It had nothing to do with race, it was more about marrying someone in the same caste, religion, and socioeconomic class. There is definitely some truth in what you say. I dated a woman from India who was living in the USA. Her family wanted her to marry a "nice Indian body." It had nothing to do with race, it was more about marrying someone in the same caste, religion, and socioeconomic class. We wanted to get married but she had been raised to think differently about family. To her, family was everything. It's difficult for us to understand when someone doesn't stand up for themselves but that's because we were raised to be independent and to make our own decisions.
