When you buy a Chinese scooter, you are paying for the Chinese manufacturers assembly, and if a local dealer is used, their care in final assembly and inspection. Almost all of the parts come from the same Chinese factories. What we think of as manufacturers are assembly plants. It does make a difference because their are good and bad ones. I owned a shop and had a dealer license selling and maintaining this these types of scooters. Mainly I sold Peace scooters (very similar to Taotao) and BMS. BMS were very good out of the box, and I like to think with the care we used, our peace scooters were very good after going though our Pre Delivery Inspection. My experience is from 10 years ago. I am only familiar with Icebear and Taotao of the scooters on the list. I bought 6 Icebear scooters to give them a try. I said then, never again. There were safety issues with all six. Three of them I was able to correct the problem and sold at a normal retail price. The other three were sold below cost as parts. These groups of three were 2 two different models. With proper assembly and PDI, I don"t have a problem with the Taotao. Just remember that a lot of dealers just throw them together in 45 mins and put them on the floor to sell. There is more to it than that. I was a warranty repair shop for BMS. With just assembly and no PDI, you would have the best chance with the BMS. I can't remember any problems with BMS out of the box. Although I did not sell Taotao, I did do service on quite a few. The shop in my town that sold them just assembled them and sold them from what I could tell (air cleaner was dry, same shitty Torch plugs, and probably the same unknown quality oil from the factory). Even so, I think the Taotao was a good buy. So because I would never buy an Icebear, and the only other scooter I know anything about on the list, I would get a Taotao if these were my choices. Buying from this list would not of course be my first choice, but you will save money.

If what you said about the top speeds of these scooters is true , and still put even one to them in the top 25, much less the top 5, you just don't know very much about scooters. It is also very questionable that four of the five are totally unknown brands. Basically these are cheap Chinese junk. Don't get me wrong there are very decent Chinese made scooters, it is just these underpowered little pieces of junk are not among them. I have owned two completely different 49cc scooters, and ridden half a dozen others. Not one of them had a top speed under 38 miles per hour. Both of mine could just barely go 40 on flat ground with a 200 pound rider. For most town commuting it is not anywhere near as safe if you cannot keep up with traffic. Basically a scooter that can only do 30 miles per hour is a real death trap, for commuting. These would not be safe to take very far out of your neighborhood. That lone would put them at the bottom of the list of 49cc scooters.

Here in Canada , we can't buy these makes of scooters anymore . Environmental laws I presume .

4:46 Battery gauge?! LOL
Hi:) would anyone know if you have to have a drivers license for 50cc scooter i live in washington state'' any help on information would be apperciatted.. ty:)
Yes you must have a driver license
In Washington state...Or any other
state....50cc and smaller need regular drive license. Above 50cc
Need motorcycle endorsement.
Yep, class c or basic driver permit.
@@mywheelestateandadrone4454 Not true to say any other state. Most if not all states in southeast do not require driver license of any kind for 50cc and below.
This video should be called top 5 worst scooters ever sold
I got 2 150s. A VIP and Benelli Andretti.
Where do people ride these little 50cc scooters? I can't imagine riding anything that can't do over 30 mph on an actual road.
Legit just 16 year olds in the UK cause we can't ride cars or any scooter over 50cc.

hello, if you want a good quality bike, don’t buy anything out of this list, if you want a good quality moped 50cc, you can find an used aprilla, yamaha, paggio and etc. for not more than 700 dollars

This review sounds like he’s promoting certain scooters with all the descriptions he does sound like he’s reading the owners manual or advertisement manual not doing the actual review would not recommend this video
Why the hell didn't you put the prices??!!!
The ice bear
How long have you had it, and how much is it, is it really worth it
Aprilia sr 50 or Peugout Speedfight
I hear absolutely nothing good from dealers and drivers about Icebear and Taotao scooters. The phrases "high maintenance" and "good for a rider who likes to work on scooters" come up far too often.
Umm...no..hard to get parts for, don't last, I like scooters but these have wasted peoples money and gave them a bad experience. Even Kymco who makes a good scooter has terrible support. Stick with name brands if you want it to last and be able to fix it when it breaks.
I have a Kymco & parts are no where available in the US.. I always have to order from overseas. Takes about 3 weeks to receive anything. Lol..
@@rickortiz654 exactly what I'm talking about. I even emailed their US headquarters and got no response.
@@TepcoCycleRepair thats terrible! very concerning. honda, yamaha, and vepsa all day long
@@irnomo9784 Just an update because I like to be fair. A rep did call me back from Kymco and walked me through their site and put his hands on the part I needed (LCD display) to be sure it was available before I ordered it from my local dealer. He was very helpful.
you can get parts easy there just as good as name brands
This is just an advertisement
I don’t trust boom sunny etc I trust taotao Honda Yamaha and suzuki
Kymco is a quality scooter out of Taiwan. Kawasaki announced in 2013 that their new J300 scooter is manufactured in partnership with Kymco. It is based on a Kymco Downtown 300i.
Haha , you trust taotao but not boom etc , same engine and looks like it's the same body as every other chinese cheap Scooters , i have two Baotian classic myself and they are great as long as you adjust the valves every now ens then ! Btw , they all have gy6 engines !!
Ralf Risberg I’ve had two taotao and they were a lot better than the book so
@@ralfrisberg8009 They have a copy of the GY6 engine, not the genuine GY6
@@airgunplanet the genuin gy6 are for Hondas , all the rest have clones of that engine
I wanted to see the Honda Metropolitan.
Are those 5 scooters made in China.?
They are among the worst of the Chinese junk scooters on the market.
So no Ruckus?
No Metropolitan either. Just junk throw-a-ways.
Vitacci Runner 50cc Scooter
ive been telling ppl those high end names were a thing of the past they will be out of biz soon
Does anyone know about Coleman scooter?
Coleman are economy Chinese scooters just like most of the ones mentioned here.
1:15 CANADA IS NOT A STATE !
It will be soon
@@NANA-ug8mg Yeah right
There is no Canada. It's a practical joke by North Dakota.
You put me to sleep. Thank you.
Is there a scooter rated for 400 lbs?
At that weight, you're better off walking
At 400lbs, you are looking at a motorcycle than a scooter. Clients of mine who weigh 250lbs gripe about how They barely get up to 30mph on the flats and how slow they go up moderate sloped hills (on a 50cc scoot). I live in Pittsburgh and the hills and geography here kill 50cc scoots.
maxk880 chillll😂😂
All of them do 30mph do what's the difference
Typhoon 50 the best
Yamaha Zuma the Best.!!!!
Review tube lol, how can this guy be an expert on so much? Oh! Sell your soul!
just get a honda
Yeah screw paying up to 2 grand for a scooter from Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki and before you go yammering on about quality it's about you treat the bike that makes um last
@@perfectcell7995 you will pay more in the long run with cheap scooters. its actually cheaper to get a better unit.
@@irnomo9784 nahh not when I know how to repair the "cheap" stuff myself The "better" unit has to be takin to a dealer that Will charge you out The ass for repairs or maintenance
Matt Muensterman If you can repair in cheap Chinese scooter, then you can definitely repair a Honda or Yamaha. You might have to get the parts from the dealer, but they are easy as hell to work on
@@irnomo9784 not Honda idk about the others but I've tried to work on the metro 1,2&3 the 3 you cant even make them faster and they don't carry part's for the other's and don't get me started on the ruckus
Don't listen to this video. Honda, Yamaha, Genuine. that's all you need to know
Yamaha aerox 4 stroke not on the list?😂
1:12 "and is legal in fifty states including Canada" nibba what
You say Canada is a state?
I think he meant to say that it is legal in the country
Save up for a la Sourire
The best 50cc scooter you can get is the yamaha aerox
Just get a Aerox
JuSt GEt aN AErox ,nobody wants to pay an arm and a leg for a scooter plus fuck having to premix gas Everytime you wanna fill up
And where did the info come from? All I hear is adjectives like "amazing" and "excellent" and "spacious". Give me a break. All of these will be 49cc and automatic and yet they point it out like a benefit.... And 2-stroke is unlikely to be approved in your US state. As SRK Cycles pointed out after ACTUAL test of one of these - don't buy these new, instead buy Japanese used. Get a Honda Metropolitan. The only scooter or moped catching my eye are the ones with US HQ but Chinese mfg and they add more quality and local support - like Bintelli. You will pay more but still cheaper than Honda or Yamaha etc. I don't trust any of the products in this video.
This was an ironic video correct?
