    Thank you so much for this great instruction! My technique practice and pieces have improved much more quickly as a result of watching your videos, and I am excited to implement what has been discussed in this particular video. Clear demonstration and profound conceptual depth. These smooth bowing techniques and movements are definitely one of the fundamental points of development to create a more beautiful violin sound and certainly a delicate legato. Just keeping this in mind, I will get more out of my sevcik bow studies. I was starting to figure out on my own the importance of the various joints in smooth bowing, but this has made my inclinations much more concrete and tangible. Thanks again

    Absolutely correct that figure of 8 bowing really does help because I remember having a master class with maestro Robert Vijay Gupta in Japan not him only also many other violinists too, it is absolutely easy to follow your teaching and hope you don't mind I always ask my students to follow your teaching samples as well. Thank you. superb

    finalllyyyyy!!! one of the my biggest doubt got cleared, i always wondered everyone saying keep the hair parallel to bridge but when i saw good violinists the hair is not actually parallel, its more like fluidity in the movement. I am putting a thumbs up on every video here. It took me a few days of seeing these videos and others to realize what a gem we have here. Maybe I'll upload a video of myself so people can comment. Not sure why I get a poor sound from my A and E strings even after changing the strings to Prim (Goldbrokat on E) and experimenting with too little, too much rosin and tension in the bow. I ordered the rosin you recommended. Thank you for all these great videos!

    Wow. This was really helpful. I'm so glad I found your channel especially since I started playing the violin just at the beginning of June last month. Your teaching skills are insane. I have a question, how do I stop tensing up my neck so much? I swear my neck and shoulders get so tense you might think I was trying to lift a dumbbell. Also, how do I keep my fingers in the correct position for vibrato? I only recently started really getting it (thanks to your vibrato videos) but whenever I think of doing it my fingers are in a completely different position than they should be.

    Dear professor
    Do you believe that a unstraight bow stick has a incidence on bouncing ?
    Best regards from France

    • @JoyLeeViolin
      @JoyLeeViolin  2 роки тому

      Greetings to you also Thierry from Canada.
      Yes, uneven bow stick such as bent stick can produce unwanted bouncing as it looses the contact to the string sometimes. However try to use slower bow speed which will allow you to control the bow better. Happy practising!

    While trying to bend my fingers to do a smooth bow change, my thumb always tends to slip off of its position and in between the stick and the bow hair. Do you have any tips for what I may be doing wrong?

    • @wilangelamikaelameenamarie7357
      @wilangelamikaelameenamarie7357 7 років тому +1

      You could try practicing in front of the mirror to get a straight bow. that begginer sound is mostly caused by a crooked bow and you should try getting better rosin. Back then, I used a really cheap rosin brand from China and it made my playing sound really scratchy, but now I use better quality rosin and the scratchiness went away. :)

    Do these concepts apply to double stops?

    • @JoyLeeViolin
      @JoyLeeViolin  7 років тому

      Yes in general. When playing double stops, the movements of joints can be less or quicker especially while playing 3 strings at once.
