  • Students at Leeds University have been particularly brave in setting up an encampment in solidarity with Gaza, having been subjected to harassment and violence from both the university and from zionists.
Incredibly, the university employs a chaplain who returned to Israel after October 7 to serve in the IDF - and was allowed to come back, despite breaking university guidelines by posting questionable videos in a Whatsapp chat, upsetting many students. At the same time any staff who dare to discuss the genocide in class find themselves being monitored by the university, and in some cases having their pay stopped.
The students occupied a building to demand an end to the university's complicity with Israel's war crimes, only to find themselves locked in without food or water. When they escalated to an encampment after the management refused to meet their demands, a peaceful protest was violently attacked by security.
They are determined to continue the struggle and are receiving loads of support from both inside and outside the university; come down and visit, or better still join them - they're right opposite the Students Union building.
