Pretty good plane to be honest, I've been maintaining a 1.8 K/D in it even queueing with friends at 11.7 or 12.0. around 450 games at most would get you to the Fulcrum with this plane if you could keep decent stats

@@stunfill4697 no I didn't. It's not worth the money
The only problem with it is the lackluster radar. Sure it’s got good range and coverage, but it has subpar tracking ability. Sometimes I’m literally looking right at bogeys at co-altitude and it won’t show anything on the radar so I end up having to ACM because they’re too close. It can also lose lock if they are doing anything other than flying towards or away from you, if they are beaming then forget it and if they are at certain angles which seems to vary wildly then it drops lock too. I find myself mostly just slapping on all IR missiles and using the IRST.
Oh, and the way Gaijin has set it up so that you have to use the “select secondary weapon” to choose IR missiles if you have both because for whatever frickin reason even if you’re using IRST the game will select the SARH missiles first when pressing the “fire a/a missile” or “lock a/a” AND those require a lock to be had already in order to spool up otherwise you just get the “requires radar lock” message. Which is frustrating because in the heat of battle focusing on the enemy it is difficult to keep track of what weapon you have selected and that can mean the difference between a kill and a death.
I fully agree about this being the better top tier premium among the other options. In air rb when I see a f4s it's a free kill.
I'd love it if you could do a guide for the ML(A/D/*) in 11.7 up-tiers vs F14/F16/M29's - with their waves of superior BVR, and better maneuverability. I did fine prior to latest update, but all I face in my M-23ML*'s is 11.7, 100% of the time, and its a struggle...
Yeah it’s quite annoying, basically have to hope an F-14 or F-16 is not focusing on you
I've got the 23MLD and it's way better now than when f14 spam was. You can easily beat the f16 in the 23 if you manually put wings out in a dogfight, the T missiles I have found to be very capable for top down stealth attacks and bvr isn't too much an issue once you learn to notch.
R-24, notch their radar missile, out turn the F-16 since it's limited to 9g, *use your wing sweep*
Also you can use ACM mode on your radar to pull off some particularly nasty r60 shots at very close range

If you got the $70, I'd say this is a solid investment. Recommend only running the IR loadout with 2xR-24Ts and 4xR-60Ms and use the IRST radar as it will not give RWR nor radar lock warning.
P.S. Recommend to bind your keys for the manual swept wing mechanic so you can fully extend out your wings when in a dogfight or to sweep them back when at high speeds. rarely do i have it on auto unless I'm engaging a bandit as my teammate is #1 on his 6 as I'm trying to keep energy and altitude advantage then no reason to extend my wings out as I'm in the middle of helping out then I'm not trying to boom n' zoom, as I want to stay close as support, so I don't need my wings swept back either

U recommended su25k, a slow ground attack plane, that thing is just dog food for any jet and will make grinding significantly harder
hey u have any trouble with mig23ml's r24f veering into the ground? or turning at the last second to miss the target. Also with MTI can u attack from the side and not do headons, or when i'm attacking from side should i switch off MTI.
Climb to 20k feet before you turn in for the initial merge, even most F-16s and F-14s aren’t paying attention to you and you can legit fly over everyone at 20-25k feet, once above you can just lunge the R24T from at most 6 or 7 km away, almost always guaranteed one of the two bandits will die, then you’re close enough to throw R60s at people and since you’re aiming down they can really reach out and touch someone even with the short burn time.

@@zak9100 in the 3 days it took you to write this comment i learned how to play the mig 23ml it is very easy to learn 10/10 i would recommend but the comment still stays true you should not climb high instead use the r24r and stay below 2 km to use the mti mode and try to get into head ons

@@xianchaencari3244 for that you want the "change radar/IRST mode" control. Another tip is to map the "Radar/irst beyond/within visual range combat" option to swap the radar over to boresight targeting to make it easier to lock targets at close range in the middle of a big furball. You'll need to use the normal target selection options to lock targets at longer ranges though.

@@MilesBTW the R24T (IR version) true strength imo is that it can be used in similar distances as SARH missiles without tripping enemy RWR. So yes they will flare it if they expect it, but the thing is the R24 can be used in a way someone might not expect in the heat of battle
I would say if you got the money get it it’s probably one of the best planes at top teir it don’t take that much skill it took my ten games and i was averaging 2-3 kills a game

Any plane can be used in those modes, now is it efective? Idk in arcade but pve it should do good with its speed

It is actually a MLA with a worse Radar. So it is closer to a MLA not the MLD.

@@itspeachy2540 @Its Peachy No not wrong way around. MLs were upgraded with a better Radar to use the R24s. ML->MLA->MLD. That is the correct order. That is what all the sources say. I have Yefim Gordons book right next to me and his book on the Mig23 is the best literature you can get. So next time please deal with the subject matter before you post wrong facts. Thank you.

@@itspeachy2540 yeah he's right. From the MiG-23M as a basis, the ML's prime improvement was a lighter weight fuselage which led to the improved T/W ratio of 0.83 versus 0.77. The next improvement, MLA, focused primarily on an upgraded radar set, IRST sensor and firing control system. The final improvement, MLD, was centered on flight performance, with a rework in aerodynamics (addition of vortex generation and sawtoothed wing roots) that gives the aircraft higher AoA and thus tighter turning capability, as well as strengthened wing roots to handle more G's and more speed at a straighter wing angle.

Tankenstein, would you recommend to purchase the a10 for grinding or is it a suffer or is the F5C a better option cause I've had enough time in my beloved av8...
I prefer the a-10 because you don’t have to go against f-14 like the f5c. Plus I sometimes make up to 100k a match if I bomb get a kill or 2 and get ground targets. F5c is also ok but I found the a-10 is more fun to fly.

@@FishyTopic 2 R-60MKs, the best IR missiles in the game below 12.0 tied with maybe 9Ls. Literally 2 free kills at 10.0. Speaking of 10.0 that is 1.3 BR lower than the MiG-23ML, and as such you cannot get uptiered to 12.0. And take it from someome who owns it the ML gets uptiered nearly every game. On top of this the 25K can hold it's own in ground battles, with AMAZING ordinance loadouts, probably the best ground pounder for GRB in the game. So even if you just want air RB you could probably bomb bases with it after or before your 2 free kills.

I bought it for the grind and yes it is worth it if you are experienced enough but if you are new play some games first because Jets play different then props and you will die a lot if you don’t get some experience also the gun pods destroy light armor tanks that’s it I recommend
(Ps I think it is the best premium so far and for the experienced players use the noobs learning curve to your advantage)

If you get the su7 or SU-25, don't get them for Air RB. Only get them if you're gonna use them in ground RB, because in Air RB both those planes are just food.

How do I change the range of the radar
Search of radar in the controls panel, then set keybinds for each. The second setting (I’m pretty sure) is your range.
I dont know what the fuck theyve done to the R-60Ms, but i havent landed a SINGLE R-60 since the patch. Not one, even on jets literally flying straight, no flares, not turning, at a very lazy attack angle, and on full afterburner, EVERY working for them, and theyre fucking missing. Every kill ive gotten has been with the R24T, WHICH to that point have also nerfed and are far more susceptible to flares which was pointless since it would still go after them often enough. Since the hotfix id get 3 that fall for flares for every one that doesnt. All while still fighting F14s, F16s and Mig 29s that all out shine it.
the top speed on the stat card is pretty missleading lol, i could get it up to 2500kph at about 11000m in a straight line

MiG-23ML is in a better spot, at least if you prefer air dominance. Better air-to-air missiles for close and long range, though the F-4S is better against ground.

@@GeneralArmchair my mig21 MF is premium and only has R3S and R3R configurations and no countermeasures. Currently I'm only using R3R missiles for head on engagements. They aren't really useful for anything else

@@gendarmerielosblancos4395 Your replies got lost in my notification feed. I don't have experience with the Mig21, but after playing for a few more weeks I still think that 2xR24-R and 4xR60M is still the best loadout for the Mig-23ML.
Head to head jousting engagements have been the name of the game for me and have scored me most of my missile kills. I generally follow the following gameplan during my matches:
1: Set my wings to 0% sweep during takeoff and then return my wings to "automatic" mode once I've raised my landing gear. Later during the match I'll return to semi-auto mode if I need to duel someone in a gunfight.
2: I stay low to the ground to disrupt enemy radar guided missiles. The missile seekers get confused by radar reflections of the target once close to the ground. By staying low, I mean less than 100m from the surface. Ideally closer to 20m above the surface.
3: I will approach the enemy team headon, but from the far left or right of the blob of friendly planes. Ideally I will also try to hide my approach with canyons/mountains.
4: Upon reaching the enemy, my objective is to score kills with my two R-24R's. I'm looking for hot targets that are higher than ~100m. I want to lock them with SRC mode at 8-6km and immediately fire before they can start chaffing. If they chaff after missile launch, I just pray that the missile hits. If they chaff before I can launch, then I hold my fire to look for a new target. During this I want to start pre-emptively deploying countermeasures to disrupt any AIM-9L's or R-24T or R-27T's that are sent my way.
5: If the opponent is too low for a radar missile, I'll attempt an R60M head-to-head. I'll pre-flare during the approach to disrupt any missile locks. I will lock the target during my approach but hold my fire. Just prior to 1km I'll spray a few short bursts of cannon fire to make the opponent think that we're doing a gun run at each other. Then, if the opponent hasn't pre-flared, I'll release the R60M at a range of ~800-900m. There usually isn't time for any new flares to seperate from the plane at this point.
6: After merging with the enemy, I will not turn around to engage any other nearby enemies. Instead I'll keep my speed up and cut across the frontline with the ultimate intent to pass through friendly lines again. This whole time I'll keep my eyes open for other hot targets ~6-8km away for a new R-24R attack, or look for any enemies preoccupied with my teammates. Toss R60M's at the preoccupied enemies to see if they pass the vibe check.
7: Once my R-24R's are expended, my objective is to RTB for resupply. I'll assist with any nearby targets of opportunity along the way, but ultimately I want to disengage and get more R-24R's.

In my opinion Premium Jets should be able to farm bases/groundtargets.
Most of the time you want a Premium vehicle to farm SL and grind the tree.
Planes that can do both, are much better for grinding.

What's the difference between the MiG 23 and MiG 27?
MiG-27 is a ground attack variant of the MiG-23 but it is still alright in the air tho nowhere near as potent as the MiG-23

Strong as hell. Cheap spawn cost and if you master the art of being stealthy with the IRST/R34Ts you are guaranteed at least two kills each life.

@@thefox787 that's cause the sim scene is kind of dead :/ sadly it's not really popular due to the weird game mode and extreme repair costs compared to the gain. But a good way to farm RP if you get good at it! :)

F-14 still is king. Until F16 gets buffed
both are amazing, but if u dogfight f16, f14 has the better radar tho its just up to personal choice
F-16 if you fw ground as well. If not, F-14 solid especially on bigger maps as it still has one of the best BVR loadouts in the game. The AIM-56's got a slight buff it feels cuz I've been dying to that more often even when I turn away, dive, and turn. Both solid aircraft but 100% F-16 if you be playing top tier ground as the AGMs and GBUs are solid on the F-16's platform

i 100% recommend, decent radar and missiles
Highly suggest only running the IR missile loadout. 2xR24Ts and 4xR-60Ms. Play support role and you'll rack up easy kills especially with the R-24Ts from distance. 4-7km is a solid range (obviously 7km being they're in the middle of turning and such)

I'm actually impressed by it's maneuverability and speed retention in dog fights. I noticed that the F-14 players get angry when they get outmaneuvered. One guy was yelling at me last night for shooting him down with guns after he stalled in a dogfight and I shot him all across the fuselage. According to him a Mig-23ML is not capable of doing that. I bought it to grind for Mig-29 but now looking at the loadouts, I'm not sure if I'm going to like it more than this plane.

In my opinion the mig has the higher performance ceiling once mastered, but the Su-25k is both much easier to use and can serve as a CAS plane in ground RB. You NEED to learn to to defend and attack with BVR combat with the mig, which is challenging for some players.

It was the same event and vehicles cost around that money :(. I'm in the same situation as you, i want the 23ML and gonna spend the money I get with the airplane event. Hopefully is more than 30$!!

Don't buy it whatever it's price is it's just not capable plane with broken radar range 30km you are seen by anything except mig-21, R-60M nerfed even smallest flare could turn missile tracking facing F-14,16 won't give you much life.

Hell no to the Su25. for 10 bucks more you get R24Ts and the great climber that the 23 is. If you have a good amount of skill and previous experience with top tier the 23ML is the way to go.
