wonder how much the water alone weighs in that aquarium vs the glass ones..
would still be pretty heavy with that much water in it + all that cement and rocks
I would be weary of lifting this since it is joined by two foam boxes and cement
since it could crack in half where it is weakest
in terms of moving aquarium, just put it on a table with wheels if you like moving it alot..

Excellent job my man. That is totally awesome. You changed my mind on how I can create an outside tank easily and inexpensively. I think the only thing that I might have done differently than what you have is I might have added some aluminum extrusions in various places throughout the structure for added support. But What you've done is totally awesome. My hat goes off to you. Good luck keep up the videos.

It seems the bigger I make them, the bigger they need to be. Aquariums are like Boats, they are never big enough and someone always has a bigger one.

A few words of advice: (1) In a few weeks, the cement will cause the water pH to rise and kill the fish. Cement needs to be cured or painted over with pond paint to keep from leeching (2) In areas with cold weather, cement will expand and contract resulting in crack formation and eventual leaking. This project is for tropical areas only (3) Make sure its the spot you want to put the pond forever. This is very heavy and impossible to move

YOU MUST USE MESH FABRIC OR THE CEMENT WILL FAIL. Great idea but without some strong fiberglass mesh for a matrix that cement layer will flex and crack. I make mosaic sculptures using foam as a base and if you don't provide a support for the cement you are asking for failure.

Looks great, the problem is those walls are not strong enough to hold all that water, a lot of pressure and weight there pushing out. Long term, not a good idea,
His walls are 5 cm thick. I hope it will last.

how on earth those styrofoam box with thin layers of cement could withstand the water pressure/weight ?
The water pressure is less , height is lessen,.
Even at half the tank, theres few hundreds kilos laying around...or is the styrofoam dense af
@@abgbad83 the pressure per square inch is absolutely minimal. Don't mistake the weight of the water with the pressure. like all tanks, it must remain where it is built.
@@abgbad83 in simple math, every square centimeter of the floor is only responsible to hold the weight of the water column directly above it. if the water depth is 40cm, the total weight that the each square cm is responsible for is 40 grams. Yes?
@@hbsbos not entirely sure about that...the downforce/gravity pull has already been absorb by the floor...however, the sideways weight distribution still packs quite a pressure...especially at the bottom joints...maybe the styrofoam is really dense that even the joints could withstand the force

Actually, pulling a box cutter through thick styrofoam is difficult because there is a significant coefficients of friction. I believe he uses the kitchen glove to improve his grip on the tool.

Para resolver isso ele só precisa passar uma rezina epóxi que vai isolar o cimento e ele não vai mais afetar o pH da água e em questão do filtro ele faz mais pra frente um filtro

я сам занимаюсь изготовлением аквариумов.отвечу так они специально высоту маленькую сделали давление не очень. поэтому простоит долго.
