Thank you so much. My brother just called and he wants some scratch mitts. At 65, he is having his first grandson. was a secondary teacher without my own kids. Thank you, Thank you!!!!
🙂 thank you so much for this tutorial! One of my friends is having a baby and I just started learning how to crochet. I was thinking of making something for her baby and my mom suggested hand mittens, booties, and a cap. So I went on UA-cam and found your older video on making these, but wasn’t sure if I could follow that tutorial. Then I found this one and was able to follow your guide. It took me way more than 30 minutes but I was able to finish these in one day. Can’t wait to send these to her!
Thank you so much for this pattern, First time I have crocheted in my life and so spent many happy hour, during 'lock down' in New Zealand due to Covid, creating these adorable mittens. Your tutorials are very clear and easy to follow. Next up I'll be making the easy bootees.
I really like your introduction is very easy to understand and not confusing I’ve been watching most other from UA-cam is so confusing thank your for sharing
Hi Laura. I'm so happy to have come across your crocheting channel. I'm not great at crocheting but can get by. Now I can follow you and can crochet items that I never crocheted before with your easy to follow instructions. You explain slowly and clearly and actually point things out good. Happy to have you as a teacher in crocheting.
I’ve made several pairs of these as baby gifts! I’m hosting a baby shower next month for 3 coworkers and plan to give them each a pair as a gift. Thanks for the easy instructions!
These are adorable. My boyfriends sister is expecting and I will be making these. Along with booties and an outfit!! Thanks for the tutorial. Super quick and easy❤
Thanks a lot! After the baby booties I tried this tutorial and these also turned out to be great! My first child is on his way and hence I'm very excited to make these things for him, please make more easy baby stuff.
Thanks for the kind words Mukta & Congratulations!!!! I will keep it in mind and I definitely do plan to make more easy baby stuff. Subscribe to the channel if you haven't yet and then you will be able to see it when the videos come out. Happy Holidays!
I used fingerling weight with a 4.5 and did 12 in the original top circle and these turned out SO cute. I'm learning so much from your channel and progressing in my crochet skills so quickly!
Love it. I did this with a little modification yesterday. I made the third row 30 stitches because the baby was a bit big but it was perfect. Thanks so much
This is a refreshing updated territorial. I'm not a beginner but still learning new stitches and patterns almost daily. I did recently find stitch markers have really been helpful to keep from getting lost in where the last stitch needs to go and not having to constantly recount my stitches. Maybe suggest using stitch markers for closing each round.
Hye laura , thank you so much for your tutorial 💐 ive made a pair of mitten for my future new born 🥰im in 2nd trimester (4m) pray for me and my baby . This is my 3rd pregnancy aftr miscarriage both , ive waited for 7y . ☺️Tqia 💓
I do like this one better than the first. Great project. Excellent teaching. Not too fast and not tedious! Making for GG #4 on the way, to go with the matching booties. The five year old grand is having a great time with the word 'bootie'.
I will be making lots of these! I found using a size 3.5mm hook of 70 chains for the ties works better for me to tie them. Thank you for a lovely territorial!
Thank you for the sweet comment Charlita! I am glad you liked the video too! I hope you will consider subscribing and checking out some of my other baby tutorials :)
You can crochet a lot faster if you use the hook to grab the yarn when you “yarn over” instead of using your left hand to put the yarn over the hook. When I started doing that it changed my life! I was like you too in the beginning because I started knitting before crocheting and with knitting you can’t let the needles do all the work but you can with a crochet hook. But anyways, thank you so much for the video. Super easy to follow and they’re gorgeous! ❤️
I love these and something i will love to try! I am going to do these for a Romanian orphanage. It gets very cold there and so these will work for two purposes. Warm hands and scratch protection.
Hi and thank you I found you two days ago while looking for mitten tutorials then today I found updated version after I’d made three pairs of your other ones will certainly make more of these they lovely little mitt’s for new baby’s and super fast to make I used in DK wool as In the UK and it’s the most popular and they work great 👍
Thank you for watching Sam and for giving the project a go. I used this yarn = amzn.to/2FWI8Rq for this project. Feel free to check it out and buy it if you like it. Have a good day.
New here. I'll see you soon. Thank you for being so sincere and kind speaking. It's getting harder to find videos that do not treat the viewer like a robot.
Hey there Nettie, Thanks for coming by! I'm glad you like the video, and I am always trying to improve, so I am glad the current vibe of my videos is working for you! Have an awesome day, and thanks for taking the time to comment!
Hi there! Thank you soo much for this video. I did try following the other one but it was hard to keep up. Had to rewind a fair bit on this as well to learn the stitches but it all worked out in the end. It's my first time crocheting (complete beginner) and this was my first project.. wanted to do something special for my brother's first baby. Doing it all in white as we don't know the sex yet. Now going onto the booties.. wish me luck! 🤞🏽 Thank you soo much once again!!☺️
I love the Scratch Mittens I made for my granddaughter and my great -granddaughter thanks lots I just need you to so down a little but they are so, pretty thanks
Hi there I love this pattern and this is such a practical idea for new moms, dads and grandparents. When.my daughter didn't cut my granddaughter's nails wow she cut into my face and it hurt so bad, I made her a lot of these but always on the look for a new pattern. Thank so much!
Love this video! I tried to do one using your last video before I had my son. Unfortunately I didn't make them in time because I kept getting lost. But now here is one I can follow! Making some for my sisters baby she's having! 😍 she doesn't know what gender she's having yet, so I'm making them white. I've already got the blanket done and thr booties. 😍😍
Hey there Tiffany! Thank you so much for giving this video a chance, even though the other one didn't work out for you! I have been working to improve my instructions! Congratulations on your baby, as well as your sisters. Thanks again for watching, and I am so glad you liked the video. xoxo Laura
Agreed. It looks like she is actually joining into the first stitch, not the chain. Also, if I join into the chain, I can’t get into the first stitch at all. The spacing isn’t there after using the chain for joining.
The way you teach makes it easy to do the project. Could you also mention the dimensions of the mittens. Because when i completed it looked a bit smaller and less wider than yours.
Oh my gosh! I made these and they're so darn cute 😍 I kept cutting the stitches every round, but I don't know if the sizing is too small or if my brain is playing tricks on me. You guys should definitely give it a try because it only took me 2 hours from start to finish, and I'm slow to begin with :)
Thanks R AA, I am glad the video worked for you. I am not sure why they would turn out too small though. Perhaps you were using a tighter tension than me?
Hi there! I am new to your videos and have subscribed! I like this video, but, the ring is confusing on the beginning, and I will have to say I hate the magic loop! haha! I somehow ended up with only 18 stitches, but am going with it. This is my first attempt and am making it from scrap yarn and it will make a 'preemie' mitten! I love repetition in a pattern! I will try to catch your videos on Tuesdays!
I wonder can I do like fingerless gloves to go with a certain outfit? I’m making like a cute baby girl outfit for my friends baby and thought some fingerless gloves would be cute but don’t know how to go about starting it
Hey there Katrina! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I am glad you liked the video :) I hav a couple other baby crochet tutorials on my channel, in case you are interested!
Is the last row 2 single crochet in each stitch or is it 2 half double? 🤔 at about 26 minutes in, it sounded like it said half double to finish. Or maybe I missed a step.
Hi what ply is this yarn? I'm a beginner and it gets really difficult to follow along coz i don't have all sizes of crochet needles and different yarn... its just not available easily where I'm from...
Hey Sharon! This is a 2 ply lace weight yarn. you could change it out for sport weight, or sock weight, but if you go thicker, you may see a sizing and fit change for the mitten!
in the first increase do we not put 2hdc into the 10th stich? bc if we do we have 20 stitched plus the loop that will slip stich and it will become 21.... sorry im confused
Hi!! do you know any other way to make the mittens bigger? i feel like of I increase the crochet hook, then the holes will get bigger, I dont like that. I HOPE YOU REPLY!! 🥰🥰
Thanks for the video. You tie that slip not so fast I can’t get it. I’ve rerun the video several times but it’s just too fast. I can make a slip knot easy enough but mine will not pull up the hole. I have to use the magic ring. But I would like to know what you’re doing to make the hole close up when you pull the tail. Mine does not slide, it is just stuck where it is. Thx

I made these with a 3.75 crochet hook an the mittens look huge compared to the ones at the store why is that
Thank you so much. My brother just called and he wants some scratch mitts.

You are so welcome! I am glad this one works better for you. I rewatched that other one, and I had trouble following, so it was due for an upgrade!
I do like this one better than the first. Great project. Excellent teaching. Not too fast and not tedious! Making for GG #4 on the way, to go with the matching booties. The five year old grand is having a great time with the word 'bootie'.
Thanks for the feedback Sharon! I am glad you liked the video, and I hope you'r grand baby stays warm and cozy in them

Wonderful!
I have two great-grand babies in the family and these will come in real handy

Making this for my newborn coming in July thank you
Congratulations on your coming baby! I am glad they will have some cute mittens!
If I follow your instructions after the eyelet round (putting 1 hdc in each stitch including the ch-1 space, I get more than 20 hdc.
Agreed. It looks like she is actually joining into the first stitch, not the chain. Also, if I join into the chain, I can’t get into the first stitch at all. The spacing isn’t there after using the chain for joining.
Thanks for sharing a pretty crochet pattern
Thank you. I'm glad you like it!
Thank so much for teaching so beautiful
So nice of you to comment
The way you teach makes it easy to do the project. Could you also mention the dimensions of the mittens. Because when i completed it looked a bit smaller and less wider than yours.
Thank you for the cute tutorial! :)
Oh my gosh! I made these and they're so darn cute 😍

Thanks R AA, I am glad the video worked for you. I am not sure why they would turn out too small though. Perhaps you were using a tighter tension than me?
Last Minute Laura Sorry I’ve just seen this! But yes, as more time went on, I discovered that I’m a pretty tight crocheted 😆 still workin in it
Hi there! I am new to your videos and have subscribed! I like this video, but, the ring is confusing on the beginning, and I will have to say I hate the magic loop! haha! Hey there Katrina! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I am glad you liked the video :) I hav a couple other baby crochet tutorials on my channel, in case you are interested!
Hi, what ply yarn are you using? And can I use an 8 ply fine cotton yarn on this project?
Can you please tell the guage it will be easier to adjust according to our yarn.
Hi! Love your videos.
Glad you like them!
Good evening. Am I going to make 20 stitches all around the 9 rolls
I have learned so much from you .. Thank you so much
Thank you Debra!!!
Is the last row 2 single crochet in each stitch or is it 2 half double? 🤔 at about 26 minutes in, it sounded like it said half double to finish. Or maybe I missed a step.
Do u have any tutorial for baby hat?
not yet, but this winter FOR SURE! :)
Did you say: what WEIGHT is the cotton yarn?? What HOOK size is used??
Thanks for any answers or advice.
Can we use baby Dk yarn size?
Just finished my first pair :) love them!! Thanks
That's awesome, Dawn! I am so glad the video worked for you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Could I use a 3.75 crochet hook just do a extra row or something
Could u do some puff stich fingerlings gloves with a mitten flap?
Thanks for sharing mam easy explanation God bless you mam
What is the length of your mitten because my looks small. Cause my gauge is tighter
If I have to use thread yarn, will the method be same and the same number if rows???
if i use 2,5 mm hook coz my yarn is more thin than you have..how much hdc i should make in the start?please help, thankyouverymuch
thanks for sharing I'm going to make these for a friend.....
Hi!! do you know any other way to make the mittens bigger? i feel like of I increase the crochet hook, then the holes will get bigger, I dont like that. I HOPE YOU REPLY!! 🥰🥰
Absolutely Love these, Thank you 💕
Thank you Fonda
Thanks for the video. You tie that slip not so fast I can’t get it. I’ve rerun the video several times but it’s just too fast. I can make a slip knot easy enough but mine will not pull up the hole. I have to use the magic ring. But I would like to know what you’re doing to make the hole close up when you pull the tail. Mine does not slide, it is just stuck where it is. Thx
I would like to crochet a baby burp cloth. Do you have a video for one? Thanks Sue
good idea to add to the list Sue! I will surely add it! Thank you! and thanks for watching!
