    80% daily charging with the LR RWD is more usable range than the LFP RWD.
    80% daily charging on the DM LR is exactly the same usable range as the LFP RWD.
    This thing is going to be a sweet road tripper. Efficiency with fast charging

    I have been waiting for years now for them to bring the RWD LR back. I finally got tired of waiting and just bought a used M3 LR AWD. I no more than complete the paper work yesterday on it and this drops. I have the worst timing imaginable. I am glad they are finally bringing this car back. RANGE and fast charging speeds are king in an EV. Not only when new but over time as degradation happens you will have more usable range in the sweet center of the battery pack. People fixate on the LFP 100% charge, but that only tells a very small part of the total story. I am am still happy as I don't want the car without the stalks anyway, but just a bummer to have waited so long and to have my timing be this bad. LOL

      It is not 35k tho. It is over 40k MSRP. It it crazy how much Teslas cost for almost no tech or comfort inside beyond the general standard. It is just a highly subsidized product paid for with peoples money. In Europe you have half a dozen electric cars announced to start at 25k including taxes and fees(!) and without an extra 7.5k from the public hand. And you can buy at least 3 decent ones already for that price. Wtf is Tesla doing? Just sleeping on public money forever.

    Back in 2015 the dual motor Model 2 had 270 mile EPA rating, and single motor had 265 miles, both with the same "85" pack (actually 82 kWh gross). Back then the single motor was induction, and was a previous generation design, so it did not get the efficiency advantage of today's permanent magnet single motor Teslas. The dual motor cars were both induction, but a newer and more reliable design.

    EV ownership is very complicated when you consider the financial costs. Significant depreciation affects the choice of buying or leasing a new car. Battery and other tech advances on the horizon come into play. Quality used options, no matter what the popular misinformation, have an incentive not to be left out. Getting through the next 2-3 years may seem like a lifetime to contemplate. Used under $25k with the $4k rebate may not be as exciting as new, it should be a serious consideration to mention when considering a first or even another ev. You should do the research to talk about it for your audience.

    hat is going to be very popular if you don't need AWD. Like a race car driver out front who can manage his lead without stressing or overdriving his car aka the Cat and Mouse game, Tesla can probably do that better than any other EV manufacturer in the world. I bet they could announce the mythical $25K EV today if they had to. Elon can press the accelerator or cruise along as needed.

    Tesla charge curves are trash. Perhaps we will see bad degradation in other brands in a few years, but for now it seems like a disadvantage.

    • @TheReal_JG
      @TheReal_JG 3 місяці тому

      The charge curve is definitely worse than the other brands, but it got me thinking that it's probably for the ultimate longevity of the battery. Every EV hater loves to talk about how short a battery's lifespan is, so that could be Tesla's subtle response. On the other hand, Tesla also has the most reliable charging infrastructure compared to the others, which is why it mostly wins these OOS race to Vegas series.
