Dave, I have run into the same issues with dendrobiums. So many sources say to not water or fertilize the nobile types. Local growers just cut back on the fertilizer. Palm Harbor checking in and also use my pool lanai for most of my weeds.

Hey Dave, you are quickly becoming my favorite orchid youtuber. You are very lucky to have so much space and such a good climate. I hope I wasn't ever too harsh with any of my comments, I don't know what others have said but all I ever wanted to point out was that others are often wrong which I know I mentioned, it probably didn't come out right. and not to trust the first thing you hear but that is what I like about your approach which susprises me a lot as a religious guy trusting one book, one belief. But I do not want to start a fight as you said. Christmas time is the time of giving and friendship. Anyway I think we all have to constantly figure out what works best for us. I couldn't do mounted cause I can't water that often and if I go on holiday I don't have a plant sitter to water them. I'm sure the cattleya's will do fine, they generally prefer mounted, it just sets them back temporarily but so does repotting which I have to do too because the media they come with would not work for my environment either. Hope the christmas time is not too stressful. All the best.
Hi Dave😄🙌Oh, those hard cand dendrobiums 'Are' really cold sensitive, that's why I hardly ever see them for sale here in Japan. My dendrobium nobiles are enjoying this cold weather. It's been very Sunny and at night the temperatures go down to about 28.4°C fahrenheit. They don't mind one bit and they are even holding onto their leaves😳Some have buds and yes, I don't water them for 4 months unless there is the unexpected rain which happens very rarely and at that time usually the temperature will go up for a day, then I will follow and give them some water. The tip on cattleyas was something I didn't know. I do know that repotting phalaenopsis can set back flowering if you pull out all the medium and repot it bare-rooted.
Hi Dave, this is Bobbie from Port Charlotte FL. I hope you or one of your views can help me. I bought a catasetum in full bloom this past Oct. When done blooming I cut its spikes and I have continued to water as normal. This plant has not gone into dormancy. It still has all of its leaves and now has a new growth. Should I keep watering or should I stop watering?
Hi I’m new on your channel and I love it. If you don’t mind can you let me know why Renanthera orchids leaves are all turning yellow? I bought that plant about 3 weeks ago. Thank you.
I have a Terete (skinny Vanda you showed), and she's been growing full sun 🌞 in the Caribbean. Some roots are attached to a wall behind it. Not even the roots are burnt. Teretes are incredible orchids. Full sun 24/7, all year long.
I became a fan of using lava rock after killing off dendrobiums & phals in bark with too much water with micro fibre wicks. Now I wait 2-3 days after the wick is dry before flushing my orchids & they're growing happily.

Really enjoy your videos! I’m in south Florida and you have inspired me to get back into orchids again.
The yellow Cattleya is very likely Rlc. Goldenzelle 'Lemon Chiffon'. It's a gorgeous plant! Enjoy all the information from your videos.
Yes! That’s it! Thank you!
Love this…I’m always learning 🇯🇲
Merry Christmas 🎄 and thank you for sharing .Happy growing 😊

Most of my dendrobiums are mounted and they love it, and I live in Sarasota like you❤

No problem Tom! Keep the comments coming. I like the critiques.
I found that if you wait and mount the Cattleya when the new roots start to grow you will experience a less setback.

@@TheDrmsosa I, too, have a “Terete” but it does not seem to want to bloom😫

Nobiles are really confusing to me. Trying the rest in TX.
My nobile dendrobium's are budding OMG😊😊😊
I have killed many orchids in the twenty years I have been growing them. I have saved the tags. I call them my Collection of Sadness. 🤷🏻♀️
