UK Student Gaza encampments: Liverpool

The University of Liverpool has connections with a whole range of companies that invest in, and manufacture weapons which are currently being used by Israel in the ongoing genocide, including BAE Systems, HP Software, Collins Aerospace and Raytheon.
After just a few days, the encampment set up by students (and supported by staff) to push for divestment has grown rapidly, with more and people turning up to camp every day - and has now become a focal point to build an even bigger movement in Liverpool, with numerous unions, organisations and members of the public visiting in solidarity.
You can go and visit them at Alareer Square, renamed by the students from Abercromby Square (Abercromby was himself an infamous genocidal commander in the British Army) in honour of Refaat Alareer, the Palestinian poet, academic and activist famous for the poem "If I die You Must Live" - and recently murdered along with his family in Gaza. Encampments like this are part of a huge global student movement now that is dtermined to continue until Palestine is free - from the river to the sea.
