One day I, along with my father, his wife and her kids, visited a house on Christmas Eve. There was a mountain dulcimer, which is common in country music, and upon plucking it, I could only think of this song and started playing it.
oh m, I totally forgot this song and haven't heard it since... 1998 maybe.. and yesterday all of a sudden 'wandering star' came to my mind out of nowherere and I then find this gem here again... Inredible, miss Portshead lots, miss the 90s even more, never wished for a time machine more than these days
It's really weird how, when i'm at my lowest ebb, Portishead makes so much sense, and gives meaning and understanding to life. I love you guys more than life itself! XxX
Playing Portishead through my 1977 Kenwood system.... Just simply amazing produced sound. Sounds like Shirley Bassey on antidepresants???? but outstanding!
I don't listen to much of this kind of music (i'm a metalhead), but this band is amazing. The scratches are well placed and the whole atmosphere is incredible
This was the Bristol sound in the 90’s. Great time. They invented the atmospheric of Trip hop. Portishead, Massive attack, Tricky, Mad professor gigs were a thing of beauty on their home turf. Trip hop and Dark jump up drum and bass took Bristol over for a good few years thanks to bands like Massive, Portishead, Roni sizes represent band, even Skunk anansie, added that dark metal vibe and it was a reflection, a perfect backdrop to a sometimes tough sometimes divided city to live in at that time , post riots. You couldn’t walk a hundred meters through St. Paul’s without hearing these basslines booming out of someone’s car. I still feel seriously lucky to have been on the scene at that time.
Go back and listen to Linkin Park,( if it’s your jam) after wrapping up in some Portishead grooves, and you will see their influence went far and wide. The masters of the subtle, striped back drop.
@@hamishbartholomaeus lp are my favourite band, and i noticed the similarities since the first time i heard Portishead. It's amazing to hear where they got inspired
I used to get ready to this song and album. It made me feel ready to face the world. My sister, her partner and niece as a baby where in mine n sisters old bedroom. Good times. Loved it then, even if I worked in a duck factory. I felt alive.
Lol, because of the way UA-cam have changed the default "icons" for channels with no uploaded avatar ... PortisheadVEVO now has the rare exception of actually having the right logo for this band ... a simple letter "P".
This must have prompted the channel owners to get their act together, because they finally did bother to upload a signature "P" logo to this channel (even though the white outlined corners are now cropped out of the circle mask around the avatar) ... Also, it appears that "PortisheadVEVO" are now masquerading as "Portishead SOS"
0:00 Cause sometimes you just feel tired, feel weak , and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up, but you got to search within you, and try to find that inner strength and just pull that shit out of you

Shut up.

Love Beth Gibbons' voice. This track always makes me think she'd do a great Bond theme.
Oh yes, you and me and so many others. Bond would have to change to suit Beth.
She's BEAUTIFUL ❤️
SIICK! Totally in love with Portishead since 97
❤
So evil! So deep. So dark. I love it.
I've always liked "Glory Box", so I thought I would check out another Portishead song - I'm glad I did! The strumming guitar is mesmerising.
Yo gotta check out more of their stuff! Masterpieces!
