“Coming to America” was on tv all the time when I was a little kid, and I just remember always being frustrated because Lisa’s boyfriend was a jerk and Akeem was so nice.
I feel like its hard for Will Smith to dissappear into a role because he is such a prominent actor so much so that I feel that he will eventually have his own biopic either when he's much older or posthumously.
Will just doesn’t have great range as an actor. He’s solid, but he doesn’t have Jamie Fox type capabilities. His ego also keeps him from taking on a lot of interesting roles.

I think Ali was ahead of it’s time. If it were to be made and released in this day and age, then it would have done better than it did originally.
lord of the rings is a CLASSIC. it is everything these kids THINK marvel is. it is epic, quality, CINEMA, full of class, lore, drama, art sigh dont know how any one can hate such grandeur but i did love your take of "its just a lot of money to watch people walk" lol

It's short guys making dumb mistakes, crying, and obsessing over food for a million hours 💀 and Return of the King had like five endings lol I'd never gone to see such a long movie before, had to pee by the end, and got ready to stand up to leave every time the screen went black and then another scene would start 😩
why diss another franchise? Marvel is good too. well it was good , it’s kind of a hit or miss atm.
I just rewatched Lord Of The Rings and didnt realize how much I HATE Frodo...I could write a full dissertation on why Frodo is a dispucable main character! Sam carried that whole thing and I was so disgusted lol

At 16, I went to the movies with my parents. It was so long my knee gave out on me when we got up to leave. It just seemed to go on and on.
"Low Down Dirty Shame" would be a good movie to review/defend.
Also, Black Muslims in America weren't a norm then and Ali's reason for converting were for his own misogynistic reasons..and to separate from European religion. Which his marriages/dating proved.
Sad to hear about the Joe Louis building being demolished. Black history is so hard to preserve. 😢
I liked Ali, though ill admit it was kinda long. Also sidenote: I had no idea George Forman was a boxer. I would love to see your take on One Night in Miami. It's another movie that discusses the intersection between entertainment and the political sphere at the time.

I was 22 when 9/11 happened and I believe your reasoning for the poor box office proceeds are 100% accurate. Adding to that people were still very wary of crowds even though we "weren't supposed to let the terrorists win" that soon afterwards. Love your content and I always smile while watching. Lol at the Coming to America song. 👩⚖️

Rec based on what you said on the end: check out The Two Deaths of Sam Cooke, it was on Netflix last time I checked. Very good documentary about Sam Cooke, his commitment to the cause, and the very sketchy details surrounding his murder. I’m a big fan and I really enjoyed the film.

I'm not into sports movies-excluding Uncut Gems- but remember seeing the trailers and thinking "it's Will Smith, it'll do great." I hadn't heard/seen any reviews, so (SHRUG).

so interetingly enough I attended school with his son until 7th or 8th grade. They lived in Southwest Michigan for several years and happened to send him to the local SDA elementary school. He was in my class and we used to argue constantly because we're both hard headed 😂 So many days we spent recess walking around the parking lot because we got written up for excessive talking. He also taught me how to shoot a basketball! As far as Ali, he would come around for events or just to pick up his kid, so I just knew him as "[name]'s dad" until my mom told me who he was. It blew my mind 🤯.
i never saw this movie but my mom had the soundtrack and there are some songs on there that still live rent free in my head 20-something years later.

When you said you watch and very aware you’re watching Will Smith, I feel this about him and The Rock. I cannot see them disappear into their roles. Just them on screen and it’s very distracting.

I don't know if you've seen One Night In Miami, directed by Regina THEE King. The main cast of characters are Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X, and Jim Brown. And Regina being beautiful and multi-talented is rude as hayle but that's another discussion.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in not enjoying lord of the rings and all the walking - I tried to get into it multiple times but always got bored.
