Downspout Drain Pipe Installation - Underground Downspout Drainage
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лип 2024
- In this video I will show you how to do a downspout drain installation. I installed my downspout drainage system underground. If you want a dry basement or crawlspace it is very important to divert water away from your house using corrugated pipe that is solid. Your guttering system should get tied into this drainage system so some would call this a guttering drain. Hope this video helps you keep rain water out of your basement or crawlspace!

I like the HAMMER the like button.
You were talking about your craw space. One thing I did & I'm glad I done it was pour a concrete floor in mine. Xtra money but I think it was well worth it. Have a wonderful rest of the day
I debated about pouring the floor too. No more than I’m down there I figured it would not be worth it. That was a great idea on your behalf!
Super great job Josh . Much continued support and success with your channels .
I use to do this alot when I worked for an demolition/excavation company and we did it quite differently
As always enjoyed the video and the explanations! Can’t wait to see the garage video.
Hey Larry! I’m glad you are finding value in my content! I’m excited to build the garage as well! Take care!
I'm watching your videos in Canada
Great video! One suggestion is to use solid PVC pipe to ensure it doesn’t get compromised and No roots chase the water.. Also use “Y” instead of “T”s..😎
nice to see water drain away from the foundation-! keep it UP!
Thanks, will do!
Niice.. I just didn't want to clean gutters so I enhanced this concept at my carport. I used Perforated 4" drainage pipe and wrapped it in a drainage pipe sock and buried it beneath filtration fabric topped with decorative rocks and changed over to a solid drainage pipe after that length was established.
Where my downspouts penetrate into the concrete walkway, I installed a piece of 1/4" galvanized hardware cloth on the bottom of the gutter - making sure I could remove the gutter from the gutter adapter at the drainage pipe to completely and totally eliminate any possibility of getting the drainage pipe clogged is things went through the gutter (which they do).
I also used a gutter guard at the top of the gutter where the downtube connects, perhaps overkill, but eventually I removed the top and now I really do not need to clean the gutter from a ladder, I just pull the down tube out and remove the hardware cloth to clean it as needed.
After doing Extensive research on gutter guards, it is my belief that the best gutter covers are the stainless steel mesh by Gutterglove - TIP: Get the 4 footers and buy in Quantity not special buys at Depot. Difference can be upwards of over $1/ foot!
Sounds like you did an excellent job you the install! Views will be able to get value out of this post and I appreciate it. Thanks a lot for commenting!
Nice job buddy
Good session
Thank you!
Great video.!!!
Thanks a lot Kenny!!
Saludos bendiciones Josh gracias x videos con excelente información. Muchos calurosos abrazos a la familia desde indianapolis Indiana 🇬🇹🙏❤️
Hey Jonathan! It is good to hear from you. Thanks a lot from watching again!
Nice
Thanks for watching my videos!
Great video .... hope a ton of people get to see this so they get a chance to learn what is takes outside the home to keep the integrity of a home. almost to 40k subs Josh!!!! You will be there in a week. BET??
Thanks Thor! You are right. It’s the excavating that is done around the house is what determines how dry the crawlspace in basement will be. I hope to hit 40,000 subs soon! At this rate a week sounds reasonable. I never thought I would say that. It is getting crazy! Thanks for keeping track with me!
@@TheExcellentLaborer I've reached out to all those people and gave them $5 each to subscribe ... lets see ... 40,000 x 5 = $200,000.00. You can pay me back in merch. haha. Hope you are having a great day and the week is perfect
Now that is hilarious! That would be a true act of kindness LOL. All right man let’s see how many subs come around in the next week!
Nice dude.
Thank you for watching!
I have soil envy. My soil has more rocks than you could imagine, even with a backhoe it’s brutal.
I’m not going to lie it’s probably the best soil on a lot I’ve ever ran into. There was at least 4 foot deep of nothing but topsoil type material. Oh yeah I have had ground like that before Robert. It can be rough. Thanks for watching!
Good work! How much do contractors normally charge for this? Like per linear foot
Very good video but just a question. Many people say that corrugated pipe is not good but in the north they are wrong. It’s much better during the winter season vs the pvc pipe. My question is do you think if there is no clean out would be a problem for such a long run of pipe? Shingle gravel is gonna be a problem if there is no chance to clean it…
Thanks
Hey Josh, great video! I just subscribed. I’m still a bit confused with one thing when it comes to downspout drainage installation. I’m about to start it at my house and I wanted to tackle it myself even though I know close to nothing. Do you actually need gravel/river rocks to fill your trench and surround the pipe? Or just fill it back up with dirt? My yard only has red clay, hard to work with that.
Thank you!
Did you consider schedule 4 PVC like ole Gate City Foundation uses?
I did but the price of PVC is outrageous right now. I used this corrugated pipe on my last house and had no problems. Good thinking though! Thanks for watching!
I was going to mention the same thing. I recently bought a house that has corregated pipe underground that connects to the downspouts and someone likely whacked it with a weed eater and now it has holes in it.
You were talking about the next house that you’re gonna start, how long does it take you on a build since you work another job?
Hey Chris! A lot depends on what job you have. For instance I work 3, 12 hour shifts. Select gives me four days to work on the house which is almost full-time. The last house before this one was 1900 ft.² and I built it in 13 months. So there are many factors that could interfere with the timeline. Such as weather and if there is a material shortage of some kind. I hope that helps Chris!
Just courious, why didn't you use a ditchwitch, and how did you set your grade. Shedule 40 would have be better but lot more expensive. Looks good bud !
They already had the backhoe doing work around the lot such as installing the sewage drain line. So we just knocked these lines out real quick. Yes schedule 40 would have been a lot better but way more expensive. Not worth the extra money to me. Thanks a lot for watching!
How would you terminate those underground drain pipes in a subdivision with a concrete curb? No ditch available.
Hey! There is a fitting called a pop up drainage emitter. It comes up into the grass and then drains that way. You may want to look into that. Hope that helps!
So handsome !! 😘😘😘😘
Oh thanks!
Why that stuff instead of PVC? That stuff seems pretty shit, like those T's are 100% gunna leak and eventually cause a small sink hole above them.
