Not really. Even in the movie he wasn't menacing. Pacino was the crazy one.
He shot a few guys out of absolute necessity, but he was the foil to Tony's extreme personality. He was happy with whatever he had. Tony wasn't.

Lesbian! Probably his most comical line in 'Scarface' A film way ahead of its time in purity. It was portraying Miami in all its essence, as it was in 1980. Miami was the murder capital of the world back then. This was a truly ground-breaking movie in its day for being so real and in tune with the Miami of 1980's. I would guess that many middle age women (around 50 - 55 years old or so) find him very attractive in this interview. It is all relative. If you eat properly and exercise and take care of yourself most people (both men and women) will likely not lose their sex appeal to the opposite sex in their age bracket.

I am in absolute shock that he and Pacino felt that way after the movie. This movie is unbelievable, top 10 of all time EPIC ICONIC. If I ever got to meet Steven Bauer I would tell him how amazing of a movie it is and to forget those horrible days where people thought it was crap.

The movie was powerful, dark, complex, and violent...it penetrates your psyche and the residual emotions / mood linger for days. The imagery, characters, and music in Scarface can draw you in and then haunt you. This is one of those movies that I love, but that I am reluctant to watch again.

I saw this movie in 1983 when I was 16 and loved it. Must have seen it at the theatre 8-10 times! I guess I am in the minority but I got it immediately, sure it was crazy violent but none of it was gratuitous, it was intrinsic to the story & it was a great, epic story!

Yes I'll always be a huge Scarface fan. I understand that in 1983 movies like this one hadn't been made but it opened my eyes to what is really going on in the world when I saw it. Al Pacino at his best with good actors as well. I feel people may not have been ready for this movie at the time but thanks Brian DiPalma and all the actors just because of times we live in doesn't mean things Don't happen because the world isn't ready to talk see or accept life. These are facts. From interviews i've seen from former cops and feds, what you saw in Scarface was really happening in Miami (and other places). Shootings in broad daylight, seeing victims with "Colombian neckties", etc., that was happening in 1980s. Pablo Escobar saw beheadings (political violence) when he was growing up in Columbia.
Except for the ending, Scarface was showing real sh*t.
Dude I showed this movie to my friends as a kid and it blew their minds. Everyone who sees it wants to become a dealer or atleast get high and pretend they are Scarface after watching it 😆 it's one of the biggest and most influential movies ever made. Only movie that kind of relates to it is like wolf of wall street maybe

Don't care what anyone says, I've always loved Steven Bauer's movies and the characters he played. Loved him in Scarface of course and Thief of Hearts wow! and that one he had it goin on big time he was definitely in his prime and was one super hot tamale! But for his role as DEA agent Kiki Camarena omg! that one is the best and did it for me. He didn't have that many scenes in that movie but he showed his true talent as an actor and star potential as well as unique sexiness in that one very serious and important mesmerizing role! He is one HOT🔥🔥🔥 SEXY man and always will be even with a small pot belly, gray hair and the age thing going on. To me the way he looks now is a new kinda sexy for him. You go Steven!!! 👍😍💓

I saw Scarface when it came out an loved it. I didn't know it was panned by some loser critics.
It was seen as "over the top" when it had came first came out - by some. The cursing, the violence (although according to some interviews from cops and feds that were in Miami in the '80s, the violence shown, except for the very end, was accurate) was too much for some critics and the audience in the mid '80s.

In my opinion, the ending was over the top (but i'm not complaining). I'm not part of that world, but i would agree the whole movie up until the ending was accurate, realistic.

It's one of my top three movies of all time. I remember when Steven used to go the the Roxbury in Hollywood. It didn't hurt him at all being in the movie. But then I didn't see him for a long time, until Ray Donovan. And I was like, finally... he's back.
This is sad because Scarface is literally my favorite movie and Manny is my favorite character i just wish Tony didn’t kill Manny. Manny is probably the only one that could have saved Tony’s life

A lot of reviews don’t age well. Many movies that got bad reviews then withstood the test of time and then ended up getting better reviews as they aged. Scarface became timeless.

Great to see Bauer,he was awesome in Scarface. It is my favorite and greatest movie of all time. Politically correct was just on the way ,that is why the film never got the recognition it deserved.
Scarface was over the top, it’s true. But that’s what makes it such an iconic classic that to this day is one of the greatest pieces of cinema ever displayed. They took a current problem of that day, Cuban refugee influx into America, with the cocaine surge of the 80’s and the drug cartels of Colombia. They put it into an operatic setting. Total classic.

There are others: Godfather I and II (1972, 1974), the original Scarface (1932, yeah some corny lines and scenes - but still a classic!). And there are others, but yes Scarface is one of the great crime flicks from the 1980's and from all time.
I have it on VHS and DVD, but i still watch it if it comes on "cable" (really FiOS lol!).
