The neck pickup should have been called the "chapstick"
+DifficultNerd cheeky
+DifficultNerd we can only wish...
Nice. Rob missed a trick there :)
must i say i love a bit of just captain for a change chap is great and all but i really enjoy the captains playing
Rob is the man but the captain by himself reaches extraordinary levels pf greatest when he rides solo
Daaaaamn. It was really cool to see the Captain do those heavy rythm and lead riffs at the end. I bet Chappers was proud.
You know its actualy nice to hear you yourself describe/talk about the guitars more lee since your kinda co-owner/producer/backer of the chapman guitars in the 1st place.
And you did a great job with describing things with them & showing there functionality Lee.
Ive never seen this design before but i must say it is incredibly innovative!
I really liked Lee introducing the products, good work lee!
They are absolutely breathtaking.
I love the styling and the actual sound.
I am thinking of starting playing guitar myself.
Stay awesome !
Start playing man. This may sound cheesy but it really changes the way u go about things
Reece LeClair I have to totally agree with you!
Josef Zeman... More like Josef TheMan... No okay... Thanks man:)
Thanks for your support guys!
I would love to, but my father would probably take it as "waste of money" since I haven't really stuck to any hobby I had but Voleyball. But I feel like this is different.
Dominik Šenkýř if you really want to, you should! Prove him wrong!
Amazing quality, especially the swamp ash, at unbelievable price point. Can't wait to see the upcoming traditional single-cuts.
Modern needs to come in blue. Id buy it instantly
That blue is absolutely gorgeous!
Awesome riff and solo at the end there Lee! Not really your usual play style but very well executed.
They're just really good looking, no nonsense, quality pieces of kit. Good work guys.
I know this is old and this American is a bit behind on the Chapman brand but I purchased the modern from riff city and it's everything I ever wanted in a tone. Thanks guys for creating a great and classic instrument.
Man that blue is sick looking !! But the modern is how I play, and that black is bad ass ! Oh and great job Lee , u represented really well on your own and can't wait to see more !
Amen to that. I'd jump all over an ML3 if they made the modern in that same blue satin w/ the maple board. That blue makes the maple fretboard really pop. Looks fantastic.
So... the perfect Telecaster.
That's all you had to say. The perfect Telecaster.
+Tiny J I wouldn't say "Perfect" because if you look at John 5 of His solo stuff and His work with Rob Zombie, He thinks in his own words "If its perfect then don't fix it". During an interview about one of his 57' model Tele's he has
I've been waiting for this video. The Traditional is essentially a tele with nearly all the mods I would want and it rocks. The Modern sounds immense as well, but that Traditional is the guitar.
The Traditional in this video sounds way better than it did in the first demo a few months back. Looks beautiful in that natural finish as well
I saw one of these at my local guitar center. I tried it out, and it felt like a really solid guitars. I'd never think I'd ever get to see or play a Chapman, but when I did, it was incredible. The shape isn't really my style, but now I know the Chapman V will be nice.
Love the Trad. can't wait to vote for the chapman junior, hope we can do a full thickness double cut!
The Cap10 has so Damn much feeling when he plays, its awsome!
the traditional looks great. i've never had a telly, i sort of want this one now.
The Cap shines when Rob's not there to shred him up!
Thanks for the demo Cap! :)
A lot of people don't give captain the credit he deserves as a guitarist. He isn't a shred guy he is more of a blues/rock guy and I think he sounds great he has good ear for tone and lets face it he is just a really nice guy. Rock on Cap!!! sounding good!
great job Lee. I predict a brilliant solo career!!!
wow!!! love the neck pickup on the ml3 traditional
That's a really nice looking piece of timber.
Kudos to you guys starting a line of guitars from the ground up! You started from scratch to make a dent in this highly competitive and very tough market! I'm saving my pennies because I GOTTA get that ML-3 Traditional (blue) Give it time and you will conquer the States!!!!!
Rarely heard such a good clean tone from an unmodded Chapman guitar (traditional)
Captain I recently received my ML3 traditional, I love it. Thanks for making these great guitars affordable!
Hi Rob & Lee received my mL3 modern in natural finish on Friday 4 days earlier than stated which was pretty cool big thanks to andertons for that. The guitar is amazing plays &feels so comfortable &great range on tones & versatile for different styles of music which i like which range from rock, blues, metal & country. My fingers are so sore from playing it for so long over last 2days so big thanks rob &Lee for the mL3 cant wait for the ML22,got to get saving for it & the victory v30 head &2x12 cab.
Can't wait to get my hands on one of those guitars. Going to use em on the new stuff I'm working on!!!
beautiful guitar, gorgeous playing. my next guitar.
Came so close to pulling the trigger on a satin blue one the other day, but I must wait.
So...Lee can throw down a nice sound when he wants too, nice Captain. Different chords for a change was nice as well.
Both guitars look and sound awesome!
I fell in love with the modern one! I need to get one!
Man I want the Ml-3 Modern in that blue finish!
Sick playing Capt !
Great video Captain, loved it!
right as lee said, "for now youre just gonna have to put up with me." , it went straight to commercial
Sounds sweet, nice playing Captain ;-)
great timing for this video considering im ordering my ml3 modern mahogany from andertons tomorrow when i get payed!
Great looking guitars. With that last bit, the captain showed a bit of tuneful riffage from the less used portion of his repertoire. Well done. I think (maybe) Rob grabs that space when he is there? Great low bend.
Darn Captain, your starting to get better than me. Off to practice more.
The guitars are beautiful, but I never thought I'd dislike the matching headstock idea:/ I think the blue traditional would look so much better with its natural swamp ash finish, the guitars are killer though! Can't wait to finally get hold of one
The Captain looks so lonely when he turns on the looper pedal :P
I just noticed that in the last few andertons reviews was really strong, so that it was refletcting really strongly of the guitars. Would be cool if the lighting could be a little less bright. Besides of that:Great video . Keep the good work up :D and Hope that this was constructive feedback ^^
I wasn't a fan of the blue in the pictures but the color in this video is changing my mind. Reminds me of the tardis haha. Too bad I'm already waiting for my modern to come this week.
I like everything about the design except the head looks really funny with the tuners on the opposite side.
Stunning!
Can I just say Lee sounds great through the Silverback! Just goes to show how versatile an amp it really is. Also the neck pup on the traditional made me swoon :D
I wonder when the Junior or "J" models will be shown. Super excited for this Chappers!
Good work Capt!
wow! The coil split @ 14:04 actually sounds REALLY good! Usually they kinda suck, for whatever reasons (and I do not know why). This one sounds really fat and authentique. That's a huge selling point.
I really like the blue!
Quite funny that Lee does all he can do not to mention the word "telecaster" ! He did let it slip out once or twice - but that's pretty good for a 17 minute review for a guitar that is so firmly based on the Tele!!
Best pickup name ever goes to Chapman Guitar Passive Aggressor...i laughed rather loudly at how fantastic that is!
Sneaky little bit of velvet revolver at the end there cap'n, nice to see you branch out from the blues :P
Awesome outro!
Any plans on doing a left-handed versions? Also - am I the only one, who wants a Ml-3 vs Tele shootout with different amps? ;)
I would love a modern but with the blue color the traditional has
I just ordered a ML-3 Modern. Just waiting for it to arrive
Did it arrive?
Yeah it arrived on the 29th of december I think. It's absolutely amazing. Such a good guitar
Hey Rob and Cap, just wondering if you guys plan on doing a video for the ML-1 Pro? Or if you already have and I managed to miss it? I'm looking at grabbing one from Riff City, but the details on it are a little sparse, and I'm curious if it has all of the fun switching wizardry that a regular ML-1 Standard has. Thanks!
Been going through ours the last day or so, great guitars! I love the Carved top on a T-style guitar.
Nice work Lee cheers
That riff at the end bears a striking resemblance to slither by velvet revolver.
Beautiful look, love the natural ash with the maple neck. Bit underwhelmed by the bridge pickup switching option unfortunately. Nothing stopping you from retrofitting a blade humbucker and using the control for coil splitting though.
i like the idea of these, but i think maybe you should think about maybe a glossy finish or something, do something more with the finishes! i think the completely plain swamp ash traditional would look KILLER with a glossy sunburst finish, the orange fading into the natural color body. or maybe spalted maple? i have a custom tele hand made with a spalted maple top sunburst, looks fantastic. i think it would look good on that.
The votes on the neck resulted in Standard for the Traditional and Thin for the modern, are they really the same on the production models?
Yep, they are different necks
Yup - I go that wrong - we'll put an annotation on the video that corrects my mistake! Cheers
CaptAnderton wow lee I love how great those blues come through when your on your own.
CaptAnderton Awesome demo, Cap10! Nice little loop jam at the end. Well done!
CaptAnderton you should slowly work on a solo EP. your playing is cooler than you think.
I'm in love with the ML-3 Modern with the Natural finish or even better ... that amazing Swamp Ash finish ! Where do I find it ?! I searched everywhere. :o Any chance something like that would be available at Andertons in 2018 ?
Ok Cap'n, this is the first time (I think) we've seen you use a looper... which one was it, etc. (Damn nice job on the whole thing as well). It's about time you guys did a loopout, maybe during the Holiday special: "Can you use a looper after consuming holiday beverages?"
I really like these guitars, I want to get one next year once I've got the money :D
You should've called the Traditional's neck pickup the "Chap-stick"! Awesome guitars, wish I had the money for a ML3 RC in black.. Saving up!
Are there more finishes coming for the Traditional? 2 or 3-tone burst would look amazing on it.
Thanks for closely demonstrating the features on this guitars guys, it does seem amazing value for money. Although, it is such a shame you played the traditional through the Silverback again! I was really hoping to hear some real tele twang from one of those Fender amps behind Lee.
Man, I would go to the UK just so I can visit Andertons.
And of course, I want that Staxmaster. I mean, THE CAPTAIN LEE SIGNATURE PEDAL
Any plans to release the traditional in more colors?
I'd like one in black :]
Hello there,
I am living in Germany and i'd like to see/test the Chapman Ml-3 Modern. The problem is, i can't find a shop where i could test a Chapman ML-3 Modern. You know something about that? Do you know if thomann's going to have this guitar in their shop?
Greetings from germany dudes :)
I've been wanting to buy a chapman guitar for some time now, but we don't have any retailers in Denmark so i would have to order one online. I'm quite obsessed over neck joints though and would love to know how strictly the guitars are checked before they are shipped? :) Last time i bought a medium price range guitar online the build quality was horrible, so usually i would never by a guitar without feeling it first. Cheers from Denmark.
Tasty playing at the end there Cap! The black modern is calling out to me, though I have to say I am not a fan of the colour matched headstock on the blue traditional. Looks wrong to me!
Will the traditional be available left handed in natural and if so about how much USD would it be cause I'm really loving that beauty and I've been dying to get a Chapman
Modern all the way for me but aesthetically I'd want a neck zebra. Love the fact that they will divide opinion. It's what stuff should do.
Excellent strumming tone.. what amp / signal path is El Capitan using in this?
I'm getting a traditional in two weeks. Two weeks can't come quick enough !
+Henry Rots So how is it then ? This is surely getting on my list as well !
It's amazing! I havent put it down all week. The pick ups are a bit hot but around a fantastic guitar !
Very nice ! Does the coil split affect the neck pickup as well ?
+Canada Bob no Its only the bridge . but there is still a plethora of tones in this guitar. I'm using on my new album
That's cool ! Care to share a link where I may take a listen ?
Do they have the same neck profile ? Because the look kind of similar to me from the video.
CAP10, C\-/APPERS.
How's the finish on that, as in, have you tried to do any relicing on like one of the blue ones just to see how it wears through?
Thanks for any info you've got. Might be a cool video if you haven't done it yet!
Play more AC/DC in your demo's Capt Lee. that sounded great.
Yeah this is the guitar! Soon I will buy one yeah.. The modern
Do the modern in Andertons Blue (yes that's a thing now) and im gonna start saving my pennies, course could just strip it and dip it I spose (stroking chin motion).
Also excellent chops there Lee we need more Captain Solo.
Hi,
I am looking at getting my first electric guitar. I own a nice Simon and Patrick acoustic, and regularly play a Les Paul Standard for a worship team, but I would like my own electric guitar. I have a budget, nothing more than $1000, and I have been looking (and liking) the Fender Tele Standard, but I also am interested in the Chapman ML-3. My two biggest drawbacks with the ML-3 is that it doesn't have quite as clean a sound as the Tele, and that the head is at an angle backwards, which Ive heard makes it less resilient to falls.
Any advice?
George Bears Cort MBC-1. $600, or less, guitar with an amazing humbucker and single cool pickup. Sounds amazing clean, very versatile for any style. Very comfortable, and it looks cool as well. Kind of a hunchback of telecasters. You can also order it with a coil tap for an extra £50. It also has a fun little kill button.
Great video Lee love the all natural. The issue I have with Chapman guitars is which one to buy first.
I think it'd be super sick if you did a mahogany t type with 2 p90s, 2 vol, 2tone, set neck. You can't get anything like that except I know the company b3 makes something similar for a big chunk of change. Just an idea!
Question:
Do you think an Orange Micro Terror running through a Marshall MG412CF would be a good first real amp? It's a step up from my crappy Peavey Backstage-II. I'm going to be using it for practicing/recording/gigging small venues. I figured since I have a low budget now I can get this, and then when I get more money I can get some pedals and make a good setup. Does this sound good? Tips, comments, advice? Thanks, and take care (:
Just had a look at the map, there is a Canadian outlet in Alberta, very cool! (And very cold this time of year). Curious that there's no outlet in South Korea though. Congratulations on exploding all over the world, what a great way to end 2014.
that natural one is fucking gorgeous!
What beautiful looking guitars. No left handed verions by any chance? :)
How is the truss rod adjustment easier to get at down there? Surely it's much easier to adjust from the headstock
say i was to buy one those guitars would it be shipped all the way to Romania?
Need more colors. Three color burst would be killer
