Planting the Allotment - Byford Model Railway

There was an odd- shaped corner to fill on the layout so an Allotment seemed an ideal use for it.
Allotments were plots of land rented out to people mainly to grow their own fruit and vegetables I'm not sure if they were used everywhere but in the North of England they were very popular.
I spent a few afternoons at my uncles waiting for his pigeons to return with the added bonus that it was alongside the canal so you could make boats out of reeds and watch the barges go past as there were still some in commercial use then.
