- Coming home.
That is what this trip was for me. I've been away for a while helping my family and I have missed the mountains.
I initially intended for this to be a multi-day trip. I didn't have much of a plan except to head up the stateline trail and try to find a place to camp. Get up, and move somewhere else and camp. I would do that for a few days.
The forecast for the trip was bad, and for once the forecast was right on the money. It shortened my trip but the trip was more about getting out. - Розваги
Timber, a great fire and a little Crow. Life doesn't get any better. 👍
That is a true statement!
Great to see you and Timber back!!
Bob Alberta
Timber might love backpacking as much as I do!
It's trips like these that make you appreciate the nicer weather ones! You do a great job man, this channel truly is a gem.
Thank you! You're totally right too. The rough ones make to savor the perfect weather ones.
Beautiful area Travis! Glad you were able to get out, even though the weather didn't cooperate. Great video as always. Hope your knee is better.
Thanks Bryan! In the end, it really is just about getting out. Even a short trip is better than no trip.
Glad to see you got out 👍🏼. This vid got me stoked, hiking the Beartooths is a few weeks and the Sawtooths in August😁. Perfect video to watch for me today. Awesome hiking partner ya got there👍🏼
That is great! Sounds like you have some incredible trips coming up!
Good dog.
Well one good night and a nice walk is good to. Timber looks to be in mid season form. Very nice forest. Take care and stay safe, Al
That is true, at least I got one night in. It was definitely needed. Thanks for watching, Al!
That is where I wanna be!
It's incredible up there!
It looks very similar to where the Little Joe Road out of St Regis, MT, crosses into Idaho. Most people don't know that the peaks of the Bitterroot Mountains define much of the border between Idaho and Montana. Basically, when you cross the border between Montana and Idaho you are travelling over a pass.
Very true! I've traveled over the Little Joe Road a few times now.
Hey, great to see you out and about. Short trip or not, just being "where you belong" always feels good. Thanks for the vid and looking forward to seeing your next one. Take care!
So true, there is something very satisfying about being where you belong. Thanks for watching!
Hope you and your family are okay! This looked cold - I am not ready for this! Pup seamed to enjoy! looking forward to your next videos! Always!
This one was definitely cold! Spring time conditions can be like this sometimes.
Just went here today(current Northwestern Post Falls resident); it was great; thanks for sharing
Nice! It is a great area!
Rainy, wet conditions are no fun for sure, but the mist in the trees was beautiful. I sure do like my underquilt protector from 2QZQ. Stops the rain and the wind.
It was really beautiful! An under quilt protector would've helped this time. I was lazy that night and knew that I should've fixed my tarp once the storm started, but I never did... and got a wet under quilt.
I hear ya about how sometimes the weather can dampen your spirit more than your gear. Still a nice outing and Timber seemed to enjoy it. Im so out of shape I'm not even sure I could cover a lot if ground myself.
Good to hear from you, Bud! Not sure why but, I just wasn't having the rain and the snow. I think it would've been better if I was in better shape.
Really miss the open forests over there. So many places to put a hammock. If you ever do any western Washington trips (like the Olympics) make sure you have an extra set of hammock straps. A lot of times you can find a perfect tree perfectly spaced from a massive tree, so you need the extra length for the one tree. Still, gotta love north Idaho and Montana.
I'm hoping to get to the Olympics at some point! I do have a 2nd set of straps that I bring. I would love to see some of those giants!
@@mountainwanderer This isn’t my video, but I’ve done most of the sections of this loop. Hit it during the middle of the week and you’ll enjoy more solitude, which can be found in the Olympics, believe it or not. And save it for after you’ve had a chance to build up your endurance earlier in the season. A few sections can be brutal. But water does tend to be easy to come by. ua-cam.com/video/UK_ns3p-W00/v-deo.html
Weather is my kryptonite as well, and my luck seems to dictate that the weather will coincide with the weekend. 😟 It’s great that you got out for a night, though, and it looks like it was a beautiful hike even if it was cold. 🤙🏻
It's been a rainy spring up in the panhandle. Jessie was telling me you might get up closer this way this summer / fall. I'm hoping that I can get in on that trip with you guys.
What’d y’a think about the Selway-Bitterroots?
@@theidahonian5321 I would love to go in there!
@@mountainwanderer sounds like a plan in the making.
@@theidahonian5321 sounds like some whiskey will be drunk/drank/drinked. Lol
Enjoyed your outing, thanks for taking us with you and I'll look forward to your summer's adventures. For some of us like myself, this is about the only way I'll enjoy the west this summer since I've cancelled my trip to Colorado. Good summer to staycation.
This is going to be an odd backpacking season for sure. Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip to Colorado. Being in a rural area to begin with, we've been pretty lucky around here. There are even less people in our mountains.
If you move to libby you can live in the mountains all the time. Lol. Great shots and I like whatvu did with the graphics on the road at the end.
Well I live in a mountain valley with mountain passes on each end... Maybe you need to move here?! I'll leave the light on for you...😃
@@mountainwanderer I will come for a visit. Hahaha
I'll get out the whiskey
@@mountainwanderer Number 1...make it so. Lol
Engage!
Easy to get off trail in snow. I always carry some trail wands just in case.
I had a GPS and I was just on a ridge, so there was no worries. Sometimes the best stuff is off trail! Thanks for watching!
Nice to be out there isn’t it? I am ready to go next week just for a hike.
It was great to be out! The snow is melting fast in the high country so it's time to get up there!
Discretion is the better part of valor. Loved that last shot where you left the camera up top to make the outro...great film making. What is the book you referenced? Shooks, Suggs, ???
Thank you! I was referencing Shug, another you tuber who often has "breakfast from the hammock". He makes great videos. Check him out if you haven't seen any of them yet.
I am so hoping the border will open this year but does not look good from here in Alberta.
I hope we can get back to normal this year...

A good vegetarian diet is crucial for activities, after 40 yes.(see Meek, Bridger, autobiography....)
ok, I'll take your word for it.
You have a beautiful dog. do you put the red bandana on the dog so that it isn't mistaken for a wolf?
Thank you! You're right, that is exactly why he wears a bandana!
@@mountainwanderer, I live in Hot Springs, MT. My buddy has a dog that could be mistaken for a wolf and his dog, Shadow, wears a red bandana, too!
That is wise!
