I created this video with the UA-cam Video Editor ( / editor )
I have Robinair tried and true. I have been using their produces for 46 yrs. Also inherited my dad's equipment. Yeah strange. My brothers ares commercial drives. I turned out being an HVAC tech. Yes freon is much more expensive then it was before 134a came in to existence. Once the EPA restricted purchase of freon and made us all get certified. Which I think is a good thing.People really need to know what they are doing. Great video. Buy the yellow jacket. It's a good set. A really good set will cost from $200 and up unless you get lucky. All my equipment is Fieldpiece,Yellow Jacket, Robinair. Thing is I trust these brands. My Robinair vaccum pump is made right here in the USA 100% is old but still looks new. Take care of your tools and you can pass them on to the next generation in you family that wants to be a HVAC technician.
Can you make a video teaching us subscribers how to recover refrigerant from a vehicle without using a recovery machine, please?
HFC stands for Hydrofluorocarbon which is the compound that makes up R-134. R just means “Refrigerant.” CFC stands for Chlorofluorocarbon and HCFC stands for Hydrochlorofluorocarbon. All compounds in different refrigerants.
Not only informative, but humorous too.
thanks a lot ,Georges HASSOUN from Lebanon
Thank you for sharing!
My harbor freight gages works great so far 6years in
Iv had 0 problems out of my harbor freight Pittsburgh gauges or the harbor freight vac pumps but carry on
What do you use to recover the refrigerant before vacuum?
Is a special machine, also you need an extra hose and a tank to do that, it is not as easy as it sounds, but it's doable
That was one of the vary best simple explanation of ac and tools even better then most of the big UA-cam auto channel that get 1 million+ views. Vary rare I ever give someone a 👍 talking about Air Conditioning. Good job 👏
thank you
Thank you for this information!!
What about refrigerant recovery? Is there an economic way of doing that for a vehicle?
Thx for the video, have to get my a/c working here soon.
you can use the "134a" gauges with r12. Doesn't matter if they read in psi, bar, or kg/cm squared. The only difference between gauges is the temperature scale. You don't need to have the temp scale on the gauge. You can just get a chart or graph that tells you the expected pressure at various temperatures. Of course you won't need the quick coupler adapter at the end of the hoses, so just take them off. And the $30 China-made gauges I bought aren't any worse than the Robair gauges I bought for $75 in 1987. The both had imperfectly cut threads where you screw on the hoses. The gauges themselves on the Robinair don't seem to be any better quality. The only reason I bought a new gauge set from China is that I figured my old hoses, and the o-ring seals at the ends, were probably decomposing, and it was no more expensive to buy a set of gauges than to buy new hoses and o-rings. My Robinair $275 1.2 cfm vacuum pump - also a piece of poop. The threads in the exhaust port were not cut well and would have shredded the plastic plug that goes into the hole. For less than $100 I can get a 3 cfm pump from Harbor Freight.
He’s talking about mixing oils and causing waxing jackass!
Nice video! Thank You Clifford!
hey cliff , how do you find leaks ?
What about a recovery machine? Do you not need that? How do you recover freon?
You can take it to a shop to have the freeon recover
Thanks for the info 👍
You didn't mention line wrenches. Do I need them? Or can I use a crescent wrench or something else for flare nuts? Will I even see flare nuts on a Dodge RAM?
I got the new icon 2 stage vacuum pump from harbor freight but they tell me I still need a recovery machine and recovery tank? Is this true? What do you use to recover refrigerant? I can’t release it in the air and I don’t want to go to a shop.
thankyou very good video enjoyed learning uk
Do you have a video showing how to use all of this?
Gotta have a compressor to trip pressure sensor if refrigerant leaked out
Thanks for posting this!
It was ok and everything. You have to get all the freon out if your going put the exact amount required back in so wheres your recovery equipment?
I have a clssic 1978 Trans Am with Freon. Am I able to buy freon without a licence? If so, where can I get it. Thanks for tis very. Informative video!
Thank you for this video, I want to ask if kan using a vacuum pump like
Recovery machine. What a difrant for both and you need to do recovery step everytim you recharge ac system or not.
Thanks already.... Kaiser
Do you use a separate tank when evacuating a system?
Great video! 🙌🏽
Should I buy this or go to pep boys for 50$ diagnose?
What about a recovery tank to pull out refrigerant from the vehicle and the recovery pump which ones do you recommend buying ?
you can go to an shop to have it recover
lol "That's what she said" read my mind hahahaha
Please tell me how to identify stuck open TXV
Evac system?
You should have one or you can go to a local garage and have it evacuated.
Thanks verymach nice
so the end of the cables is 1/4 of 5/16
All this tools how much can I get them ?
The scale is about 150.00 on Ebay.
Where is the recovery machine? you should at least have that bud.
You can got to any shop to have the freeon recover. Most recover machines are expensive for most people to buy to only be used once or twice.
Clifford Rice Recovery machines are not cheap indeed. Lowest prices price I could find was slightly over $400 and you need to get a recovery tank as well (about $80). Do you know approximately how much shops usually charge to recover refrigerant?
Clifford Rice But that is NOT what Mark Galan asked you. Your video did not mention the evac system. You ducked Mark’s question. He did NOT ask you where to take your car to get the AC evac’ed. He asked you why you didn’t have an evec system in your video. And in future videos please just get to your point. Please cut out all the chit-chat. You’ll get TONS more views.
Where is your rcovery pump
Uv die? Refrigerant recovery system?
By looking at the tapping adapters he has, is mostly sure he doesn't recovers
Hello am William from Ghana how can I work with you!!! ?
What if you need to evacuate old freon! Can you use the vacuum pump?
You can, of course with the cost of freon recycling is the best.
@@CliffordRice okay thanks for the reply. But don't you need like a special equipment for the recovery? That's my question cause I don't think I have a leak on my SUV ac system it has freon but not enough. But mine has a dual ac in the sticker under hood it says single this many freon and dual this many.
hi.....is 1.5cfm vacuum pump good for auto ac work
@sodiqseun7379 yes it will do the job, just take alittle longer to vacuum down
@@CliffordRice thanks
