      @@AdaptYourLife Dr. Weston, if someone IS on a "water pill" for swelling in the ankles, & after 3 months on keto & 2 wks on carnivore, the ankles are still swollen, are you saying you would consider keto to be contraindicated? I understood that keto would cause me to lose water, so at the start, I stopped using my furosemide. (I do supplement w mag & potassium). But the swelling is sti bad again already.

    I went low carb Jan 1 and found that it reduced my arthritic pain (knees) considerably in about four days. I usually only eat two meals a day due to lack of hunger. My plan was to only cut out sugar and flour for one month but I felt so good I’ve continued. I did have a treat for my birthday but got right back on track the next day without any repercussions. Enjoying your videos!

    I did low carb and IF for 4 weeks and stopped all insulin. I have been doing it nearly 9 weeks now. I saw my endo and since I had lost 14 kg and my hba1c was even slightly lower. She said she will see me in 4 months. As long as I keep on doing this, she is not keen to put me back on insulin. I am so happy. I do test every morning and only stopped insulin because I was having lows.

    I have a vest a friend gave me. It’s so cute but I’ve never been able to fit it until now. I wasn’t able to connect it around my belly. Then I was able to eventually zip it but I had to suck in everything. Now I can zip it easy enough. Is it completely loose- no. In a month or 2 from now will it be? Yes.
    The marathon.

    Is this success? For 35 years I took 4 different medications to lower my high blood pressure. Even so, It was never low enough . After being on keto I gradually weaned off all of them. Today after 18 months I take none, and my blood pressure is better than it was on all that stuff. Is that success?

      I think you mean eat "up to" 20 total carbs/day. The 20 total carbs/day is a limit...not a goal. Eat less if you want. Our bodies can make all the carbs we need without eating carbs. Also, don't eat food you don't like or that don't agree with you.

      Try Carnivore for at least 30 days, fast, exercise. Eliminate all sugar and sweeteners. Eliminate fruit. Follow Dr Westmans ‘Page 4’. Reduce dairy intake. Eat to satiety. What (quality fats and protein) and when (how often/frequency) will dictate ultimate success. Dial the carbs right down, no dietary requirements for them. Add salt to taste in beverages and on food. Drink to thirst. No alcohol. No processed refined carbs, no grains. No vegetable oils. Sleep well, manage stress. Turn off blue light at night. Get out into nature and get some sun. Don’t drink your energy/fuel/calories. Single ingredient whole foods where possible, fatty sources of protein. Eat when hungry, don’t eat if not. No snacking.

    It’s ironic that the medical world pushes things as “preventative” that detect, but doesn’t actually ‘prevent’ anything.
    Here is something that actually reverses and prevents chronic issues, and they are unwilling to take the time to investigate it’s efficacy. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    I am very curious about the controversy of a low carb diet among doctors and why it is taboo to recommend or allow a patient to do it. If the Institute of Medicine indicates that there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate then shouldn’t it be considered taboo or dangerous to recommend that 50-65% of one’s diet include a nonessential “nutrient”? It seems absurd that Ancel Keys’ urban myth should outweigh basic physiology.

      Some people, wether they be drs. or civilians, don't like change. Some don't know the difference between Ketosis and Ketoacidosis. Some are more comfortable relying on the same old Big Pharma protocols. For some, the keto news still hasn't filtered down to them.

      You have to realize that most doctors get 1-3 hours of nutrition in medical school and most of what they learn about nutrition is WRONG. Instead they are taught to medicate us and follow folks like the American Heart Association (which is entrenched with big food and big pharm). Many doctors are overweight or obese themselves. Most nutritionists get the same faulty info.

      I think the best electrolyte on the market is LMNT (they make both unflavored and flavored versions that have stevia in them). I don't think Dr. Westman recommends electrolytes, per se. I have heard him talk about using bouillon or broth. A swig of pickle juice or dab of mustard is another remedy I've heard him talk about if you are having leg cramps. But if you have high blood pressure, he doesn't advise you supplement, until you get your blood pressure under control.

    31:30 wait a minute, you can have a high a1c and be healthy? I thought high a1c by definition means pre/diabetes?
    Is it that you could you have a good glucose tolerance test result, yet still register a high a1c?

      @ecwestman 4 роки тому

      See the detailed discussion of this at The Cholesterol Code about Shawn Bakers' A1c. You have to understand what is being measured (glucose on red blood cells). There are well known instances when the A1c does NOT reflect accurately the longterm health risk (for example, red blood cell disorders.)
