- We let Slinky get loose and he loved every minute of it! He could have gone anywhere at the Kamp Kenan sanctuary, but you'll see that this giant Asian water monitor lizard just could not resist the Aquascape ecosystem pond.

Wow... Just so amazing and so beautiful. Slinky .. almost like he has an invisibility cloak on. Really fascinating, his camouflage. Even his light belly looks just like a patch of sunlight on the greenery. So natural. Wonderful vid. Loved hearing the passion and emotion in your voice.

Slinky is graceful. I was in Germany in October and a zoo had a juvenile Comodo dragon, it was just stunning.
VERY cool to see Slinky in a "natural" environment. I loved when you said basically "they can't help that they were born in captivity but it's up to us to care for them properly" .... I completely believe that... captive animals depend on us for their life, we need to do the best we possibly can to give them what they need....

Slinky seems like such a mischievous sweetheart. I hope more people provide wonderful enclosures for their animals...I hate to see them in cramped empty boxes etc. An animal is a living being with emotions. I see you & your animals bring out the best in each other!!!

It's a relaxing video,and I,cen just feel the lazy comfort,and bliss that slinky is feeling in his freedom.he is one lucky monitor he has the best of both worlds, ,he has the love of Kenan ,and and the protection of the camp.

Slinky shows are definitely my very favorite at the kamp! He is so majestic and gorgeous, I can't wait until I have the means for an AWM. You can totally see how lizards became snakes over time when you see the dumpy little legs on a skink, especially once they start moving(slithering), so adorabibble!
This just shows you how much animals enjoy nature
He enjoys his time out for sure. They do need the stimulation. They are smart reptiles. I used to let my Spanish Green Terrapins out to wander in the garden in summer, they loved it. I now live in rural Thailand and walk my pack of dogs every morning, so I see many water monitors, and many other reptiles. As soon as they detect the dogs, the monitors either plunge into water or climb a palm tree. Once safe up a tree they will stop and survey the earth bound mammals. That is when I can take some decent photos.

Loads of wild Asian Water Monitors here (Singapore). On a 3Km walk from my home I will usually see a couple of smaller ones, and maybe - if I am lucky - a large one or two. Incredible animals, but quite timid. They will disappear into the water if you get too close. Around breeding season, the males will fight, crashing against each other. My favourite lizards.

This is what the hobby is about. It's not about keeping animals like trading cards. It's about understanding, respecting and enjoying these animals for what they truly are.

Wow Slinky is an amazing lizard! I love watching him stroll around. It really shows you how these creatures need a lot of space to be able to have that kind of enrichment. No indoor enclosure could ever provide that. I love your land and everything you offer to your animals!

They definitely do run into crocs in the natural habitats. Even in Singapore, I have seen Water monitors and Estuarine crocs within 100 feet of each other. Pretty dope!

One thing I have learned about monitors. It doesn't matter how big their enclosure is, it is too small for them. They want to get out and explore. They are super smart! They get bored and depressed if they get left in their enclosure all the time.

Hey Kenan... enrichment for Slinky in particular is most important. And the pond is perfect for just that!... enriches the humans as well! :)
All for taking good care of them, no they didnt choose captivity at all and it is up to us to give them all that we can to keep them healthy and happy.
I honestly can not wait till you get an Aquascape pond done for Slinky the Slinkster!! With a lovely waterfall plants and everything else. He is so well tammed and how slinky appreciates your company even though he still gives you the odd whip I believe his like a teenager just giving you a punch in the arm "sup bro" as a hello, after that his lovely god id love an animal like that but I live on the U.K. if my business keeps going well hopefully I can move over to South Florida in my 30s keep rocking Kenan

I was in Thailand already two times and always close to the park, where the monitors live, but didnt know that they are there. I tried to find them in the wild, but didn't have the luck. Later I found out about the park and that was so sad. At least I know next time, I also love those big monitor lizards.

Slinky is all the asian water monitor anyone will ever need. Hes beautiful and amazing!
You need to go to Australia and check out the wild argus monitors. They are the one true living Raptors of the modern world. So fast, powerful and agile. Not quite as big as slink but, they are not one of the smaller species. Just leaner.
There is a camp ground there that attracts another kind of monitor.
When people start cooking they smell it and show up.
I was watching another video with a big breader there and when they went out and started cooking hot dogs the monitors showed up in numbers. They were big too.
Please go to Australia. Or both... I think Australia would be better. 30 ish species live there.

big monitors also whip with their tail if you corner them. If you go to Thailand they are everywhere! at the Asian Institute of Thailand, you have monitors throughout the campus, maybe see 20+ a day, some as big as slinky if not bigger!

I'll never forget a zoo educator tried to correct me, when I was a kid, about komodo dragons. They tried to tell me they weren't venomous when I told them they had venom AND bacteria. Jokes on them lol.
