
Years later neither Vince nor Eric actually listen to an unedited clip of the other telling the story to hear they are telling the same story and thus keep saying the other is lying.. UNTIL 2 days ago when for some reason for the first time ever Eric changes his story And Booker wasn't supposed to have a match against Jarrett.. even tho, in the same episode he acknowledges that there was supposed to be a unification at Havoc, and Hulks match was middle of the card, and they had both world titles on hand that night for the second title match after hulk left.. I think Eric confused himself and misspoke because there's multiple videos of him saying Book would win the second title match leading to a unification at Havoc
How long were HHH promos? How long were the rocks segments? The highest rated segments on tv. How long does Roman Reigns wrestle? How long does Brock wrestle on tv? How long are their promos? So it’s a model wwe still uses even under HHH. No one watches wrestling for wrestling something Russo has been saying since the 90s. Some Wrestlers have a hard time with that. Booker can disagree all he wants. No one watched raw to see Vince McMahon wrestle. They watched to see stone cold point a gun at his head. No one watched sable to see her wrestle and she has the highest rated segments on raw. And if Russo was writing for himself then god bless him because if cornette has his way we’d have had the patriot as the face of raw instead of degeneration x and sable
Book has a passion for wrestler while the three of them are business men that happen to be involved in wrestling.
