The river is the same today as it was as a 12 year old boy. The road is different. The trip from St, Maries to Avery about hour today. The trip to Avery back in 1957 was all dirt with switch backs. No one fished it but the local people. The dust was so heavy you could not tell if the leaves on the trees were green from the dust from the logging trucks. The trip took about 2.5 hours. Today it's all highway. Back it the 50,60, The fishing was great the limit was 25 changed to 15 1959. Today it is all catch and release. Fishing pressure is heavy.

If you don;t mind brush Falls creeks the place to fish for kids lots of brook trout 25 day limit. The creek is 15 miles out of St, Maries up the joe road . The kids have a good time once you get down to the creek. Fish just about every cast no one fishes it any more. the trout 12 to14 inches.

Just found your two videos and watched. Those were NICE fish for The Joe, although I am fishing elsewhere that time of year; maybe I need to adjust my schedule to accommodate more trips into the Autumn season. Normally The Joe is good for numbers and a fish over 14" is the exception (in the summer). Well done video and thanks for not being too specific about your locations. The river is no secret, but it is LONG 😉🎣

Nice video! With you fishpond switchback belt system, what kind of net attachment are you using? Do you use a lanyard/magnet that attaches your net to the belt system? I have the same fishpond belt but yet to set up a lanyard attachment for my net. Always feel like a need a 3rd hand to hold my net when taking fish off the hook to prevent my net from floating away downstream.

    • @TheFlyFishingFilmmaker

I do have a zinger in the back but most of time I just stick the handle between my legs, it’s annoying putting the net away attached to the zinger.
