I love the last part between Sarria and Santiago. Those who have walked further can really encourage pilgrims who only have time for the last 100k. It is worth remembering how your first few days felt. That feeling of 'can I do this?' is pretty well.the whole experience for the mass starters at Sarria. My wife and I are loving trekking along with you. I start from SJDPP on 13th April. Ultreia y susseia.
"get it when you can" .. and not when you wish was also a lesson I learned. The mistaken kilometers on the pillars were so frustrating. Thank you for your honesty when you face problems
So did you folks take any rest days? During the busy season the last 112KM ( Sarria to Santiago) become so busy it feels like you are walking in a mall or at a state fair. So many people. Quite a few "bus pilgrims". Don't worry about them. walk your own Camino. The bigger towns like Leon and Burgos are busy but wait to you get to Santiago. Disneyland for Catholics and the faithful. It is fun but a shock after so many solitary moments on the Camino. My wife and I had a few moments on our Camino. She said the Camino was successful because she did not kill me. Pineapple on pizza is a good thing. Your videos are pineapple on pizza.
It was a definite shock today seeing so many people. We did discuss there’s a new vibe after Sarria, and it’s good. Feels like more energy. We didn’t take any rest days. We wouldn’t necessarily change that, but we would try to to plan some shorter days. The past few days we’ve arrived around 1 or 2 and we’ve really enjoyed that
You know what? Look back and pat yourself on the back - you did well! And I also just want to say: On the Camino, 2 miles extra actually means 10 miles extra! That's just how it is 😬.
Y’all getting close, keep doing what you do! Bad days on trips are the best memories because you conquered and overcame and can laugh about it later.
