Why is Ben Affleck attracted to projects where his magic peen turn lesbian straight?
In the original version (according to Michael Dequina, anyway), I think she was actually the bisexual ex-girlfriend of a lesbian hitwoman, and she'd taken over her ex-girlfriend's identity in an attempt to live a more exciting life or something, so a lot of the weirdness of that character was originally supposed to make more sense. Still probably wasn't a very good movie, though.
the absolutely blatant bisexual erasure??? like y'all could've given us some decent bi representation in an era that desperately needed diversity in media but instead chose to give us "lesbian except for this one dude" ????? that's just not how anything works man, like they fully said lesbians are just women who haven't met the right guy ????? that whole trope just baffles me to no end
I guess in this era bi women were more depicted as "promiscuous" and willing to have sex with anybody, so OBVIOUSLY she had to be a lesbian (except for one guy). Fr tho as a bi girl this film was pretty irritating
I think the problem with that is that even if they made her Bi it's not like she would be good representation. They already were weird about her attraction to women making her Bi fixes her sleeping with him but like it's not like they made her good lesbian rep before she slept with him. They should've just...... not made this.
The biphobia and homophobia in this movie have been astonishing and not surprising.
Why is "straight man refuses to comprehend that gay woman is not attracted to men and she eventually gives in and sleeps with him because she met the right man" a THING? Like, I thought Chasing Amy was alone but this just seems to be the prototype phase of manic pixie dream girl and I am not liking it.
I never managed to watch that movie and thought it was supposed to be a cute love story between two women. I'm now happy I didn't. I hate that movie ads pretest stories completely dishonestly

I could understand if the whole thing with Ricci being attracted to Gigli was about her realizing that she is in fact bi and not a lesbian, which is something that does happen. But something tells me that this particular movie is not interested in doing that.

I feel like Ben Affleck is one of those actors where he's not actually a bad performer, but the projects he takes up are just awful. He'll do, like, a few good movies here and there, but they're just bad for the most part.

I feel like there’s a lot of bad Ben affleck movies during the early 2000s. Like Daredevil comes to mind but also I distinctly remember this Ben affleck Christmas movie that some family members took me to and it was about Ben’s character paying some random family off to live at their house and pretend to be his family over Christmas. It was so cringe and as a child I just wanted to see anything else.
There was also Reindeer Games and the truly terrible Forces of Nature with Sandra Bullock. Critics could not get enough of hating Forces of Nature.
I feel like mid-late 90s was his high point, everything after is a slog
@@afterly I think Affleck from 2000-2010 was his dumb phase (like wine) and then in 2010, he made the Town, and in 2012 he makes Argo, stars in Gone Girl in 2014, takes up the role of Batman. I feel like he's evolved.

Same. Only thing I actually liked him in was The Accountant, which I wouldn't mind seeing a More Butter review on, lol. Then again, I feel the overall cast did just as good if not better.
Kennie gets excited over earnestly spectacular trash. It's like watching someone discover the film Mannequin or the cartoon Jem & the Holograms or Valeria Lukyanova's photos as the Human Barbie Doll.
It's weird, somewhat wrong, yet glorious and magnificent.

The only thing that made this movie funnier for me is the time me and my friends dubbed over the entire thing and made it "jiggly" instead of Gigli. Like this is one of those movies where you just chaos edit it, add some snapchat filters and voice changers and boom. Masterpiece.
Between this and Dr. Doolittle, makes me wonder if the first Bad Boys movie has also been blamed for a terrible movie's box office performance.
