Job well done ! I'm two years into my mountain cabin in the rocky mountains with off-grid solar as well. I'm 75 years old...It's nice to see young folks making a sustainable lifestyle using sweat equity, dedication and smart planning. Best of luck to you both!!

Man mountain land is expensive. Not to mention the super short growing season. The land over south by alamosa is $5000 for 4 acres. But no beauty of the mountains. I'm just tired if city living.

That was one of the best narrative videos I have ever seen. Kaylee, you did an amazing job! Very cute outfit. Jordan did a great job behind the camera showing every detail. It's so nice that you can use the wood from your surroundings and at the end of the day, you all built everything with your own hands. What an accomplishment.
If you find more downed trees, use the wood to make a goat pile with steps. The reason why they climb on top of their roof is because they need to climb things. Just a thought.

For that rough road of yours, try getting hold of an old grader/tractor tyre. The bigger/heavier the better. Lay it flat, put one of your pieces of offcut square tubes on the inside with a strong U-Bolt through the tyre. You can even add a grate inside and add rocks/gravel inside for additional weight. Then, just drag it behind your truck using a strong chain when you go down to town and then back up again on your way home... In no time your road will be smooth and driveable as the rubber even rips out the small rocks sticking out the ground for a nice smooth finnish...

A good point of reference for those that would like to live like you is a detailed budget and actual expenses. Just in the solar gear and the chain saw milling tools there is over $5,000. I imagen that the materials for the different building structures are probably about another $5,000 so you probably have a good $15,000 invested and that is without the land, taxes, etc.

Yeah that's without building the house lol I'm buying 2 acres, putting a mobile home on it, and having utilities run and even THAT is gunna cost around 55 grand. What I would really love is it channels like this would give some indication for the kind of financial commitment these types of things are. Moving off the grid like this sounds absolutely amazing but what kind of a nest egg/monthly income to you need to make it work, I.E. Survival of day to day plus construction and mantience.

Currently I am building my own Musang King orchard with watering system on 4 acres of land. There got house for tools for my machineries and 2 safety dogs. Solar is my main source for lamp and fencing system.
Glad to see you put some info on this video. There maybe the budget, costing of what you have had in your farm while you displaying them next to you. Esp wind turbine, temp house, solar panels, rain collecting system and so on.. 🙏🙏🙏
Now having abt 150 premium durian varieties and 150 small fruit trees in between durian trees. Love to have full solar system and 3-5 chalet in near future. 😜😜
