Hi JIm! Paul Hardcastles 19 got a mention in The Office (UK) series 1 pub quiz. Gareth asked "In the song 19 by Paul Hardcastle he told us that the average of a soldier in the Vietnam war was 19. He also told us the age of a soldier in the second world war, what was it?"
No names for those Gabriel albums. His first three were Car, Scratch and Melt.
Thanks Jim, it’s great to have a virtual rifle through someone’s collection. Interesting that you file the solo artists by first name instead of surname (eg Peter Gabriel under P and not G)
1999 classic....I'm still waiting for copy of Around The World In A Day I got cheap. Heard it's good. I've got nearly all the other famous ones.... Sign o The Times, Purple Rain, Gold....and really like his last two records
Apropos Portishead....have you heard Beth Gibbons' new solo album? Absolutely brilliant. Just saw her live in Berlin. Magical....
I have not!
The world yearns for a Dear Hunter Act III listenthrough. The heaviest and best album they've done.
I’ve got it…. Just a case of fitting it in!
Yeah love Pineapple Thief since you played 'The Wall' ...👀☺️... It plays as a fabulous double album too...there had better be some Prince in there...🤞
There is…. Just not very much!
Yeah Basket of Light is a beauty. Peter Gabriels new album is goood (I/o)
Hi Jim,
Great collection although I don’t know all the bands and musicians and also don’t like some of them.
I remember 19 by Paul Hardcastle.
I like Paul Simon but I don’t know that album.
I have so many albums by Peter Gabriel. He’s so good live. The first three albums don’t have a name. They’re named by the cover.
So car, melting, scratches
I can’t listen to Peter Hammill. Can’t stand his voice.
Pijn means pain and almost sounds the same. So it’s not pigin
I have (almost?) every record by Pink Floyd. They are and will always be my most favorite band.
Love, love Pineapple thief.
Police are great.
Porcupine tree is also very great. Voyage 34 is a favorite. Anesthetize, live in Tilburg also.
Propaganda is a favorite of mine.
I miss Philip Glass. Patti Smith (group).
funny how you pronounce pijn it is the dutch word for pain .and pronounced something like pine
good records though
The first four Peter Gabriel solo albums were all called Peter Gabriel just to confuse everyone. They're usually referred to as Car, Scratch, Melt and Security. I now own 53 Peter Hammill solo albums so you've got some catching up to do. The Future Now is in the top half dozen but my favourite (this week) is 'A Black Box'. Finally, can I complain that Rule 3, Subsection D of the record collectors' union handbook is being wilfully ignored. This clearly states that records should be filed alphabetically under the SECOND name of the artist and that they should be filed chronologically for each artist. Expect a knock on the door from the Vinyl Gestapo any day now.
Sorry to say, but those P.F.M records are not the ones to have! Their first two records are the oned to hear! The italian versions! Not the English ones. Their two first are some of the best prog rock records ever made imo. Storia di un minuto and per un amico!
I endorse this opinion.
Broadly correct, though I'd also stick up for L'isola di niente as being right up there with the first two, and perhaps a more cohesive listen overall. I'm also a fan of Jet Lag as a sort of standalone proggy fusion record (but a clear departure from PFM at their pastoral best), and more recently Stati di immaginazione was a brief, but sadly not sustained, return to form.
@@runciblemoon1194 Agreed!
