This is how you study more in the same time

Highlighting, summarizing, and, of course, cramming: this is how you learn the best for your test... right? Educational psychologist Gino Camp (Open University) explains in this video that these are ineffective learning methods. We are actually fooling ourselves: we think we understand the material because we recognize it, but as soon as we close the book, it seems the information evaporates from our memory. Spaced studying, testing yourself, and using flashcards are good learning methods to pass your exams. Why? They force you to actively retrieve the material from your memory.

Ik heb autisme, hierdoor ken ik een voordeel ten opzichte van Neurotypische studenten: mijn geheugen vergeet informatie zelden (bijna fotografisch), maar daardoor perfectioneer ik tot het kleinste detail wat vaak op de toets tijdverspilling blijkt te zien die ik beter in hoofdstuk 2 had kunnen steken ipv hoofdstuk 1. Daarnaast heb ik denk ik ook ongediagnosticeerde dyslexie, wat zorgt voor het positieve effect van ruimtelijke en creatieve verbeelding en dus veel beelddenken maar een nadeel tov woordjes stampen begrippen leren, want ik kan niet in woorden denken. Dat is extreem lastig.
