Using a dart as a practice aid is a great idea, thank you! I've got a bit of a psychological problem in that if the first dart hits the T20 it tends to throw me off with the next 2... I'm going to have a practice like this and see if it helps : ) And wow when it goes dark you can see that cricket bat is really scuffed up!
Great video and concept. Well worth practicing as it’s so important. Regarding my own practice I like to use 6 darts for grouping practice sessions. Throw the 1st one, then try and hit some part of the 1st dart with the other 5. Not easy for a beginner like me but it does work. When you are off form it helps to tighten things up
Just wanted to drop another comment to not only compliment this great video (I’m looking forward to practicing this drill later), but to also let you know that I got two triple-20’s for the first time yesterday! I’m also starting to group my darts more consistently... your previous advice about standing head-on (due to my blindness) has worked out fantastic.. I know I’m no where near good enough to be giving advice to anyone.. but man, if I ever get to talking about darts w/ anyone I’ll be sure to point them your way and tell about what I’ve learned from you so far.
Awesome. Thank you Joseph. Improving darts is about small percentage gains, people think there must be a magic method or darts setup that gets you throwing like a pro. In reality it's experience and practice that helps improve, but hopefully some of these help to quicken that process along! Hope you'll be able to get out soon, join a team / league and then you'll really see your game and averages improve 👍🎯
@@DartsClass Thanks for the wisdom - truly a great reminder. Coming from a family full of NFL special-teamers (punters and a snapper), the concept of focusing on small-percentage gains makes total sense... I'll be sure to approach darts the same way! Appreciate the response and encouragement! (Also, I think the fact that you still preach the principle of incremental growth and hard work says a lot about this channel / yourself. I'm sure I can speak for others when I say that your genuineness is appreciated! God Bless!)
What practice methods do you recommend to improve your grouping? How do you practice your power scoring to increase your chances of 180s?! Let me know!
Hi bud , thanks for another amazing video. I use 15mm ring for grouping and a dart marker like you. It's very good for practice grouping and muscle memory. I do this for an hour twice a week or more if I'm struggled. Thank you.
Still trying foot stance and releasing calmly but no consistency yet champ😢😊. I practice with 9 darts at home but some are 21g, 23g & 3rd set is 24 g so wondering if that's a nono? Not even sure bout thickness of flights yet but using Condors for now
Hi Teresa. I play this one a lot... it helps recreate the reality of needing to hit the bullseye with your last dart, but also helps your scoring on the t20s too... ua-cam.com/video/ULfpp4rDurE/v-deo.html
I tried the pilot dart and hit a 140 first try. Before that I'd only hit a couple of scrappy tons so far today.. definitely a very useful practice technique that I will continue to use, nice one 👍
Great vid! I seldom subscribe any channel for watching the first vid of it, but I subscribed yours after watching this vid and now just subscribed twice with my 2nd acc! And I nearly watched all the videos in this channel within the same day! You really made decent and well explained darts training vids! Keep it up although I know you are a busy father now. Congrats for the new birth baby and wish your family healthy n all the best! Cheers from a darts maniac from Hong Kong..
Thank you for your lovely comment! I really appreciate every sub! Glad you're enjoying the videos. Let me know if there's something you'd like me to cover not already on here! 👍🎯
Depends where you're from. USA and Asia, soft tip is very popular. Europe and rest of the world is pretty much steel tip. If you want to be a professional, it has to be steel tip, but you might find to play causally for fun that the leagues in your area are predominantly soft tip. In the UK its 99% steel tip although with the growth of online darts, the popularity of softip is increasing
Probably less applicable as from the little amount I know about soft tip, the darts will always lie flat at a 90 degree angle. However the principle may remain the same if you 'over stack' the darts by placing one just beneath the treble
My first dart always seems to go a little high, so I aim for the bottom of the treble 20 wire. It seems to work for me. Another tip I was told was if the first dart hits the t20 aim for the flight with your next dart.
What do I need to play darts on the internet against somebody I live in The Boondocks and don't have anybody to play darts with I have a Tavern Style Dart Star Spectrum electronic dart board and I have hard tip boards as well
Look up WDA by Winmau, all you need is a webcam with a microphone and your own setup. They pretty much take care of the rest and it doesn’t cost money.
Haha it seems to be the way of the world on here. I consistently get the one 👎. Could be one person or could be coincidence, but no matter how harmless the subject matter I get one every time. Could be a conspiracy from a rival haha

Haha yeah should hit them out the middle of the bat more often

gave it a weeks tryout and this is incredible.thankyou very much understand markers well now!
Every video of yours I watch you give me new ideas on improving! awesome video yet again :-D

That is a GREAT idea. I’m definitely going to incorporate this into my training res regime. Good job! 👍🎯
Good stuff. I usually try to stick one close rather than hitting one that's already there.
I am definitely trying this. Great video

Cheers Rob. I've not used the rings before so I'd be interested to know how I got on with them. May buy some to try
@@DartsClass yeah mate, is good fun , something different. 👍 I recommend them definitely. 🎯🎯🎯

Nice one! Glad it's working for you!
When you look at marker, you look (aim) on flight or on place where point is stabbed into the board?
Aiming at the barrel / flight 👍
Tks , very interesting . i 'm gone use that right now !

Great practice routine 🎯👍🏻
Hi, great practice.. can I ask you what are the darts you play with?
Thanks for watching! I play with 24g red dragon Robert Thornton darts👍🎯
@@DartsClass very nice barrels :-) thank you!
Are you better off playing with steel darts or soft tips? Does it matter?

Thank you for watching Declan 👍🎯
So what if your first dart is milimeters away from the wire? Do you use it as a marker to get closer or you just reaim for the target?
How would you get to angle your darts with straight barrel 55mm and slim flight's with near the back grip and i grip the point plz
On to the board now to practice!!!
I understand the marker placement, I am just curious why you don't just go for the double with the 1st dart to start with.
Oh you do. Sorry if I wasn't clear about it in the video. Using a marker is always plan B if you miss closely with the first dart 👍🎯

thoughts as to whether this is applicable to soft tip darts at all?
Probably less applicable as from the little amount I know about soft tip, the darts will always lie flat at a 90 degree angle. However the principle may remain the same if you 'over stack' the darts by placing one just beneath the treble
My first dart always seems to go a little high, so I aim for the bottom of the treble 20 wire. It seems to work for me. Another tip I was told was if the first dart hits the t20 aim for the flight with your next dart.
Spot on. Aim at the flight. My first dart I don't aim at the T20 bed, I aim at its top wire
I’ve done that before and actually got my dart point stuck in the flight it was class 😂
I liked your video just for the fact that you like cricket too!
Using a lie is why I love 120 as a finish. My darts land flat, so if I hit the 60, I can put one just below the double to stick my next one on top of.
Yeah if you get that first dart perfect it's a great feeling to work off of it
What do I need to play darts on the internet against somebody I live in The Boondocks and don't have anybody to play darts with I have a Tavern Style Dart Star Spectrum electronic dart board and I have hard tip boards as well

The board is lit up so beautifully in the dark, it kind of offset the poor camera quality for your explanation
Subbed
All your videos are mint and helpful but you always get someone who dislikes them.........how odd
Haha it seems to be the way of the world on here. I consistently get the one 👎. Could be one person or could be coincidence, but no matter how harmless the subject matter I get one every time. Could be a conspiracy from a rival haha
Im 5 feet tall what to learn with my height
Man , mine are in 12's and 5's lol
I got you. Why use a dot or a ring when you can use an extra dart just like playing a game. Great practice tip!
You can't hit a 180 if your first dart doest go in anyway 🤦🏻♂️
You are good at darts but your jibber jabber isn't helpful at all.
