- Being in the NICU is a life changing experience for families and not without its own stress, clearly. Mother's who experience low milk supply in the NICU are particularly vulnerable and need loving guidance. What can they do to help themselves? What are they doing that can create a low milk supply? How can we help them?
Thank you for your videos! I am a nurse in the NICU and I will be referring my patients and my coworkers to your videos. Yes...focus on good pumping and hands-on pumping!
Thank YOU so much!!!!!!! I miss being in the NICU and the long relationships you build with our micro-preemie families. 💜
Thank you for the comment about needing to pump every 3 hours even at night. I haven’t had anyone else really say it to me like that. Instead they are just like “make sure you are getting enough sleep and not stressing too much about this” which I feel is a contradictory message. Also I have been told by lactation nurses that it’s okay to sleep for 4 hours between pumps. But my supply is just not increasing. Also, thank you for acknowledging how emotionally taxing it is to pump while your baby is separated from you.
It is so hard to have your baby in the NICU. My first was there. It felt terrible
♥️
Thank you for this video! My baby is in the Nicu and I am going into 3 weeks of trying to get on a good pump schedule. I am working towards pumping 8 times a day
Have you seen this?? ua-cam.com/video/1Czr9VnTI6c/v-deo.html
@@DoneNaturally thank you so much for responding! I will look at the video now ❤️
Hello again! I love your videos, your information and your style. I commented below on how I am an NICU Nurse and would like to refer my patients and coworkers to your videos. I was hoping you might consider doing a video that combines the great information from Establishing your milk supply, building your house of milk along with the information from your video Using your hands, breast milk expression as well as the basic information from this video. Many mothers do not realize the importance of good pumping in the first 2 weeks, they think they can make up for it later. Low supply is often not caught until the critical first 2 weeks are over. The current video we refer to them on hands on pumping is the Stanford med video, and that is seriously outdated! Your demo with your breast model is great!! I thought about making the video myself, but your communication style is so kind and caring, I could never sound like you. Please consider making a targeted video for the pump dependent mother in the NICU, that won't be breastfeeding for weeks because her baby is too ill or premature. Now, more than ever it is so important to help these mom's with their supplies....the formula supply is only going to get worse! Every NICU nurse and NICU mother will thank you!
Thank you so much! I will definitely keep that in mind and put it on my list of To-Dos.
Thank you for this
6 weeks NICU mom is here!!! I never collect more than 3 oz./session and pump 8 times a day. l try every single way that ppl say it work for them but doesn’t work for me. 9 clogged ducts and still counting🥹 thx for your video
You do know that 3oz per pump session is a full supply?!!! 24oz a day is normal!!!! I’m so sorry you’ve had so many pluggs.
Have you actually measured your nipple diameter yourself??
I talk about how to do that here. ua-cam.com/video/QicK9L-I3hA/v-deo.html
And this a great trick for clogs. ua-cam.com/video/GTRtVzO0iRU/v-deo.html
Needed to here this ❤
Hi, nobody told me about pumping more often to increase the supply. I didn’t pump for a week after delivery because my lactation counsellor said it takes time for the milk to come and asked to eat different things. After a week I was cluelessly pumping only 3-4 times during day and none at night because my NICU baby’s need was getting fulfilled in that. It’s been 4 weeks and counting NICU time and clearly my supply was not established because it’s very less now. I am going through everything said in this video. can I still increase my supply or is it too late ?
How prematurely born is your baby? It’s never to late. Commit to more pumping with a goal of 8X a day including middle of the night and give your body time to get the message. Even a couple of weeks. Also please measure your nipples for proper fit flanges. Linking a few videos for you below.

Hi, thank you for replying. He was born 29 weeks, he has been in NICU for 4 weeks now, it will take 4 more weeks for him to get discharged. Thinking about more weeks of pumping just gives me jitters because pumping has been very painful for my nipple and breast. I will go through your links, thank you so much !!
