Some people prefer to mention KOs, regardless upscaled or 1:1 replicas, as 4th parties, but I usually see any unlicensed Transformers company as a 3rd party, regardless of whether they make original molds (ex: UT Lockdown), KOs (ex: LT01), or KOs have been upscaled until they are basically original molds (ex: Black Apple Optimus Prime)
I feel like a comparison and contrast between the VW Beetle Bumblebee and the Chevy Camaro Bumblebee isn’t exactly fair. Sure, they’re the same character, but some nostalgic fans may prefer the updated design of MPM7, as it’s a refreshed version of the classic G1 bee everyone grew up watching. MPM-03 is an example of a massive redo of an old concept that people have gone crazy over. Holding no resemblance to MPM7, if you discount the famous “wings” that both of the car doors do, I’d say it’s a fantastic redo of the classic character everyone grew up to love. As far as sculpting, proportions, and kibble go, MPM7’s car hood doesn’t completely fold away, and juts out at a strange angle. For MPM-03, the car hood parts not only fold away, but fold in to act as bulk for the body, showing considerably less kibble. The wheels are part of the foot, staying film accurate and hiding kibble. MPM7 does that too, but instead of foot, it’s what I think is the thigh, and the legs both carry loosely folded back sections of car. But it’s a necessary sacrifice to me, as the sculpting is perfect. Including the movie accurate proportions, the head has brilliant blue eyes, one of the things that stood out in that movie. MPM7’s accuracy knows no bounds, but the cost is more kibble. As for MPM-03, it’s again, very moving accurate, from the proportions, to the sculpting, to the placement of parts. But a small part of me wished they didn’t use light piping on the head. It gives off this strange ghostly appearance like poor Bee’s noggin is full of steam. If they had decided to do blue eyes instead, like MPM7, in my mind the figure would be perfect. The bottom line is this: If you’re a nostalgic Bumblebee fan who misses the old G1 design, get MPM7. If you have grown to appreciate the updated design, and have an “out with the old, in with the new” kind of mindset, get MPM-03. These are both fantastic figures, each with their own flaws, but the choice of which is better is up to you. Me personally? I’d go with MPM-03. I just love the Camaro design, and having grown up watching those films, I’ve come to appreciate the character(even though I now think the movies suck, I still like the character)but having seen the Bumblebee movie, I think the transformers finally found justice, I’d get both of those figures in a heartbeat. But I still like MPM-03 more.

I love it! It still frustrates me so much that they had an opportunity in the movies to completely redesign everything, and they chose to stick with the silly Bayformers face even after changing every other TF.
