Another comment: A British friend of my Dad's said "You American's love your mulch". This has stuck with me so I've always tried to use plants and not mulch.
I’m curious about how easy it is to manage weeds in the UK lol. It’s insane where I am.
Great video. I always learn so much from Roy and Austin.
thanks for watching!
Austin is awesome!! I would love to attend these lectures as I'm very close to Wisconsin (I'm in NW Illinois). Is there a newsletter on upcoming seminars for 2024?
The event calendar on Northwind's website (www.northwindperennialfarm.com/events) is the best place to look for future talks.
Great - thanks, Roy! @@RoyDiblik
LOVE THIS GARDEN!!! And the talk to figure out how to create it, thank you!!!❤🌿✨
You are so welcome!
Very informative session. What would have been very helpful is if names of plants shown on screen.
Hi Roy! Love your videos but can somebody put the names of the plants on the screen when editing. Thank you so much for all you do!
I enjoyed Austin's talk and especially his knowledge of Carex. Out here in Colorado we don't have a lot of shady gardens but this talk gave me several new ideas to try out in designs. One little suggestion is while doing the Q&A it would be helpful if any of your speakers would repeat the questions so we can stay up with Austin as he gives his answers. Otherwise Happy Spring Roy. Looking forward to hearing more of your ideas and experiences.
Thank you so much! This was very timely. We are making a trip to Northwind tomorrow specifically for shade perennials and was thinking carex. See you soon!
excellent talk, wish I could have been there in person! I picked up a couple of plugs of carex sprengelii from my neighbor, who is a garden designer, and I absolutely love it. it comes up early, and has nice arching blades and pretty seed heads. I wouldn't have even considered it if it hadn't been for roy and his love of carex, so thank you roy!!
This was extremely helpful! I struggle with dry shade and now I am excited to go out and buy some of these plants! Going to try the Carex Woodii and the Geranium Alba Thank you!
Great talk! My yard is mostly dry shade and I've learned a lot by trial and error but now I have a list of plants to look for!
A very practical application using both native and non native plants. I wish there were pictures and names on the screen as he spoke 😊. Wish I could have been in person. Next time, maybe in the winter?..make it a zoom talk with questions. Would love that!
Is Carex Woodii the same and Carex Blanda?
great ideas... thanks for watching!
Great talk Austin! Very interesting to see the progress on the garden.
Excellent video! Thanks Austin and Roy. I have a dry shade area for which much of this will be appropriate. Really appreciate the insights!
Great video and garden! Love to see the progress. I've used a lot of Carex albicans in my garden thanks to Roy and Austin's videos and photos. I also just incorporated some C. woodii this spring in small drifts!
Great video
Carex isn’t grass.
