i bought one about 3 weeks ago, live in suburb of rochester ny and i commute into the city everyday at between 70-75 and it has no problem at all. then once in the city with 60lb ft from the electric motor at 0rpm it zooms right around town quicker than most non hybrids
@xMITCHx336 GM has a brand in Australia called Holden, so the Volt is known as the Holden Volt in Australia. Also the Chevy Cruze is sold as the Holden Cruze, Pontiac G8 is Holden Commodore, etc.
Kyle can you do Honda Accord Coupe current generation please? I absolutely love your videos they are so awesome. Your videos are where I get my car-knowledge! LOL
At 10:25 you very quickly show how to fold down the rear seats. Unfortunately on my Honda Insight 2011 one of the latches for folding down the rear seat seems to be locked. I haven't yet discovered how to unlock this latch - nor have I understood why Honda ever built a lock into the latch system for the rear seats in the first place?
@wizztay I could say the Prius copied the design of the Insight since the first generation Insight had this hatchback style when the Prius was just a normal 4 door saloon at that time.
@eliroxxmysoxx I'll explain it! This hybrid car has a 1.3 liter inline 4 cylinder gas engine, and it also has an electric motor. when the car is at a stoplight, the engine shuts off to save gas. my dad has this same car, and he gets 48 miles per gallon, compared to 30 or so miles per gallon of other vehicles. that is the economical part. my dad got his 2011 honda insight for around $19,000. Hope this helps.
I'm a musician who plays large instruments, and I'm sixteen, so I'm looking for a car that's really good on gas and has lots of space in the back for my concert bass. I don't have the best job in the world, so I'm looking at this and the Fit, but I'm still researching. Since they last so long, I'd rather not move away from Honda, and my parents are restricting me to four-cylinders unless I can convince them otherwise.
@eliroxxmysoxx this uses regular gas. the only other expense i could think of that is different than a fully gasoline vehicle, is that you have to replace the batteries after a couple thousand miles, not sure how much exactly, maybe 50,000 or 80,000 miles? I'm not really sure, it might even be 150,000 miles.
@TheNamesDonovan ohh ok.. so obivously, u dont put alot of gas so soon, it doesnt waste it. but what kinda gas does it use?? regular, midgrade, premium?? but are hybrid cars more expensive to maintain?
@xMITCHx336 the only Aussie brand is Holden lol.we do have two Fords that are Aussie.Ford Falcon and Ford Territory if you haven't heard of them.some Toyota's and Mitsubishi's are build in Australia.
Z&G Works Yes, the Prius has a better hybrid system but that comes with a higher price tag. As far as I know the insight only stays electric if at a stand still, while the Prius is able to turn the engine off while in motion as well. I think that’s what you’re asking?
@@616civicmt8 yes exactly. Sorry for the grammar, kinda tired at the moment. But I gotta say I like hybrids you don't need an electrical station for recharging better. Especially in germany where there aren't as many as there should be..
Z&G Works no problem I’m exhausted too, I really like hybrids as well. We currently have 3 in my driveway, 2 of which are Prius. Ive been eyeing the new Honda Insight as of late, has a more sophisticated hybrid system like the Prius
@85ZingoGTR Diesels are underrated at best. But thanks to my country's craptastic diesel quality, manufacturers are reluctant to release diesel cars. The Golf TDI is my favourite diesel.
im confused!! so what exactly is a hybrid car?? is it a car that is also electrical?? meaning u save more gas?? if someone could explain it all. and how come this car has that stuff about economical?? is that part of the electrical engine? so if this car is hybrid, does it mean its a 4 or 6 cylinder car?? if someone could be nice enough to explain it, i would appreciate it. and how much is this car?
@xMITCHx336 no Chevrolet's in Australia unless imported.Chvrolet is going to give Holden(GM) the Volt sometime next year.we have the Holden Captiva,Holden Cruze(Australian Made now)Holden Caprice Holden Commodore Holden Colorado,Holden Combo Holden Epica.most are Chevry's
Caleb Rinehart That's for snow/ice/gravel/ or any other slick spots on the road. Not for having "too much power to rip the cover off the wheels". Without traction control, I wouldn't have gotten up some snowy hills for my wheels would have just been spinning excessively. I never knew why so many people laugh when an underpowered car has traction control. It's for safety.
@ThatCheetosGuy79 Why is it funny??? I meant no humor in what I said. I was serious. It is fuel efficient and it is practical. The comment on styling was my own opinion.
@eliroxxmysoxx It can be a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder gas engine but most popular is a 4. An electric motor accompanies it. The car will automatically switch between the 2 motors depending on the driving demands, the electric motor will run at idle and low speeds then the gas motor will kick in if more power is needed or the battery needs charging. The brakes also charge the battery. They are no better than a diesel VW Golf. More expensive to maintain and the economy isnt that much better.
No offense, but you are forgetting that Toyota recalled millions of vehicles worldwide for a fatal problem of accelerating out of control to over 100 mph, killing people. Honda on the other hand has a nearly spotless record. You need to reevaluate which one is a "better" company. Dont get me wrong, id still buy a Toyota today, im just saying they have had fatal incidents in the past and Honda has not.
Anythings better than a Fagyota Prius but in all honesty what possible advantages does this thing have? Other than 40MPG (Which is an EPA Estimate so it'll never acheive such a number).

i always loved honda cars and this is one of my favorites
😍😍😍 I'm in love with this car....its my dream vehicle ....
@Your Mad 😂😂😂 Ik it sounds stupid
I think it looks great, fuel efficient, and it is practical. Just what Honda is going for.
This is my dream car
Did u get it?
@@savannahgrace5445A poor man’s Prius
I wish they'd increase the back seat space even just by slightly decreasing the trunk space
The styling is unique! Great vid as always Kyle!
I love this car so much!! I hope to get a cherry red one and have it be 2013 EX model.
honda or lamborghini i love seeing your vids in my sub box after a long day at work
Looks like a mixture between the 2nd gen fit and 8th gen civic.
Clifford I can relate, lol
@xMITCHx336 GM has a brand in Australia called Holden, so the Volt is known as the Holden Volt in Australia. Also the Chevy Cruze is sold as the Holden Cruze, Pontiac G8 is Holden Commodore, etc.
I don’t know why but this is actually the only Honda I like.. it just looks sporty

I cant wait for you to upload the Honda Pilot!
I have the facelifted/improved version of this Insight in light blue. It's 3 years old now and I love it ever since day one :] :D
Gosh I love this car!

i love muscle cars but 40 mpg is looking real lovely right now lol

Our friends in Louisville have one of these. Just the LX though, but they got it right when it came out so I do have a video of it on my channel.
If you ever get the opportunity, you should do a review on the 2019 insight.

No.

Who else is here from the new Regular Car Reviews video?
nice review
Nice idea with showing a dashboard from a back seat.
One of the few hybrids which actually has a tachometer.
the 2010-present Honda Insight/ Honda Insight Hybrid is assembled in
Suzuka, Mie, Japan
My favorite ZIPCAR:)
@TheNamesDonovan ohh ok.. so obivously, u dont put alot of gas so soon, it doesnt waste it. but what kinda gas does it use?? regular, midgrade, premium?? but are hybrid cars more expensive to maintain?
Seems like a good alternative to say a Smart or Mini, but with less than 100hp, I honestly don't want to take this on freeway.
Good first car then?

U can see the dark cherry peral pilot in the back that kyles gonna make
I’m confused which would you guys buy Toyota Prius or Honda Insight don’t be rude just idk
Ravian murphy Prius gets better fuel economy, both are reliable. You can get a cheaper insight compared to Prius.
@@616civicmt8 the kind of hybrid is different too wasn't it?

The Golf TDI is my favourite diesel.
I plan on buying one and once you it 65 mph not much to worry about
Honda Insight isn't meant for US roads but it's suitable in a smaller country like mine with lower speed limits & less obese citizens.
Say that to our gold medal count in the olympics
For japan is great
Leonardo Antonio you are right
How convenient the nigga olympians suddenly became Americans.
MalaysianVoter
Just like the Anglo-Saxon/ Europeans that came to America, suddenly became American..
Very similar 🤔
It's a fun car to drive.
is this car good for private hire taxi job? as you can see lots of toyota prius going very well
Could you do a Ford Probe?
The question is, rather buy an insight or a accord?
the transmission on the 2010-present Honda Insight
Transmission
CVT
Please do one on a 2010 or 2011 odyssey
Very rare as of now
can you do a review of suzuki sx4 crossover?
@swan467 I agree but the volt costs about 30 g more
How big of instruments exactly? Large Drums? Bass?

He drove a few inches in this review !
Makes a nice exhaust note for hybrid :)
Do one on a odyssey since u are at Honda please please its my dream minivan please make part of my dream come trew
How are the transmissions on these?
Transmissions are great because its a honda. Easily these things will run to 500k miles but then some
Stuff are gonna needs some replacing.

I have a 2011 Honda insight base. it has 15" wheels Are you sure this car has 16"
How long do the batteries last? I’m thinking of getting a 2014 with 120k miles but I worry it would break and cost a lot to replace….
Ummm how much would one of these average? I'm a first time buyer.
I am sorry to see that the EX trim level does not have a power moonroof. It really would be a complete car if it had the moonroof
@apocgamer
I know right... this thing just has insanely low profile rubber...
"tt has simulated gears for shifting" When they say that, you know it isn't a car anymore, it's and appliance.
@ThatCheetosGuy79 Why is it funny??? I meant no humor in what I said. I was serious. It is fuel efficient and it is practical. The comment on styling was my own opinion.
Honda's answer to the Prii.
is cruise control stand on insight
I bet this thing is a beast in sport mode! Could probably take down a Lambo! Just sayin! LOL! :) Good vid Kyle, as always.
the average MPG of the 2011 Honda Insight is
40 City 43 Highway
Hope this whole CVT thing isn't a new trend for Honda.
Unlike the Compact Renaissance-Zero, the Insight is the part of Honda Hybrid vehicles
@Raiderpride2013 with a slightly larger engine 1.5L from 1.3L
@paintedd Yea I want to see the new Prelude as well...that would be awesome
@holdencommstra okay the ford falcon is sick, i love that car, the territory i havent quite heard of
