  • I often get asked by bedroom players 'How good do I need to be to play competitively?
    In this video I play a game of demo Superleague against the computer and commentate on what I'm doing, and how in reality, you don't have to move mountains to be competitive and have a good average!
    For pubs and some Superleague, there is no real minimum standard, and social pub leagues are a great place to get match experience. To be competetive in Superleague and local competitions, you must be looking for 20 (60) average at minimum.

    Currently averaging around mid 50s, hoping to have league back on after all this Covid stuff, and threw my best leg (14 darts) last month. Feeling good.

    Your video just appeared on my watch list. Really enjoyed that! Subscribed straight away. From what I can tell we both throw an almost identical average, so this made it even more interesting for me. I used to play counties over 25 years ago but just got back into darts again a couple of years ago....would love to get back in again now the hunger is there!

    Started playing again, started darts last year and now throwing around 40-50 average. Not the best. But I am starting to play better, making higher finishes. First 180 is still waiting tho.

    Where I'm at (West Virginia, USA) we just have one 10 team steel tip league in my region. I envy the way your darting system is set up. You have so much more going on in the steel tip realm. Here soft tip is king. I play that as well but my real love is steel. I was averaging 70.8 per 3 darts after 8 matches when we shut down due to the COVID-19 quarantine. Last year a little better at 72.4. Before that in the mid 60's. I'm curious to know where that would put me in your system.
    Edit: We play 301 double in double out, 501 double out, 1001 double out team game, and Cricket every match. I was averaging 3.5 MPR in Cricket.

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  4 роки тому

      Firstly, cricket here is non existent. I've played league and superleague comps regularly for 10 years, I think I've played cricket in a pub twice as a practice game in that time.
      Anywhere between 60 - 70 is a half decent steel tip superleague average. You'd be one of the better players in my local league with that average as I'd say 25 out of 160 regularly have over 60 average in a social league. Superleague id say 60 avg was the minimum for most Premier league teams. To win regularly you want to be somewhere around 70-75 👍🎯

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  4 роки тому

      Plus there is no real soft tip to speak of. A few people have nexus boards but steel tip is king. There are 2 players I know in my league that play soft tip out of 160

      The averages I posted were for steel tip. My soft tip average would be much higher because the entire bull is worth 50 points and is considerably larger than the steel tip board bull. It's really boring because there is no double out and it's just a bullseye shooting contest. I only play it because my wife and I have lots of friends and fellow lodge members who do.

      If you win all your legs on throw in 21 or less your opponent has to hit an 18 to break you. That's a 27+ average and someone who can do that throughout a match is the top 5% of players in the league. 18-21 is super solid

    Hi beanie beardy. How long did it take you to get to a decent standard? Many Years or a matter of months?. I have been playing since lockdown I never played darts before that as I was to busy on the pool tables. I have spent since march adjusting everything about my grip and have been through 5 different sets of darts now I am back to argos 4.99 for two sets and they are better for me than any tungsten pro or pro style darts I have bought. After the first month I had to re-plaster my wall then second month I would fluctuate between hitting 4/5 doubles in a row on occasions at around the board doubles which is pretty exceptional for the second month and on average I was 1in3 overall on doubles then in the 3rd month I really experimented on grip and nearly a year later I am only finding halve the form I was finding in the second month but my average score has gone up which it needed to. I have only ever hit 180 once but as I play on the 19s that will be why plus the barrel of my darts are wide as cuban cigars so getting three in one bed is quite the roman orgy. I do notice when my darts are bad it's because I am not extending my arm fully but my arm has a mind of its own it's not connected to my brain. I lost my central vision in one eye last year after a detatched retina so keep blaming the bad darts on that but its the peripheral that's probably more important in darts so I can probably rule that out. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder which makes me over think every aspect of life and causes tension in my arm but james wade has similar so I just think I am either crap or don't practice enough. Any tips on grip for me please?

Dont know were im going wrong.i used to be alot better.my arm is thrashing aswel now.maybe its just a case of getting used to it again. Anyway great vid and im subbed,cheers.

      Great that you're back into it! You'll have the bug and want to play non stop! If you can hit scores like that without playing for a while it is just a matter of consistent practice and you'll be back to your best. Your arm will ache if you haven't thrown for a while as it's using muscles in combination repeatatively that haven't worked together in 2 years! Thanks for the sub, hope you enjoy the channel! 👍🎯

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  4 роки тому +1

      I practice the D9s a bit as I often like to leave D18 so it's sensible to practice the breakdowns of that route. Never practice D17, fluke I left it so I just attack it with the first dart, knowing if I come inside into the single I can still checkout with the next 2 on a nice double 👍🎯

    Thank you for this content. I really enjoy watching your videos. In addition to your tips I want to give one tip for yourself. Just because I like the way you present yourself and how positively you show this fantastic sport. This is my opinion....You are moving too much whilst throwing and between the several throws. Watching your video shows that clearly and as if you allow me to say... you will be a much better player instantly as soon as you stand still. Also you allow yourself too much of an emotion when you throw „bad“ darts. Shaking the head or even look down and let this thought come to your mind threatens the quality of your next throw. Why do I say? I am a mental Trainer and Hypnotherapist and love the darts. Darts is more than anything else a mental sport... well you know that. But did you really care about that yet? Maybe you want to look at that a bit closer and probably you want to make a video about that great aspect of our sport. I bet many of your viewers will find that at least interesting. Well, than! Always good darts and keep on doing what you do!

    Super league players at the top hitting 26-29 darts a leg??? That cant be right. I would say 20 - 24. I aim for finishing a game in 30 and that's with missing a finish 4-6 times as well. Best ever was in 20 darts (once) :)

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  3 роки тому

      26-29 average per dart is what I meant. Sorry it wasn't that clear the way I said it. Superleague avg is measure per dart, so just multiply that by 3, and your looking at top superleague players being high 70s and above average 👍🎯
