What would be cool. Is to put that same bike on the fence next year and just keep the stoke going and of course get the best parts for it. RaceFace showed outstanding support!
SO glad this came up on my page, what a dope video. So sick of Hannah to let you borrow the bike and even more awesome that you returned the favor in a big way!
Just can’t get over the aggressive inside lines . Also hilarious how many tents didn’t have any parts with them, that’s insane to me. Definitely should have everything ready to go/discounts for purchase at sea otter. Sick rippin Brian, awesome how hard you pushed that rig
Yo Öhlins, DVO, SR Suntour and TRP, don't get upstaged by ENVE, FOX, RF, MRP and TRP! Y'all said you'd love to help. Get our girl Hannah something in the mail! 😉
My everyday mountain bike has been a '96 Santa Cruz Heckler with first generation Z1 Bombers (twin Formula disc mount before they went ISO for the following year) and a pair of Magura HS22 rim brakes. I've loved riding it, I still think it's a remarkably modern bike compared to its contemporaries. Don't believe what the spec sheet tells you, the head tube measures in at 66 degrees, and with its coil shocks front and rear, it's so incredibly forgiving for a bike with "only" 100mm of travel. However, the rear shock blew and needs attention, so in the meantime I rebuilt an early 2000's Giant XTC hardtail with Shimano parallelogram V brakes and have had a blast riding that on my local trails too. I comfortably ride anything up to a blue trail and consider that the limit of my abilities, but I still feel like my trusty old Heckler isn't being used to its full potential. There's loads of other old bikes out there (2000's models are particularly cheap) to be picked up cheap and ridden. They cost a few hundred bucks to freshen up with new cables, chain, cassette, brake pads, tyres etc.. and then they're good for another 10-20 years. I think this idea that we should all own a modern top-tier super bike is something that was unspeakable back in the 90's. You asked for a GT Karakoram but your parents gave you the inferior Outpost instead, and you were happy enough to just have a bike that you could learn some skills on before you buckled a few wheels, replaced a few derailleurs, and maybe splashed out on a new pair of handlebars so you could look cooler as you did silly stunts in the car park while you waited for your buddies. Those premium bikes of today should never have become the bikes we're all expected to own, and with the way geometry has gone in the past decade or so, they're also rather unfit for tackling anything but the gnarliest of terrain. We really need to reconsider some of the cheaper, steeper, shorter travel bikes that are so much more versatile and much friendlier on the wallet, and that's where 15-20 year old bikes can be a great way to get started.
When he lowballed the intense tracer and said “come on, it’s an intense dude” it hurt me, been riding an intense but have to wait for a few more months to change bike lol.
Bikes are like trucks. You try to buy a well used version and you rationalize that it should be much cheaper than new..... and sellers simply won't turn them loose for any sort of reasonable price....because they can't replace it for a reasonable price....because everyone is asking too much for what they have.
I've been in and out of mtb for awhile but still have an older mongoose salvo comp I'm hoping to find some energy to get it going. It's mainly memory of mongoose but I'd like to make it nice and get better suspension and pretty much just run the frame.
Hit us up when you’re ready to upgrade those rims, Hannah 🤘🏻
